I'm curious about how you get around when visiting Vegas. I've tried to think of as many options as I could. I know that most will take more than one method. "Primary" only please.

In my case, I travel all over Las Vegas (incl DTLV, Henderson, Summerlin, etc) when I visit so a rental car is a must.

Walking (other than to/from airport). I tend to do strip crawls at some point during my trip. If it's late, or I end up very far away from my home base, then I may cab back (like the time I made it from Mirage to Mandalay Bay at 5:30am), but otherwise I walk between casinos. I enjoy the walk, and the trip through different properties.

Sorry, like many polls, the answer will not be the answer.

Even though we selected WALKING as the primary, it does not take into account that we use Uber/Lyft and Cab. Any maybe limo from the airport.

We have totally given up on rental cars for many reasons and think it is a waste of time and money on the strip.

But, if you tend to make trips to downtown and outlying casinos or areas, then a rental car makes sense.

A survey only provides misleading information.

    It depends.

I drive my own car to Vegas, usually along with visits with family on the way to Vegas.

In town, I walk, take a taxi or Lyft if I'm going too far to walk.

I like having my car available for day trips or wandering to farther off-Strip properties. Or runs to Lee's Discount Liquor.

I separate my trips with and without cars (I know not everyone can do that.)
On my recent 4-day trip in Dec before Xmas with family, I rented a car and visited Death Valley, Red Rock, Zion park.
Total time and money spent on gambling: Zero, None.
Total money spent on rooms and meals (all buffets): Zero (all comped or paid with resort credits).
Total money spent on sight seeing: Zero (have national park annual pass).

The other trips were gambling trips, I never rented a car.

I was one to never rent a car, it seemed like too much of a hassle. But I saw the light and the past few years I always rent a car. We enjoy doing a lot of things around the area and it's just a lot more convenient to hop in a car and go. I could see if you limit yourself to the strip or downtown not renting a car certainly. Uber/Lyft has been made that mode of transport much more affordable than a cab and that's great for some. Lately my casino of choice is the Palms and it's so convenient to park in front. We take the Rio shuttle to/from the strip if we are going there for a show or to eat. Easy. And driving to/parking for strip properties is easy too. Virtually all of the parking garages have back entrances, you never have to drive on the strip. Of course the new parking fees do change the equation.

But we do so much around the area I could never be without a car, there's so much to do beyond the strip/downtown.

I'm really curious to see if anyone else handles this the way I do. I'm generally comped by CET at a mid-level property like Bally's. I also like Fremont/Fremont East a lot. So I leave Bally's and walk north on the Strip. I pop my head into places to eat/drink/gamble/take a load off. When I get tied of doing that, say, by the time I get to the Wynn, I just let the Deuce bus "save" me from the rest of the walk. And because I covered a chunk of the distance on my own, it doesn't really take that long for the bus to pull up near Fremont, and it's only a few bucks. Just curious if anybody has done such a thing in the past.

Walk primarily. I do buy monorail passes though to use to get from ond of the strip to the other in a hurry. To go downtown i take uber. From or to LAS it's uber or sometimes a limo

Walking unless it's more than 15-20 minutes, then uber/lyft.

    Bell Limo to/from McCarran.

90% of the time I'm staying somewhere on the strip and I don't mind walking so that's the primary mode, but on days when it's cold/raining (as on my Xmas trip LY) or when it's very hot I'll taxi it around. Also if I'm going some distance (center strip to Mandalay Bay, for ex) I'll taxi it, just for the time savings and convenience. The key to taxiing is knowing your route and not letting them haul you.

I use Uber at home and would use it more in Vegas but a lot of the resorts still don't make it convenient to do so, either the Uber/Lyft stand is far away from the valet entrance or you can't get cell reception in the garage to call them.

I enjoy the whole Las Vegas valley. If I didn't have a rental car to get to all of the great local's casinos, local sites, local restaurants and stores it wouldn't be Vegas to me. I love the city. I have 7 large casinos right near my home (Atlantic City) so it isn't a trip just for the gambling; I love the CITY of Las Vegas.

I rent a car every time I go to Vegas. But it spends the entirety of the trip parked as its primary purpose is to keep miles off my car.

With that said since the last 4 trips I've stayed at Ballys or Caesars, my primary mode of transportation is beating my two feet.

I have been using hotel private limo service for past few years.... it's great very convenient however I still have to tip the driver so I'm sure it's coming out like using "taxi" ... if it's next door hotel I just walk but I'd anything further I use it...I believe they offering me as a "comp" value tho
