I'm a creature of Vegas habit, and my wife's job is really screwing with me... I almost exclusively stay at Cosmopolitan and focus my play there. I have a host and always get the room and most dining covered, as well as transportation to/from airport. My wife has a conference later this month for 2 nights and we'll be staying at Bellagio because her company is paying. That leads me to my question: Does playing at Cosmo this trip make sense, since I'm not staying there and likely not dining there? Am I better off playing at Bellagio and just getting my comps there? My two goals are 1) don't screw up the good thing I have going with Cosmo and 2) enjoy my time at Bellagio while still seeing the benefits I get at Cosmo. Any thoughts?
Start a second relationship with another property. If you venture into the Cosmo, don't use your card, unless you plan some serious play. Protect your interests and establish new ones.
100% correct! If you visit Cosmo... do not use your card for play, or for drinks, or for food. UNLESS - you plan to do somewhat reasonable play. I would decide which place you want to spend your time and play. Having a 2nd casino for your trips is always a good idea. I assume you will actually stay longer than two days? On the other hand, if you have some good offers at Cosmo and can take advantage of them, then go for it. Of course, you do not need a room this time around, unless you stay there for a few days.
Only play at Cosmo if you can do your normal average daily play AND it will make the difference in whether you reach a higher tier during your "player year." Unless both apply, stick to Bellagio, or even spread a little play over at Caesars if you don't already have a CET account. Cosmo will give you the freeplay from an active offer even if you're not staying there, but it's not worth wrecking your ADT.
will your wife be gambling? how about you both use her card at the cosmo. the company that she works for, are they hiring??
Good advice. I play at the MGM Grand here in Detroit, so I have that relationship, but the offers I get from MLife are crap compared to Cosmo. I used to have a host at MGM Grand Las Vegas but we lost touch once Cosmo opened. Maybe I should try to contact a host at bellagio and see if they can do anything for me based on my previous Cosmo play? Is it even worth going through that trouble for a short trip, though? I'll probably skip Cosmo altogether. I was just there in July so I'll take the advice and build up some good will at another property. I'm really only there for about 46 hours...get in at Noon Tuesday and out on a 10am flight Thursday. Not gonna pass up a chance to get out there...especially one where my non-gambling wife will be distracted by work and I can get some solid time in at the tables without feeling guilty. Like I said above, I'm not crazy about MLife so I may start up a CET account. For CET, is it better to focus on one property, or can I spread my play around a few of their casinos and get basically the same benefits? Unfortunately, she's not a gambler. She looks at my blackjack bets and says, "that's a pair of shoes, that's a pair of shoes..." But she loves going to Vegas with me and is always up for all the other fun the town provides!
Too bad it is so short. We always added a few days onto company trips when we both went. As to comps... if your room is covered, and many some meals via the company, there is less to get "comped" off on the back end - yes? No? If you do Bellagio, you will build some goodwill for next time. And, you will be close by if your wife gets a break and wants to meet up with you. (side comp) If you do Cosmo, guessing you can get some freeplay or a dinner if you call them. If you play strong enough, you will be in good shape for the next trip, especially since you will be UNDER comped on this one (no room, limited F&B). But, about 15 minutes to get back to Bellagio by time you cash out, make the walk, find her.
Overall, at CET you can spread your play around and still get the same offers. They do have a thing where they establish your "home" property, but I don't really know how that factors into things. Because Caesars Palace is easily their best property, I think the safest thing to do is do the majority of your CET play there on a first go, but you definitely can still spread it around a little.
It's definitely a short trip, but I was there in January and July, and I'm likely to be back in December or January, so I'll take this bonus trip for what it is. The Bellagio room is covered by her company, and all of her meals are covered, but they're mostly with her coworkers and clients, so I'm not going to join them. The only thing I'll be paying out of pocket is food and transportation, and I probably won't be going too far from the hotel unless I hit an unlucky streak at Bellagio. As far as "side comps" go, I'm always up for that...
Good plan. I've never had much luck at Caesars, but it's usually because I'm trying to do quick hits as I walk through.
Caesars is their top property... but see no reason to do majority of play at any particular CET property. Pretty sure play at Paris or Ballys or PH would be just fine.
Yeah, it's just the unknown factor of what effect (if any), having a "home" casino at CET has. People have said it exists, but I don't remember anybody ever describing the impact.
Yea, it is a mystery... but if there is any bearing on the HOME casino, or the play, then Caesars might not be the best place to play. They have the bigger spenders, and therefore average spenders get lost in their system. Or might. But, being a bigger player at a lesser casino could be to a players advantage. That is part of what keeps me out of Wynn, Aria, etc.
