    My Trip Report

Did my laundry and packed my bags on Sunday ready for a four-night stay starting on Monday. Since I was going by myself and not planning on going anywhere fancy, I just brought casual clothes. I had one suitcase (check-in) and one camera bag (carry-on). I made sure I had my wallet, money, $1.4k winning sportsbook ticket, prophylactic, and VMB wristband packed. I did my on-line check-in to Southwest for my 1:30PM flight and got A47. I figured I’d get a lot of sleep so that I could stay out late the first night I got there but didn’t get to sleep until after 1:03AM.

I woke up at around 8:09AM although I set my alarm for 8:21AM. I did my regular shit, shower, and shave routine. Then I packed my toiletries, did a couple of chores, turned off the home A/C, and got on the Gold Line light rail (station is across the street from where I live). I got to Union Station 15 minutes later, got on the Flyaway bus to LAX, and was there within 35 minutes. One hour to get to the airport; no traffic and no parking fees. Waited an hour to board, then off to Sin City for my one hundredth and some odd number trip.

I took the shuttle and got lucky, I was last on the shuttle and first off. I went to Diamond check-in and switched my room from a pet-stay room to a non-pet-stay room. I didn’t want to find any presents left for me from the pet that stayed there before. I got my small bottles of water from the counter and off to my 20th floor Vista room closest to the north elevator. I took photos from my room. I didn’t have a polarizing filter so you may see some reflections off the window.

I went to Walgreen’s to get my 2 gallons of water for $4 instead of paying $30 for that much water at the hotel gift shop. I tried to take a nap but couldn’t. So I ventured out to Mirage to get my brisket sandwich from Carnegie Deli. It was getting dark so all the sportsbook cashiers at CP were closed by the time I got there. I’ll cash my winning ticket the next day.

After I got back to my room, I ate my sandwich. I was only going to eat half, but I was famished after not eating anything all day except a banana. Sandwich was OK. I liked Stage Deli better when it was in the Caesars Forum Shops, but it closed several years ago. Same with NYC, I liked Stage Deli better, but it closed there too. Then I was full, so I just laid myself on the bed. All of a sudden I opened my eyes, and it was after 4:12AM. Oh well, I had three more nights. I went back to sleep after un-inflating my bladder. The next day’s adventure to come shortly.

I got the non-pet-stay Vista room on the 20th floor. Great view on both sides of the strip.

When I got up Tuesday morning, I decided to take a walk to Venetian/Palazzo. Then, I stopped by Caesars again on my way back to cash my $1440 winning ticket. I chose Warriors over the Rockets and the under. Warriors won by over 20 and the spread was Warriors -5.5. O/U was 218 and they scored 215. This was a ticket I got on my last trip in April.

Not really a buffet person, I decided to stop by Bacchanal Buffet for lunch anyway. It was $42 just for lunch. I’m finding that as my age increases, I don’t eat as much, but the weight still increases. My weight must have something to do with the prices, not what and how much I eat. I had the prime rib, Chinese BBQ pork, Italian meatballs, and a couple leaves of lettuce for health reasons. I tried to go for seconds, but I was already full. I did manage to get some coconut gelato and a couple of almond cookies. Well, I got to try one of the better buffets and will probably not go to another one. Forgot to take pics.

On my way back to the room, I got my $200 free-play, then relaxed in my room for a couple of hours loving not having anything I have to do. I took a nap to refresh myself before going downstairs.

I went to the high-limit room to use my $200 in free-play on $5 DDB. This was the absolute worst I did. I played 8 games of $25 per game and got only a pair of jacks and a pair of aces. I cashed out for $50.

I then went to the BJ tables, I went up. I went down. Playing $25 per hand, I never really got on a streak where I played over $100 a hand. I play a positive progression game where I up my bet a unit for each win after the second win. I got nothing close to my record of winning 16 hands in-a-row at the Mirage. After about an hour of play, I was even and decided to leave the table. The CW didn’t even come by.

It was almost time for the Pleasure Pit (PP) dancers to come out, and I sat down at 3CP with a perfect view. I got my first drink. I wanted it to be a manly drink, so I ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream. After a few hands I got 3 tens. Woohoo! I was betting $20 on the pair plus and $25 on the ante for a total win of $750 including the $5 sucker bet. New dealers came in at 8PM. Oh good, we got a cute dealer. They wear their Pleasure Pit-type attire. Now I got a real drink, Belvedere on the rocks with a twist, my drink of choice at the tables since they don’t supply top-shelf whiskey or Scotch. Just as well. After three or four whiskeys I don’t remember anything for the night. After twenty minutes of staying even, they changed to the regular dealer. The cute one was the relief who comes in for 20 minutes every 1 hour and 20 minutes. The regular dealer was a buff guy. I was having fun with the other players at the table, and the PP dancer was right in front of me so I stayed. What became 6-hours of play and 10 Belvederes later, turned into me being down a few hundred. I was now at the table alone, and the PP dancers were done for the night, so I decided to play 3 more hands. I got the 5, 6, and 7 of clubs. I was now up by a few hundred dollars. After a couple of more hands I called it a night being up $600.

