What are the best, least inexpensive ways to get from the airport to downtown?

WAX bus is $2. Leaves from terminal 1 and 3. The CX is also $2 and only serves T3. Google WAX Las Vegas and you can easily find the schedule

Agree with WAX advice. The bus only makes 3 stops before stopping near Walgreen's on 4th St. 35 minutes, airport to downtown and the buses have luggage racks.

If you're old, flash a DL or Medicare card and it's a buck each way.

When I take a cab I tell the driver to take Paradise to the strip, close to The STRAT , and then head downtown. That usually runs me around $30.

After my last trip about a month ago I have totally sworn off LV cabs and signed up for Uber. I noticed this last trip that every time I gave the cabbies the route to take to where I was going they would get openly hostile and still try to long haul me. If you have a smart phone and a CC I would sign up for Uber and skip taking cabs in LV, I wish I would have done this years ago.

If you are staying downtown and want to visit the strip a very cheap way to do it is to take the Deuce or the Downtown Express. The rides aren't that long, although the Express is much quicker, and a three day pass can be had for $20 (a one-way cab fare from downtown to the strip). Both pickups are right off Fremont St. downtown and the deuce runs 24/7 (not sure about the Express).

    Have a great trip.

Hi, sorry if I seem dense but when I travel on the bus, I have to buy my ticket from a machine. So how could I flash a card?

If you are a senior citizen you can flash your drivers license or medicare card is what he is referring to. If not, it's a 2$ one way trip and the bus will accept correct change in lieu of having a ticket.

    Best? That depends.

    Cheapest is bus
    Next is Uber
    Then Taxi

I would never do bus, but applaud those that do.

The wax bus is actually very easy, not crowded, fairly quick, not seedy at all. If you give it a try I think you'll change your mind.

And no you dont have to buy a ticket from the machine, just pay cash when you board.

I've done the WAX once from the airport. Got to the bus stop a few minutes too late and had to wait a long time, maybe 30 minutes, for the next one. It was hot and windy at the bus stop. Some local guy kept trying to talk me into taking a different bus to the Bonneville Transit Center (BTC). He was rather pushy about it. As others have said you can pay on the bus but you need some ones on you as they will not provide change. I'll likely try to bus again.

Consider the location of your hotel and how much luggage you have. The bus stop is at 4th and Carson, near the Walgreens. Also, note the bus stop for going back to the airport is Casino Center at Fremont Casino (according to their website).

For now I'm really liking Uber.

I've ridden the WAX many times and intend to take it again from the airport to downtown (for $1) on Saturday. If the flight's on time, I should have around 40 minutes to get from the gate to the bus stop. Not too bad. But even if I just missed it and had an hour to kill, I'd get a $10 airport beer and wait for the next one. On a weeklong trip, the extra hour won't kill me.

I'll probably try Uber for the first time getting to the airport in Atlanta, but don't have a clue what the charge would be from McCarran to MSS. Maybe I'll find out.

When using the WAX are dollar bills acceptable or do I need to use quarters? I've read somewhere exact change, coins only. TIA for clarification.

You can also take the 108 and maybe the 109 to bonneville, the 108(I've taken it several times) takes a little longer and makes many more local stops, it's better than waiting a half hour or more IMO, the drivers wont give change for larger bills but dollars or coins are OK.

Depends where staying on Fremont and how much luggage. WAX drops off at 4th and Carson. Close to D, 4Q but 5 blocks to Cal, MSS . If going to MSS Cal Plaza you could transfer to SDX at BTC , which drops off at Main and Ogden by Cal

Did you walk to Fremont from the BTC?

Having never used Uber (though I may on Saturday to get to the Atlanta airport), does anyone have a rough estimated cost between MSS and Gold Coast? Taking buses, as I have in the past, isn't getting me all excited anymore. Of course, I'll be able to find out soon enough when I'm there, but the suspense is killing me! :)
