Unfortunately the "Drinks2You" program at V/P is no more. It was not there on our last two trips. I have been asking on our reviews and feedback with our host for its return, but I haven't heard that its back yet. Last trip one of the CW told us they were having too many issues with people not understanding how to clear out orders or ordering and then switching machines.

We found it easy, but did hear a lot of older patrons complaining about it.

That probably means the system was understaffed. People were too impatient on waiting for the drink and left the machine. The system works great in CET Tunica if they are adequately staffed. If not, it can suck. Also the CET system clearly points out when your order is actually being filled. I dunno if the Drinks 2U system did that.

I will probably stop by TAG this weekend. I'll talk with the bartenders there and if I remember, I'll add to the thread. Last time I was there it was mid-August and no light system was in place. I think my wife and I are there often enough (and tip well enough) that at times I was playing single-quarter blackjack and she was playing Texas Tea at 30 cents a spin, and we were still getting new drinks every 15 minutes.

I like to look at the glass as half full though, so to speak. Not happy with the new service protocol at vp bartops? Move 20 feet over to a penny slot, toss a buck in, and just wait for a cocktail waitress. The majority of the time they'll give my wife and I each a drink, even if one is playing and one is watching.

As an aside, a couple of years ago the Linq had people taking orders on an ipad, and then a CW bringing them to you, but that's gone the way of the dodo now. Anybody know why that happened?

Yeah, CET made the major move around the weekend I was there (NFL Week 1). Fortunately TAG was one of the last ones to get them and I was gone before they were installed. I can guarantee single quarter won't fly though unless you play like you're on crack. And even then I'm not sure it would turn it green.

If you have patience slash don't want specific specialty beers/mixed drinks, then yeah, you're better off on the floor waiting for a waitress. I have some of the worst luck with waitresses in a casino.

Thanks for the heads up - That's bad news :( and will probably result in me just paying for more drinks at the bar and bringing them to a slot. I get way too impatient to wait for CW if they don't come around fairly often.

Is there an active list anywhere that shows which Strip casinos have / don't have the VP bar red light- green light system? I'd like to visit the ones without the system when I visit in December...

All CET properties have the light system. No MGM properties do but a few have the ticket system (Mirage and MGM Lobby Bar are the two I know of). Cosmo also has the ticket system.

I agree bboy, CW service at both sides of V/P has declined over the past couple years IMHO. Drinks2You was a real uptick in service. But on our last trip we had several mornings where we were about the only ones around (we like to stay on EST schedule while out there) and we wouldn't see a CW for hours. And we tip well, especially when its slow, we feel sorry for the girls and give them a bit extra. I rarely resort to buying a drink at the bar, we'll just walk elsewhere. But we were spending most mornings playing VP at the book in order to get a good buzz going early with good drink service.

Can you give me some examples where this has worked in Vegas recently?

Why do you want it changed? If you're actually playing you'll still get your drinks.

Thanks for the clarification! So CET has the the light system, MGM has paid parking.... not sure which is worse. But what's worse than both is the "Triple Zero" roulette some places are trying. That's just bush-league!

As I explained in my previous post, I like drinking at my speed - whether that's 10 minutes per drink or 30 mins. I also don't like it that your clock gets reset if you go to the bathroom or want to watch TV or text someone for a few minutes. And MGM properties let me do that. So why would I want to stay at a place where I don't enjoy the rules when I have other options that I do enjoy?

FWIW, we were at GC in September, and playing VP near the front bar. No problem getting White Russians from the cocktail waitress in the times we were there.

It seems that the problems with free drinks are sitting at the casino bars. Just move to a free standing machine and you should be fine.

Valid point but you should experience it for yourself before you decide you need to change properties. I see lots of complaining about the changes but haven't seen anyone going thirsty.

Regarding the "resetting of the clock" if you go to the bathroom or take a break to watch the game, etc., is there hard evidence as to how that works? How long it takes for the reset, etc? Seems to me the system should allow for brief periods of non-play for chatting with the bartender, ordering a drink, checking scores, etc.

Maybe that's just me being naïve.
