I'm going to DC for the Women's March on Washington this month. We're doing Vegas next month and spending a week in Cocoa Beach in April. WHAT TO DO IN MARCH???

So Royal Caribbean offers 5 nights on the Independence of the Seas for 750K LPs and my husband snatches it up. Oh, yeah...our 44th cruise celebrating our 44th anniversary.

He needs to confirm the dates off work tomorrow, then I'll make the reservation. $87.21pp for taxes. Not a fan of short cruises, but for free, no problem! Really surprised to find a spring sailing available for points.

Only been on one cruise, and loved it.

Hope you have a great time, and congrats!

Congrats on the trip and upcoming anniversary.

I've been looking at those cruises that MyVegas offers to burn thru some points. All you have to pay is whatever fees are associated with the cruise and one reward is good for 2 people? Tempting.

Where did you see a March cruise for 750k? All I see for the Independence of the Seas is a February cruise for 650k.

That is correct - double inside stateroom (in this case) for the points plus the taxes. Thanks!

Is that a screenshot from a desktop computer? I only play from an app, so I guess that could be why it hasn't appeared for me.

Could also be her location in FL. Maybe she's put money in the game. Maybe it's completely random? I would jump at a RC cruise in March in a heartbeat! Independence is a great ship!

I'd like to know the answer to that myself, but what I do know is that the Empress of the Seas does not have standard balcony cabins. There's only interior, ocean view, and suites. Empress accounts for the two January sailings currently listed as rewards.

From what others have posted, yes, Royal Caribbean is happy to take your money to upgrade the stateroom. I'll decline...I don't care about standing on my bed to look out a little window that doesn't open and their balcony fares are obscene.

Screen shot WAS from a laptop and yes, I'm in Florida and I have paid for points (probably less than $100 but enough to get 4 MLife rewards.) March is prime time so we're psyched. We have sailed on the Independence's sisters so we know we like that class of ship. I wish the cruise was longer, but it's all good!

Thanks for all of this info. RC rewards always cross my mind since I have a ton of LPs to burn, but don't get a lot of mention here on the board, so I always forget to ask about people's experiences using them.

How much were they wanting to upgrade to a balcony? I always have gotten the impression that a balcony on a cruise ship for a first timer is like most folks suggesting that a Vegas newbie stay center Strip.

For what it's worth, all the cruise packages are showing up on my Facebook rewards.

I contacted RCCL directly, and they confirmed for me that to upgrade to an ocean view, balcony, or even suite, you just pay the difference in the current rates. Essentially, you get a credit equivalent to the interior cabin price. You can also add a third or fourth person to the room, in most cases. Certain rooms are designed for 3 and 4 person capacity, so availability would be the key there. You'd have to pay the normal rate for the 3rd/4th person.