After I got up Wednesday morning, I went to Bellagio to take more photos and went to my favorite coffee house, Palio, where I had a coffee and a cinnamon roll.

    Bellagio.jpg Bellagiolobby.jpg Cons4.jpg Cons5.jpg Cons7.jpg Cons11.jpg Paris2.jpg JPChoc3.jpg Petrossian.jpg Palio3.jpg

I started to play the $1 DDB VP early in the afternoon. The highest I hit was a boat with a couple of flushes, a few straights and threes-of-a-kind. I ended up losing $300 in less than an hour of play. So I decided to go back to 3CP. I played for 4 hours and got 3 fours. I ended up winning $400 at this table. I then went back to my room to clean-up.

I went back downstairs to eat the prime rib special for $16.99 at Planet Dailies. It wasn’t any good. It looks like they pan-fried it instead of roasting it making for a medium-well steak, I like mine medium-rare.

Back to 3CP in my favorite seat watching the PP dancers. I eased-off on my Belvederes only having 5 this night. I played for four hours. I got another three-of-a-kind and 2 more straight flushes. I kept tipping the dancers $5 per half-hour session they had on the stage. I ended up another $1.3k. I cut that night short going back to my room at around 12:48AM. I stopped at the gift shop in the lobby to get a soda and a candy bar to satisfy my sugar fix for the night. I didn’t actually get to sleep until after 1:54AM.

    Good start!

FYI, I believe you are able to cash sportsbook tickets at the cashier's cage after the sportsbook is closed. At least I was able to at the Linq anyway.

I woke up late Thursday morning. I went back to Planet Dailies for breakfast and coffee. Thinking about going to the gym, but I never went here before, so I thought to myself, “Why start?” But I did go out to do some walking. Once I felt how hot it was, I went right back inside. I took it as a sign that I should go back to the tables. Besides, I’ll have plenty of time to hit the gym when I get back home. I went to the $25 BJ tables again. I stayed pretty much between -$300 and +$100 for the first hour. Then I hit a streak of 9 in-a-row. +25, +25, +50, +75, +100, +125, +150, +175, +200 for +925. I lost the $225 hand so I was on the plus side for $700. I didn’t get one BJ, DD, or split in that run. Then I lost around 8 hands in-a-row so my $700 turned into $500. Then for the next couple of hours I had lost another $300 so I left the table $200 up. Nap time.

OK, couldn’t take a nap. Just turned on the TV and relaxed for a while. After a couple of hours, I went back downstairs. It was an hour before the PP dancers came so I sat down at 3CP again and started with my Belvederes. For the first hour I was getting my share and more of straights and flushes, then 3 sevens. Cool, I was up over 1k. Over the next couple of hours my 1k in the red went down to even. Then, 9, 10, J of clubs. Back up around $700. Within the next couple of hours, I was again at +1k. I was into my 8th Belvedere, and it was beginning to hit me. All of us at the table were having a great time including the dealer. I went back down to +$700. Then, another straight flush. Now over 1.8k up. I made a couple of bigger bets than normal which didn’t come through, so I called it a night, thus the end of my gambling trip. I finished 1.5k up, and my total for the trip was around 3.5k. I paid off my marker, and this is what I ended up with. Damn, I forgot to take photos of the PP dancers.

    Money.jpg

Aside from gambling my trip was uneventful. Uneventful trips are fine with me if I have a positive cashflow gambling like I did. I didn’t get to go to Ellis Island and have the ribs. I didn’t have a burger anywhere. And most of all, I didn’t get to use my prophylactic (zen - I seemed to have set my sights too high). I’ll leave it as part of the tip for housekeeping. Nice to know I can cash my sportsbook ticket at the cashier. Thanx for the info. Thank you everyone for reading this. I figured I should contribute to a TR every once in a while since I go so often. Good night everyone! I’ll be back soon.

Nice TR, I enjoyed reading it. Sounds like 3CP was a lot of fun and profitable.

    I agree, nice TR.

I share your liking for 3 Card Poker, but I wish I did not. A friend taught me to play it as a break from blackjack or dice-oh no, here we go. 3 Card Poker is just so much fun-I love the pace, the volatility and the lack of need for deep thought playing it. But, it's another gadget game with crummy odds that will eat you alive over any significant run, especially if you're not one of the lucky ones hitting the big hands every now and then. Truth be told, none of us should probably be playing anything but dice, 3:2 blackjack, baccarat or 100% video poker-at least a game with the lowest house advantages possible. But, the reason they invent the gadget games like 3 CP is that they are fun to play and a nice change of pace. I love the game and wander over to play it when other games are not going well despite the fact that I know I'm trading a better game for a 'worse' one. 3 CP is just goodness. Hit a flush or three of a kind or two and you're hooked. Must. Stop. 3 CP.
