    My Trip Report

Heading to Del Rio Texas to drop off one of my boats. Looks as though the damn motor shit the bed again....good news is that it should be covered under warranty yet again. I am going to stop at my "local" casino the Lucky Eagle. I have never been, but it's on my way back and figure what the hell. It's only a poker and slot casino....no other tables. Looks as though it's about 3.5 hours away from my house.

    To do list:

1.) Successfully drop off my boat without issue.
2.) Get a handy from the Lucky Eagle!
3.) Take pictures of the adventure.
4.) Successfully navigate back home with no issues and more money than what I started with.

I will take 1k to play with and let the Lucky Eagle do the rest.

Hope Mr Moneybags and Lucky Lepracahn and Hot Red Ruby slots are kind to you; pretty good slot selection in both the old part of the casino and the shiny newer section.. Staff and locals there are friendly, the river cafe and sports cafe food is cheap and quite good for a quick bite. Happy hour at the lobby bar is always busy with half price food (very good) and drinks.
We travel there once a year for an overnight; in three trips have had one handy on dollar slots, but enough small wins to break even.

    Best of luck!

    I love motorboating! :wink2:

    (Boats aren't half bad either!)

I hope the Lucky Eagle is extremely giving to you, mrjvegas!
Let's see you multiply that 1K through multiple handys!

Best of luck soaring to victory!

As a fellow Texan, thank you for this TR. But as someone who loves Vegas and has never been to my "local" casino... now I might go there :goofy:

Curious to see what your thoughts are on the casino. As a fellow Texan we might visit once a year because my parents love it and it is a quick trip from SA. I have never had much luck there but never really gamble much.

    To do list:

1.) Successfully drop off my boat without issue.

Boat got dropped off without issue.

2.) Get a handy from the Lucky Eagle!

    Hahahahaha....um eh....negative ghost rider.

3.) Take pictures of the adventure.

I had issues with both phone and connectivity for some odd reason.....didn't take near the pics I wanted to.

4.) Successfully navigate back home with no issues and more money than what I started with.

First part is a yes, but coming back with more money than I started with? That would be a negative as well. The final tally was -$320.

Random thoughts from my trip to the Eagle:

1.) When starting up a players card they give you a free play of $10. I put $20 in the machine to start the free play and I played on that for nearly 3 hours. I built that tito up to $75.08. I went on to lose that and $300 more after upping my bet.

2.) Very low minimums and maximums. Most mins were between 30 and 50 cents.....most max bets were $3 and under.

3.) Slot selection was pretty weak with a lot of slots I've never hear of. (knock offs of popular slots.) Slots didn't feel right......reels would spin abnormally long at times and abnormally short at times. Like on the WoZ machine you couldn't hit the button to stop the reels etc. Every machine just had a strange feel to it.

4.) Casino had a new part and old part......both were nice and clean and for the most part well lit and ventilated.

5.) Very nice food selection with a couple high end eateries on site along with a buffet and two budget friendly places to eat. They had two really nice looking walk up bars as well.

6.) Poker room looked awesome, but the problem? Not one single person was playing....yikes.

7.) The hotel looks brand new and modern.....attached to the casino and a very very short walk to get into the action.

8.) Favorite slot that they had was called Haunted House After Dark.....a lot of fun and I'll post a bonus round vid.

Would I recommend this place for a quick fix and would I go back? Yes and yes......

@mrjvegas - I really enjoyed your summary TR. You made it look easy!
LOL about the poker room - I've always seen people go in that door but I never peeked in....We had some phone issues in certain parts of the casino, but after turning off and back on it seemed to hold a signal better..lots of visible security..agree with good food choices there; except buffet isn't great and would only do again on a 2 for 1 cause their desserts were quite good in our opinion.

Sorry you didn't get a handy - the only one I've gotten there was on a dollar Hot Red Ruby where the screen randomly turns red and respins x number of times. I'm hooked on those plus Lucky Ducky and Moneybags (only found at Indian casinos I think because they are based on Bingo/class 2 or something like that). I've seen lots of handy's on the $2 and $5 denomination slots on the main floor and HL room - but we don't take that size bankroll outside of Vegas.

Have stayed at the hotel a couple of times for a one nighter as we are 4 hours away, and it's a nice standard room, clean and quiet, staff is pleasant.

Nice slot pics - haven't played those particular ones yet - maybe next year..but man it is in the middle of nowhere getting there....

Looks like you had the same food at River Cafe that I like so much there - fresh, tasty, and cheap!!! image.jpeg

I noticed the same issue while playing the slots. I thought it had something to do with them all being bingo based since all slots have a bingo card that plays as you spin. The hotel is nice and the best part is no resort fees or taxes. Thanks for the update on your thoughts.
