    My Trip Report

I’ve received a lot of good ideas/advice from this and another board, so I wanted to write out a trip report, but since I type really slowly, a full trip report would take too long. Here are just some bullet points from my last trip:

Flight – United since it was about $140 less than Southwest, my usual carrier, and I’ll never fly them again. 6 hour delay on the way out through O’Hare. Landed at the new Terminal D in Vegas, which I hated compared to the Southwest C gates at terminal 1. Next time I’ll spend the extra and stay with Southwest. Flight home was only an hour late which I can deal with, but I was glad I got to McCarren 2 hours early because it was over an hour to get through TSA.

Lodging – Orleans updated room for the first two nights, which was excellent. Still had the new carpet smell. Pool area was great also. MSS for the next 2 nights which were good as usual. Last 2 were at Ballys in the redone Jubilee Tower. Excellent room, very nicely done, highly recommend.

Gambling – mostly VP, with some slots and Let it Ride mixed in. I hit at MSS for $1600 and that allowed me to come home $50 less than I started with. The rest of the trip was mostly losses except for like 2 or 3 sessions.

Meals – My girlfriend was with me, so just eating burgers and donuts wouldn’t do. Here are some highlights:

Table 10 – we did the taste of table 10 menu and this is an awesome deal for $48. Here are the details: http://emerilsrestaurants.com/article/summer-taste-table-10 I’ve eaten there 2 times before so I’ve had most of the menu and it was all great.

BLT steak – went during happy hour and had a few drinks that were 50% off. We also split a burger, a crab cake and another app I can’t remember all were excellent. They also gave us 2 of their excellent popovers.

Carson Kitchen – my new favorite downtown restaurant. We got the last 2 seats facing the open kitchen, which was a great show. Food was great but we ordered too many rich items and paid for it later. We split the butter burger, mac and cheese and glazed doughnut bread pudding. I will go back and try different things.

Gordon Ramsay Steak – One of those once in a lifetime experiences. They have a beef cart for crying out loud. Took some online advice and picked the American Wagyu Rib Cap, holy crap that was beautiful. I have a new cut of steak to try to find now. My girlfriend got the beef wellington which she really liked (my steak was way better) and we split the creamed spinach and of course the sticky toffee pudding.

Other places that were good was Bellagio breakfast buffet, Black Bear Diner that is down the street from Orleans, In n Out, and Marilyn’s inside the Tuscany. The only disappointing meal was the breakfast buffet at Paris where nothing was hot at all.

The only show we saw was Lionel Richie, which I liked and my girlfriend loved.

    Thanks for reading. -Russ

    Good report, thanks for sharing!
6 hour delay would drive me nuts, did you get anything for that?

Sounds like a fun trip - minus the 6 hour delay
from United. I've been meaning to try Table 10 - thanks
for the good info. Enjoyed your report.

6 hr delay? No way. You've got some great dining recommendations listed. I'm making note of a few of them.

Thanks for the responses. We received a $10 food voucher at the airport and $50 Electronic Travel Certificate which I hope I can use on a rental car through their website because I'm not flying with them if I can help it.

The tasting at Table 10 sounds very good! I've heard only good things about Black Bear Diner; definitely want to give that a try sometime.

Black Bear was quite good and very reasonable. I had a bacon omelet and my girlfriend had the Southern Scramble which was "split biscuit covered with 2 sausage patties, 2 scrambled eggs & country gravy" - taken from the menu.

Sorry to hear about the United delay. I'm 0 for 1 with united for on time flights. About 2 hr delay trying to leave Disney World this March.

8X on a premium quad? Nice!

6 hour delay is brutal on the way out. We have always had great luck flying SW direct out of Buffalo, never any real delays even with all the snow in the winter. The last time we flew Delta we had a 4 hour delay and swore we would never leave SW to save a few bucks. Thanks for posting your TR !!

Thanks for the responses. I fly out of PVD and miss the non-stops to Vegas Southwest used to do. SW lately the stop would be at Midway Airport, which was always fine.
