NJ Online slot hold percentages

Hey folks,

I live on the east coast now so I am thinking about heading to AC and trying out some online gaming while playing at some actual properties as well. I've read some "welcome bonus" promotional terms that look good but I don't know what the slot hold percentages are for these properties. Could I assume it'll be roughly 10%?

Example: Caesars Online has a deposit $300, get $300 once you've made $1,800 in bets on slots. A 10% hold should mean I'm losing $180 and thus making $120 (or somewhere around there based on exact holds and actual slot performance).

Sounds like it's worth a solid try since they give you RCs at the same rate. A quick google search didn't turn up much info on what their holds are like. Anyone have any knowledge? Or at least extensive personal experience with NJ online casinos? Thanks!

 

I don't have specifics on online slots holds, but I have a lot of experience playing online slots in NJ. In my experience, they must have a higher hold on online slots than casino slots in AC, because the money lasts nowhere near as long online. I don't play online as much anymore, because I felt like I wasn't getting enough play for my money.

 

I am always amazed when folks attempt to calculate a hold percentage and equate it to their win/loss. That hold is over a LONG LONG LONG play time. And, the bigger the jackpot potential is, the longer that hold has to go to fund the jackpot.

For example, pretend a machine costs $10 a pull. And, that machine has ONLY a $10,000 jackpot. That means it has to take in approx $11,000 for each jackpot it pays out. So, for everyone except ONE person, the hold is 100%. That does not mean anyone playing even for a day or two will be anywhere near a 10% hold/loss.

Okay, so next step. Say the machine has lots of smaller payouts along the way. That means it has to go even longer before it pays out that big jackpot and finally gets back to the 10% hold number. It has to fund all those small payouts from somewhere as well.

It is sort of like folks that say a VP machine has a 99% payback. Sure it does - if you hit a Royal. If you never hit that damned Royal, you take is less. Along the way, you can easily see it take 100% of your money.

Bottom line. Any machine you play can easily take 100% of your money. It can also pay you a million dollars on one pull. Which one is more likely?

 

I can't condone the strategy but your guess on 10% hold is correct. Per ACG, here's the payout %.

Okay, my attempt to guess outcomes on slots is probably stupid but let's be clear about one thing: Anyone who plays a solid amount of slots would be a complete fool to pass up a promo in where $1,800 in coin-in produced $300 in cash back (not even just freeplay).

I made $200 on the promo.

 

I absolutely agree, but I can't find any internet gaming return numbers to back that up. The minimum payback for slots in AC land casinos is 83%. I would be shocked if NJ let their online casinos go lower than that!

 

83% is probably worse than LAS machines.
