Slots Silver strikes

Does anyone know where in las Vegas or Laughlin I can find Silver Strike machines that give silver collectors coins. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you Jeff

There are none in Laughlin. Since the Delta Saloon in Virginia City lost theirs, the 12 (I think I counted them correctly) in Las Vegas plus the one on Colorado are the last ones.

Just FYI, if you are looking for the strikes that are made of silver you may be out of luck. The 4 queens does offer special silver strikes sometimes and they are in the red or blue containers but the machines do not always have these. Most places that have silver strike machines mostly have the clad strikes in the clear container. They aren't really silver (only a small percentage or just clad coins worth about $10). The 4 queens have strike tournaments or conventions and they may put more of the colored container strikes in the machines.

 

QQQQ releases red and blue cap strikes 4 times a year. the red caps (short for red capsuled) are typically .999 silver center, the blue caps are typically colorized clad (silver plated brass center).

They also release 148 $300 strikes during those times

The schedule is:

January (Silver Striker Tournament)
March (St. Patrick's Day)
June (Silver Striker tournament)
October (Halloween)

The exact dates are published on the Silver Striker website.

The red/blue caps are put into the machines the Wednesday before the $300 distribution, which normally occurs at 5PM Saturday in January and June, and 10AM Friday in March and October.

Venetian/Palazzo have "new" red/blue caps in their machines currently. I published pictures of them in my latest TR.

 

I don't know the true metallic content, but two places I've seen the strike machines semi-recently have been Venetian and Sams Town. Sams town is on the right as you enter through the main casino door from outside. Venetian is kinda by the escalator as you go down into the main casino.

 

According to a recent post on the Silver Striker board, Sam's Town has removed their machine.

The metal content of the centerpiece is (on the current strikes stamped .999 silver) is approx. .5 ozt. (troy ounces)

 

That's a bummer if true. I guess the two I got in September will be the last I get from Sam's Town.

Shoot. I was gonna stop by there this weekend too. I have about 8 of their regular ones + 2 blue cap ones.

 

I am sure it the move from mechanical slots is the primary reason for these machines disappearing.
Would like to see them make a comeback but companies will find the overhead on these machine to cut too much into the cost.
If they start putting out new machines, I wouldn't be surprise if casinos would starting charging a fee to play these machine to cover the overhead.

 

There have been rumblings about prototype new machines coming out, but the news has tapered off.

The only problem I've ever seen, having logged hundreds of hours on Silver Strike machines, is the turrets (strike dispensing mechanism) jamming, and THAT is typically a problem when a casino first get's em (maintenance procedures not refined/understood). I have NEVER had a turret jam at QQQQ.

It will be interesting if the cost is more than $0.75 a pull, but I would think that they'd keep the cost the same, and set the house PC .5-1% higher.

 

Downtown Las Vegas would be the Four Queens and The Cortez hotels. I don't think that they are .999 silver, but they should be ten dollar denominations. To get a $300 silver strike coin you would have to redeem 30 ten dollar strikes at the casino cage or be at a tournament. There are red and blue color capsules with $10 silver strikes that are placed randomly among the strikes in clear capsules. Please check at the casino cage they should be able to give you more information.

 

Clear caps are silver plated brass. Blue caps are colorized silver plated brass. Red caps are .999 silver. The red and blue caps are NOT randomly places, but spaced every 7 or 10 strikes in the turret.

I was at the El Co this week and they did not have any blue or red capsules. 4Q looked pretty barren too . DaiLun, do they just rotate the ones from the cage back in regularly? I looked at all machines there and didn't see any colored capsules.

 

ElCo doesn't normally have red or blue caps. They had 900 specially made for the "Life is Beautiful" event, but when those were gone, they went back to clad. It was kind "neat" to see a Silver Strike machine filled with Blue Caps.

QQQQ distributes $300 and red/blue 4 times a year. January, St. Patrick's Day, June, and Halloween. There are 148 $300 available, and 500 of each red and blue that they're going to issue. In January, it's one $300, two reds and two blues. The theme is Marilyn Monroe and the strikes can be seen on the Silver Striker news page @ www.silverstrikers.com

The reds/blues are put into the machine on Wednesday morning before the Friday (or Saturday, in the case of January and June) $300 distribution.

At the $300 distribution, they get "back" 4,440 clear caps (148 x 30) to keep things going.

 

i have a question about the Silver Strike coins. while going through our old coins, i found a Rio Silver Strike coin. I didn't know what it was and hub said a friend of his gave it to him in the 90's.
where do i get info on this? First I've heard of it.

for more information on your Rio Silver Strike. AFAIK, there are no Silver Strikes from Rio that have "exceptional" value, so $20-$25 at the most.

 

With the price of Silver, all .999 Silver ones are worth about $11 currently. They have .6 Oz Silver, so they are worth more then $10 when the price of Silver is above $16. The clad ones that aren't Silver, are only worth $10 at the casino and maybe more if they are rare and you know a collector.

 

Went on a little silver strike hunt this past Vegas trip. Got 1 red cap, a few blue caps and regulars from Venetian/Palazzo and Four Queens.... question - I have accumulated around 20+ of the 4Q regular $10 coins (winter spring summer fall) - if I were to get 30 of them, can I just go to the cage and exchange all 30 for the $300 coin? does V/P also do this? and is there a place where I can see what the current available designs on the coins they have?
