Genting recently reported very good financial results coming out of their European properties and Malaysia.
    No shortage of cash there.
However the Malaysian Ringit has taken a hit against the USD in the last year or two which makes building in the US much more expensive for them.

Update from Asian investment bank that "significant work" that was reported to begin by the 4th quarter of this year has been pushed back to the first part of 2017, with an projected opening now in late 2019.

It might be time to really call BS on this one ever going foward.

LOL.....after I type this and a mini-rant on the new Alon thread about these projects teasing us, RW comes out with another Tweet titled "preparations are underway" with a picture of a couple of vehicles near the parking garage

I'm not holding my breath on either of those. Any bets that somebody else buys either or both of them out before any substantial work?

Thanks for the article. It puts the two projects in better perspective. If they are right, I think that the existing casinos may respond as well.

Would those 2 be within walking distance or walking distance to any other casino?

Resorts is north strip in the old Stardust/Westward HO location. Easiest walks should be Circus Circus to the north and WynnCore to the south plus the convention center expansion if that happens. Lucky Dragon is offstrip and nearest the The STRAT and SLS. Funny, I looked up Google maps to confirm the location and it had the most prominent casinos, hotels and restaurants in the area except SLS unless you zoomed the map in. Curious.

Resorts World to Encore, 1.1 miles.
    To circus circus, 1/2 mile.
    To SLS, 1 mile

All I remember is that when the Dust was open, I was able to casino hop from there to CC, the Riv and Wynn at the time easily. Walking a mile to another casino should be a big deal on the strip.

Encore is right across the street from the lot which will be adjacent to RW, so there's no way in hell that's 1.1 miles. And I don't see how Circus Circus, practically next door to RW, would be even half a mile.

Then blame google. I put them in the map for walking directions.

Walking distances in Vegas can be REALLY long and deceptive! Yes, "next door" can still be 3/4 of a mile or longer walk, esp north Strip.

I have walked many many times on the North, Mid, and South Strip. The North Strip, which i consider anything north of Spring Mountain RD, used to have many Hotels/Casinos you could hop in and out up to Sahara Blvd. Starting with the Frontier and ending at Sahara (with the Stardust, Riviera , the Birds, along with the present Circus), the walk was very doable from the South and Mid.
The difference was that in those days you always had places to go on the North Strip to stay, eat, go to a show, whatever, thereby "shortening" the walk. The distance between Sahara Blvd and Spring Mountain Rd has remained the same, but the perception is now, with most of the resorts gone, that walking along the Strip north of TI/FSM/Wynn-Encore, is just not worth it. All you have to do is visually look up the Strip (north) and see how sparse the "crowd" is. Most people venture back south on the Strip when they're leaving FSM,Wynn.

That's why most of the Resorts now, from Wynn down to MB, have all the walkers. Vegas loves walkers, that's where the money is. Gambling, for the most part, has slightly gone down, however, the walkers make up for it in other ways. That's why you have Lakes, Volcanoes, a Big Wheel, Roller Coasters, etc, That's why you have many CVS, Walgreens etc, Walkers allow Vegas to entertain the masses both inside and out, sort of a carnival barker....."Step right in folks".............

If Resorts World, Alon, etc build resorts on the North Strip to buddy up with CC, SLS, the addition of the Strip venue of the Convention Center, the North Strip will once again have walkers, or at least do much better than it is now. I would hope, and expect, other businesses to open up once the future resorts have opened. Walking traffic is what the North Strip needs......even if people have to avoid the Timeshare "how long are you in town for" people....at least there are people......LOL.

Since the building doesn't exist yet, I'm sure google pulled the center of the lot to the center of Circus Circus for that .5 mile. I literally just walked past Resorts World last week on my way to Circus Circus. The parking garage is to the right of the lot. So I'd venture to guess if you walked out the front door, of what will one day be the casino, past the parking garage, past Slots of fun and to the main entrance of Circus... It would be .5 miles.

As for Encore, Resorts World should be situated across from Convention Center Drive. Thats pretty much the center of their lot. That most certainly is not right across the street. You'd have to walk down to Desert Inn RD, past the valet and cab center of Encore to even get near the rear entrance of Encore. I'd venture to say that door to door would be a mile.

I've walked that area many times over the years. From Sahara to Stardust it was about a mile walking. (IIRC Sahara and DI are a mile apart, get out yer trig book for the extra due to the angle of LVB.) :) :)

So is that sidewalk to sidewalk or door to door? See, that makes a difference depending on how far back from LVB/the sidewalk the casino sits ;-) (and yes, I've walked the entire thing - MBay to Downtown - though not recently as I don't like the emptiness between Wynn & the Strat now.....)

Exactly. There is so much stuff on the strip from Wynncore to MB, people love to just start walking and then drift in and out of whatever catches their interest. On the other hand, sites like SLS an RW are so isolated, the "walkers" will be people who are specifically going there.

Maybe I’m reading this wrong but RW seems to be consternating on short-term variables such as currency rates and Vegas gaming trends rather that a long-term view. It doesn’t seem like RW has the courage or vision to make the investment, I’m joining the camp that says this will never get done.
