    From VitalVegas.com

Word is the beloved dinner show will soon close.

Rumors suggest ticket sales for “Tournament of Kings” have been soft, made worse by the fact many shows and retail businesses at MGM Resorts hotels have been hard-hit by drops in patronage due to the implementation of paid parking across the city.

One source said that while MGM Resorts officials vehemently deny it, many shops at Excalibur have suffered a staggering 30% drop in business because of a de facto boycott of the hotel resulting from controversial paid parking policies.

Don’t be surprised if MGM Resorts adjusts its parking fees downward to ward off further hits to the bottom line.

Could cancellation of “Tournament of Kings” lend credence to the rumor Excalibur will be rebranded, just as Monte Carlo (also owned by MGM Resorts) will be? Monte Carlo will soon become Park MGM and a boutique hotel, NoMad Hotel.

If “Jubilee!” was the end of an era in Las Vegas, the end of “Tournament of Kings” marks another. Shows are being scrutinized, and have to earn their keep, as opposed to the early days of Las Vegas when production shows were a loss-leader, intended to draw customers to the slot machines and table games where the real money was made.

MGM is over-doing it with de-theming their casinos. Monte Carlo kind of makes sense with the new arena, but de-theming a pyramid casino and castle casino is a mistake...just like their parking policies.

How can they detheme excalibur? I mean, it has a sort of distinctive look from the outside.

Replace the Knights with Damsels in distress, or is it damsels with no dress? Let them run around and point swords at each other. And when they ride the horses....woo hoo!!!:p

Seriously, it's sad to think it being closed down. We had fun as a family when we went. So cheesy but a lot of fun. When they served the food this guy goes around yelling "Dragon Blood!" Lol, he was serving tomato soup with the Cornish chicken and broccoli. So corny but memorable.

Call it the Kardashian Kastle, make it into a place where the rich, obnoxious spoiled kids can hang out and spent $1K on a $20 bottle of booze, get falling down drunk and fight and puke:vomit: everywhere.......oops, sorry that place already exists, the Las Vegas Strip I believe it is called!;)

They will probably try and ignore the architecture which will further alienate the people who are already loyal. I can see them doing what they did at TI and to a lesser extent at Monte Carlo and that didn't work. They are assuming millennials won't accept a theme but I think they aren't interested in the half assed ones Vegas is offering. They need to double and triple down on the theme but take out the family friendly angle.

If this is true and parking is hurting the business at Excal, it's good thing for us. It means people aren't parking elsewhere and walking over to Excal. Luxor would probably have a hit in business too. It also means that the other low end hotel operators have to be careful because that customer has hit their limit. There are two reasons for the fees not to spread, at least not in the way MGM decided to roll them out.

The MGM parking fee decision will go down with "New Coke" as the dumbest decision EVER. I hope the Mensa who decided on that one gets canned.

I like themed casinos. Making everyone "modern" makes them all look alike in a way. There has too be something unique to a place.

They should go with a goth theme and have nothing but surly staff that look like they are on death's doorstep, with eyes that look like two dark piss holes in the snow.

Like some of those Caesar's CWs.

If, and its a big if, these rumors are true - it goes to show that people CAN have an impact on these changes made by casinos. Voting with you feet actually can work.

In Vegas, rumors come and go. The only mention I see of this so far is on VitalVegas. Until others that have better recognition report on it, its still only a rumor.
