I was playing Craps at Oneida in Green Bay on Monday. There were three guys there who just flew into town. Said they didn't even have a room yet. I don't know where they were from, but they used passports as ID.

It wasn't long before I notice the guy standing next to the stick never bet. He just stood there. The guy next to him was the one cheating, and the guy next to him, was making large bets. The guy shooting the dice would slide one of the dice. It was extremely obvious, but none of the crew seemed to notice. The dice only slid successfully once every several rolls, but when it did slide, it was always a 3.

Now, the only bets that these guys made, were a small don't pass wager for the shooter, and a huge "no 10" bet. They would back it with a hard 6 bet, too. Often there would be $100-$150 on the hard 6, and they would lay the 10 for up to $500 each.

Now, if you throw a 3 for one of the cubes, you won't ever make a 10, and will eventually 7 out, winning your Lay bet. Plus, you have a chance at the Hard 6 every time you slide that 3 down the table.

The funny thing is, since the guy wasn't all that good at the cheat, they lost several bets on the No 10, and never once hit a 3/3 while I was there.

I went back yesterday, and I asked if the guys had been back. They told me they had been there all week. I told them about the "cheat", and they were a little shocked. The stickman told me that he knew they were up to something, but they never won!

I just thought I'd mention it, as it is the first cheating that I have ever seen in a casino.

Funny. I've been there a few times. They knew they were up to something but since they were losing they didn't sweat it lol.

Funny story. Sounds like they picked the right casino, just couldn't execute the cheating scheme. Maybe they were just practicing, getting reading for the big score.

UKFanatic asked: "Wow, you really outed them? Mind if I ask why?"

    How about this---
Why risk the casino bringing heat on thousands of honest people, when one creep drops a turd in the punchbowl?

What "heat" would be brought on thousands of other people?

There are two dealers, a stickman, and a boxman, and none of them knew what was going on! That's supposed to be part of their job. It shouldn't take a customer to notice what was happening. It's not like they're hiding the dice on the way to the other end of the table.

But...but is a really a cheat if it didn't work out, which obviously didn't. I don't know, many people have their little own habits with the dice, but that could just be superstition. Like, I always try and throw the dice at the end of the right corner, because one time I shot for 30 minutes throwing them that way.

I think it is because they were trying to gain an advantage through physical manipulation, but I also think the boxman should have called a "no roll" since he can see the dice going by right in front of him.

How much did they lose trying to cheat the casino?

Lots of folks try to set the dice. It's not cheating to me.

I think the casino knew they were trying to cheat but were so bad at it that they just let it go. They were making money so watching their efforts were probably amusing to them. They probably shared a good laugh when they went on break.

Does this casino actually check IDs, or were they young looking?

Look at it on the flip side. If people are physically trying to alter the normal random progression of the dice it impacts the odds for the rest of the players. So unless a player is in tune with how the dice manipulator is betting basically they could have their edge lowered. I think there is a difference between dice setting and physical manipulation of the dice during the throw. I am sure other people have different opinions, but I would not want to conduct myself in a way at the table that would injure other players.
Meaning if I was betting a certain way and attempting to throw a certain roll, I wouldn't hide it from the other players.

I agree. If they are simply trying to execute some kind of dice control, I don't consider that cheating. I also believe very few people have the skill to significantly influence the dice ( I'm not one of them, but I keep trying).

Dice "sliding" is different that "setting" - sliding is pure cheating since one or more of the dice never leave which means the table the outcome is pre-determined. Setting is a tossing technique which may have a pre-determined outcome but is usually random and it meets most casino standards because the dice are in the air and they reach the back wall.

Wynn lost 700K to dice sliders! It must be difficult to detect because Wynn only discovered the cheats by reviewing the security footage, it wasn't detected by the dealers or boxman.

I agree dice sliding is cheating. But it is very difficult to "slide" dice. Evidently those guys attempting it were very bad at it.

At the time, I recall reading the assumption that an inside person must have been assisting because dice sliding is actually pretty easy to detect (one die never hits the back wall). But this incident was back in 2012 or 2011, I think, and I never heard anything about it since. Makes me wonder if they worked something out with the poker players who did it and banned them from the properties in the future

Because they were cheating. I don't get this "fuck the casino" attitude that many of you guys have. You choose to go lose your money when you walk in, and you know the odds. The casino isn't an asshole because you lose money in there.

If someone is cheating me, I would like to know about it. I would hate to see people lose their jobs over some dickheads who want to cheat. I can't believe you would take a stand for these fuckbags. Unreal.

I don't believe I said I was taking a stand for either side. Clearly, it is an issue that fires you up. And if that's the case, why not say something immediately when you spotted it?
