I know, this is really frugal but I can't help myself. I posted in another post here about the vegas "alchohol" cost cutting measures, how i feel about it and how we easily combat that.

We usually drive to Vegas and bring a fabric insulated cooler full of booze & get ice from the hotel were staying at or before we get there etc. When we fly, we fly south west and I check that cooler as a bag empty (we put a empty packing box inside of it roughly the same dimensions so the cooler doesn't get crushed) then buy the booze in Nevada.

However, when we get there and wanna take our drinks with us, I'm always packing as many beers as I can in my cargo shorts,. They start getting warm and weight me down. So my solution was to to get one of these.

    OR this...

I think they both would be a popular choice for cruising the strip or hitting up Fremont street. They both also keep your beer colder longer. Maybe the wife will tip me instead of the cocktail waitress!

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Except waiting for the cocktail lady or playing/paying at the bar. Thanks!

If I was your wife, the only tip I would give you is - pretend you don't me.

It has been many years but I've had many past trips where a whole group of us rocked beer bandoleers up and down the strip. They are readily available and pretty cheap...they are also a hit with the crowds! We did get busted trying to walk into the pool with one of these. The security guy let us pour all our beers into plastic cups but could not bring in the full beer cans. As a sign of appreciation, we gave him a bandoleer and he was pumped! http://www.beerbandolier.com/

Hell yeah! I like that best suggestion of the day you get a gold trophy ! :trophy:

As for downtown. I'll just poor the rest of my beer into one of the convenient plastic cups and be on my merry way. Can't get me for a container that's not open no matter where I got it from.

LOL you get my vote for favorite quote!:goofy:
I really don't know what to say about that one :D Im guessing you haven't raided every ice machines ice within 5 floors to fill in your rooms bath tub and add a couple 5ths of Jack's and a few 30 packs of beer either :headbang: don't even get me started about not having a fridge in the room....:woot:the cooler was useless those trips....

Hey now! I would call it a smart play. Remember this is the frugal thread! There was no sign up saying "Ice limited to one bucket per room" Every man for himself! I'm gonna get my "$30 resort fee's" worth. If anything housekeeping helped us with the free trash bags to get it back to the room. :kill:and of course I tipped her!

With this belt I don't think the hotel will let you in, unless you also wear a heavy coat to cover it (in the summer). lol.

I know, it's more of a gag than anything else. Just something to have a little fun with. Someone on this board was in there 20s at one point in time.Might try it out see how it goes. Trip report comes soon! We're really frugal in the day time and classy at night. I'm not one of those drunks who ruins the white collar Tommy Bahama table with my horrible antics. IF we're drinking heavily were not gambling. Period.

I can confirm that many hotels will let you into the casino with this belt on. I used the beer bandoleer in all sorts of casinos, the Bellagio included. Unless they are cracking down on this sort of thing, but in reality you only have 1 open container at a time so I don't see the issue. The only time I got in trouble with security was when I was handing beers out to strangers...in hindsight I see why that is a terrible idea and I'm lucky I didn't get more than a warning.

Not really that much of a dick move...an ice machine can refill itself relatively quickly. It is not like he is taking an item that will never be available to others because he took it.

I'm in a state of non judgement. Will this belt be convenient? Yes. Will it save you money? Negligible. Will it irritate the crap out of your significant other? Most likely. Will onlookers think you're a goober? Some will, some will think you're a damn genius. Will it get you unwanted attention from the law? Possible. Will it be more hassle than it's worth? In my opinion, yes. Have I done worse? No, actually I haven't. I've had a sling purse stuffed with booze. I've had every pocket of my clothing full of booze. But, I've not gone that far. Has my husband done worse? Yes. Which is why I'm in a state of non judgement. I'm not bragging, I'm just telling the story. Our last trip in April, he bought a case of Bud cans at the Stage Door and walked with it to the Mirage, pulling one out and draining it as he went along. Then he got to the Mirage and decided his hands were sore from carrying the case. He checked it at the bell desk and asked them to bring it to the room. I can't explain why he did that because I don't know why. Good luck and post pics whatever you decide to do.

I had a buddy (a male) buy a cheap purse while we were in Vegas just to stuff a 12 pack of beer in it and carry it around more comfortably while in the casino. If you are not gambling much and still want to hang out with others in the casino I think this would save you a considerable amount of money; but if you are already gambling let the CW handle the beers and toss her a couple bucks.

The bonus my friend realized with the purse was he brought the purse back to his girlfriend when he got home. I think she appreciated the sentiment (not knowing why he bought it) but in reality it was an ugly cheap purse that got passed off as a gift. Apparently, I run with a group of people that would be seen as a goober, but perhaps that is why we make our Vegas trips guys only and why my wife will never understand why we do it that way!

I think it looks like a great conversation starter !

All that beer weight would make for a good workout too, like ankle weights, only different

I'm not that energetic, so I carry a flask to augment the comp drinks, but I usually head out with a beer in hand from the room that's for sure :drunk:

Well, I wouldn't say either the bandolier or the ice bathtub is really about being frugal, per se.

    But hey, have fun.

The bathtub idea was a vegas trip with like 12 or so people. Very bright minds :) We all stayed on the same floor and i think there were 5 or 6 rooms total. it was for a birthday party so we figured strategically that was the best option. So there's that back story. Probably won't happen again in my lifetime.

Well... I guess my bad luck already started. The video posted was from the boys at work they sent it to me and I had a good laugh, decided to share and a eureka moment....however..

Unbenounced to me I find out this morning that my in laws are coming. Yep wife already booked them the room on her TR card and managed to put them on the same flight as us...

So that's pretty much putting a stop to the belt idea altogether... but just cause there my 2ND parents weirds me out a little :hmmm:. On the up side...we will always have a DD and they are more than happy to pick up the check everywhere we go eat. (It's non negotiable, no matter how much we insist) as well as resort fees, airline tickets, and rental car or limo service...............:woot:

So now my trip is 100% funded travel and food wise... stay tuned...
