Not sure if this forum is the best place for this - but wondering if people have confirmed for sure on the new parking policies whether using your card to access the parking facility will generate a gaming day. I thought initially with MGM they said the answer was no - but would appreciate an update on MGM or confirmation re CET if available. Have a friend headed to Vegas and was wondering whether to offer to give him my cards to use just for parking. Would not want him to do that if it generates a gaming day.

On a somewhat related note/comment during my last trip I sat down at a VP machine in Bellagio with a card. As I would typically do I just set the card on the top of the machine - but noticed it was a Noir card. Played there for a half hour or so and when no one came to claim the card I decided to take it with me thinking - this will likely always be someone that gets free parking. Most of my play is with CET so I am just Pearl at MGM. That qualifies me for free parking now - but I am guessing that may change. Maybe I just send that card with my friend? Will be interesting to see if a "black market" develops where people "sell" extra players club cards just for people to use to get in and out of the parking garages?

I'm not aware of any black market for high level players cards for free parking in AC.

In Atlantic City there are signs at the parking cashier saying that valid ID must be presented with the platinum or diamond card. I have never been asked yet, but the sign does state that it is required.

Sometimes they swipe our card and sometimes they just wave us through. They've never asked for ID.

As much as I hate casinos charging for parking, it's probably not worth the embarrassment should they ask for ID. And also I think if they figure you get benefits at someone else's expense (those charges will come off of the comp budget for the noir player if they swipe the card), they might bar you from the property.

I doubt a high limit player would sell an extra card to make a few bucks. I also think it would take a lot of nerve for the casinos to ask for Id for the parking. Especially if it's busy. You're already charging a fee then to make a long line to get in would be adding insult to injury. Just my 2 cents.

Actually this "black market" already exists unfortunately. I have seen several high level player cards for sale in past years. People do sometimes leave their cards in machines when they leave, which is one way sellers acquire them. Sellers advertise as selling them as "casino collector items" but I imagine many of the buyers are likely using them for parking, etc.

There was no benefit except for parking until recently. I guess maybe buffet line passes if they just let you flash the card and not use it otherwise. No other reason you would want someone else's card.

As to earlier comments - if using the card to swipe for parking doesn't invoke a gaming day then it would not impact anyone's other comps. I suspect that is the case as I don't think the parking swipe machines are otherwise connected to the system. I would guess they just read what is on the card to determine the card type/level. But I could be wrong about that - which is the reason for the initial post.

At least at the Luxor, they also have a camera that reads the license plate so you can't use a voucher someone else dropped, which I embarrassingly discovered a couple of weeks ago. Neither kiosk at the exit accepted cash either, so I told the attendant I didn't have a card so they'd have to back everyone up while I reparked and went to the walk up kiosk. I hoped that causing a minor traffic jam might persuade the attendant to just let me through....wrong.

There was a receipt sticking out of the walk up kiosk, so I decided to take it and see if it would work. That is when I noticed "checking license plate" on the other exit readout before it said something like "invalid voucher." The bar is still down and another attendant walks up to see what the problem is. She looks at me like an idiot for trying to use a receipt instead of a voucher to pay so I played dumb (actually I wasn't playing at this point) and said, I put the thing in the thing and got this thing. She said, do you have a card? The cheapo asshole in me said "nope" and she goes into the spiel about how she'd have to back everyone up so I could go to a walk-up kiosk. Growing tired of my own charade, I suddenly remembered I had a card, gave up, and paid at the drive up machine.

I fought and tried to make it a PITA for them, but they didn't even flinch. They are SERIOUS about collecting $4 for parking

I hope they check for ID as I assume they will trigger gaming days.

In AC, I've been asked more often than not for ID. In the New Orleans, I think I was asked Everytime but I think I only exited the lot 15 times.

I'm surprised they haven't tried what they do in New Orleans, 30 mins of play gets comped parking. They could also set a certain amount of tier credits to trigger free parking. In new Orleans, I believe they harrahs charged $30 a day if you didn't have the 30 min validation, or didn't have diamond or seven star.
