    what about their fries? I heard they aren't the best because only single fry (not blanch) and are limp.

    That's what we got without asking, bordering on overdone. I'd rather have soggy vs. overdone if forced to choose.

    You don't get crispier. Just more done. Fresh potatoes need to be blanched first at a lower temp to remove some of starch and partially cook. Then fried again at normal temp. Most places use frozen fries which this blanching has already been done. Look it up. Using fresh potatoes for fries that are cooked on the inside and crispy on outside is a 2 step process. I won't bore you with dozens of articles that back this.

    That's how we do 'em at home. In-N-Out will double dunk for you. The probably won't adjust the temp from 360 to 373, however.

    Absolutley agree on the blanching making for a better potato end-product. I even do this on mashed potatoes...blanch, drain, hit in a cold water bath, dump water, refill water, and finish boiling. Keep's them from getting gummy.

    I've actually found nicer restaurants sometimes have the worst, greasiest fries...maybe this is why....its always baffled me how cheaper places often have better fries...preblanched in cheaper places would explain it.....

    Nice. I find in n out fries sort of cardboard-y when cooked the regular way. I know they're just potatoes but something papery about them.
    Sometimes im not in the mood for them and sometimes I like em

    Moderator Note:
    Moved these posts out on their own since they veered away from the topic of In-N-Out opening at Linq.

    Personally, I can live with or without their fries. Nothing really special there to me, but, if you going to go, you gotta get the burger, fries, and the shake :feedme:

    Its all subjective as we can see. In n out fries are disgusting when they sit for too long and if they are fried a second time to warm them up. Apparently the company has a policy that if the fries sit for too long and get cold for some reason, they throw them back in the fryer to "warm them up". In which case they end up like cardboard as mentioned above. So I watch the fry cook to make sure he does mine right and if for some reason I dont like them, I just ask for a new box.

    Speaking about shakes..mmmmm their shakes are so awesome. I can take an IV of their chocolate straight into my bloodstream.
    Their strawberry shake is sort of too watery always. Is it just the locations I go to or is it everywhere?
    Dont you get perturbed when they put a half open straw into your drink and take the paper cover off? Usually Im bringing drinks and shakes home for everyone so it looks unsanitary to the recipient.

    Oh...

    Back to the fries.

    :)

    In N Out
    Burger = ✔️
    Shake = ✔️
    Fries = ❌

    In 8+ visits I've never had 'good' fries - either soggy or overdone - so I just skip the fries cause for me it's the burger and shake that matter.

    I can attest too:
    In about 2000+ visits
    I've never had 'good' fries too.
    So i would say your sample size is certainly not of no merit!

    Really I appreciate what the mod did here for clarification. But in reality, InNOut fries are nothing to holler about to warrant their own thread! Lol :p

    Thanks MOD! I think it was a great move to have a thread just for the fries.

    @gotChopin - I bet it morph's into more than just In N Out fries .

    Animal fries are the best. You can get upside down animal fries too! MMMMM! Or add some freshly diced onions on top too.
