Yeah I mean max betting has been the "Policy" most places anyway. Was it always enforced by the bar staff, no, but why would they? Their motivation is tips and if people are tipping will betting .25 or whatever why would they care?

I really don't think this is an issue on par with resort fees and parking fees, the casinos are finding a way to enforce the policy that has always existed.

Just to clarify here, I don't think it is new, it's just the first time I noticed the sign. It appeared to be on one machine only, I know the nearby machines did not have the sign. It was done with one of those tape marking machines. It did not look fresh.

There is way too much hubbub over this "drink issue". The bottom line remains: If you are gambling, you will get your drinks. If you are betting $.05 a spin, you haven't earned a drink. Sorry.

I couldn't agree more. You play ..you drink. The only difference now ( for most) is that they are making it obvious to all that they, casino, wants to see you play! And now you know that they see you!!

I've seen pictures of people with 20+ tickets in front of them. They can't drink what they "earn"!

We just did two nights at Cosmo. We play five coin quarters VP. The current voucher system presents no problem for us whatsoever.
    The plus side:
    1) bartenders are very solicitous in explaining to newbies that a twenty dollar buy in will get them a free first drink
    2) we started getting coupons after about fifteen minutes of play
    3) much better than red light/green light which disqualified you for making a phone call
    4) after an hour we would have five or six coupons between us, we could stop playing and simply have drinks at that point
    5) no reason to be embarrassed about asking for that sixteen dollar cocktail shaker drink while playing quarters
    6) people who only bought in for the first free drink knew that they should leave, freeing a seat

    The down side:
The bean counters will probably want to tweak this more than they love to tweak pay tables.

    ???

Doesn't Cosmo's clock fully start over if you take a 60 second break (bullshit, imo)? With the red light/green light, don't you just have to play faster to get it back to green again? Or did a bartender flat out refuse to serve you because you were on the phone?? I didn't get much testing in with this stuff last trip. They pretty much just converted to these systems while I was there. My favorite bar obeyed my wish, they didn't install it until after I left town.

what he means is that once you get a ticket, you can stop playing, and you are still entitled to have a drink.
In the Red/Green light system, whenever you stop playing, you are red and can't ask for a drink.

In their defense I had more tickets than I could sit and drink. I gave them away to people waiting for their machine to print one. Usually had a pile of 5-6 every time I played at Chandelier bar. The drinks were great and I didn't need to get shit faced at 8am.

FTR, when I was at Cosmo in October I had tickets left over from the night before and the daytime bartender wouldn't accept them because I wasn't playing at the time.

This new system doesn't bother me. You get what you earn. Too manner scammers ruin it for everyone. We were waiting for another couple to join us in front of Circus Circus to have dinner at the Steakhouse years ago. We were waiting out front. There was a very large group of people outside and I thought is was some meeting or something. Everyone had a drink. Slowly I realized these people we just there for the free drink. They would finish there drink, go inside and wait for a waitress to come by and play a credit. Get the free drink, and no tip, and head back outside. Cheap bastards.

The tickets expire 2 hours after they are printed, but, early on, you could find a bartender who didn't check the expiration. I would figure that loophole has been closed through "training" since then. Though you never know if some of them still don't care as long as there is a nice tip involved...

I think a green wristband should be worth at least five free ones!
Perhaps more if you're in the midst of a live TR!

I asked the bartender that night and they stated it was good for 24hrs. The day bartender didn't even look at the tickets, just flat out told me I couldn't use them because I wasn't playing at the time

24 hours was what we were told by all bartenders except for the one. Sometimes one of their validation machine did not accept the drink ticket so they would check at another machine - no problems at all. There was again the one exception - the same bartender who told us 2 hours limit. I had to suggest to him to check at another machine which he did and it was fine.
