I can't recommend a specific company, I haven't take a shuttle in many years. Keep in mind that shuttles take people from lots of hotels and will drop off on the strip before heading downtown. You could be on there a long, long time. Some shuttles may have a separate downtown shuttle during peak times. Maybe. Best to take the WAX or Uber/Lyft IMHO.

Check with the shuttles before getting on. There are some shuttle companies that have shuttles to downtown. Other companies will put you into a shuttle and they will stop off all over the strip before they go downtown. It also depends on the time of day that you arrive, later at night there may not be dedicated shuttles to downtown.

Also, buy only a 1 way pass from the airport to downtown. It is a little cheaper buying a round trip pass but the problem is that they are unreliable picking you up from your hotel. In fact I would consider taking the shuttle to downtown and using uber to go back to the airport. Once I waited 2 hours for my shuttle to pick me up. Called the company and found they were running late, luckily I gave ample time for delays but I didn't like unreliability of the shuttles.

How many people are in your group? If 2 or more then maybe uber might be better to take.

I hate riding a shuttle with multiple stops. I would prefer taxi or uber.

I will second the WAX bus. On our first trip we purchased round trip shuttle tickets with our flight/hotel package. After stopping at all the hotels on the north end of the strip we finally made it to the Golden Nugget. It was such a bummer way to start the trip I ended up tossing the return tickets and taking a cab.

Only makes 1 stop from the airport at NYNY, then gets on I95. Makes two more stops downtown and boom, you are on Fremont St. That's how. And $2!!
33 minutes from McCaarran to downtown.

We just stayed downtown two weeks ago and just outside of terminal 1, was Showtime shuttle. They promised they would only put us on one that went downtown. It was like 10 bucks per person and it was full, but only stopped downtown places and was very quick.

I would either use them or lyft, I was just so tired after flights that I didn't want to walk to parking garage.
On the way home we called lyft and with the 5 credit, it was 21 dollars and I tipped 5. Hope this helps! I didn't trust shuttles to pick
us up on time for the trip back to airport.

I have used Showtime Shuttles many times when going from McCarran to downtown. I love them because they are so cheap...and because they use small buses, which are much easier to get in and out out than those long minivans. I don't mind a few stops along the way. I just sit back, relax, and take in the views of my favorite city.

Last trip I even booked it round trip (GASP!) and it went perfectly. I was at the D on my departure day and it was a rainy morning so I didn't want to stand on the street until the last minute...and the driver came inside looking for me! Talk about great service!
(I believe my round trip price was around $17.00)

Never take the shuttle, I did it once 12 years ago and it sucked. We were going to Luxor and that damn bus stopped at MGM then almost every other casino on that side of the strip. We crossed Las Vegas Blvd near Mirage then hit also most every hotel back down the other side of the strip till we got to Luxor. The trip from the airport to Luxor took well over an hour! In my 20+ trips since I have never taken the shuttle again and just give the finger to the punks pimp'in shuttle rides on my way out of the airport.

Only over an hour? You were pretty lucky!
Nowadays it could easily be 3-4 hours. They wait for all seats be filled.
Once the driver waited 30+ minutes just because there was still one empty seat.
The other 20+ passengers were all mad but the driver didn't care at all.
The first passenger got on the shuttle said after one and an half hour she still at the terminal!

Two stories about Showtime. Departing Cal and waiting outside for our limo (we were early) An elderly gentleman waiting also for his Showtime shuttle that was already 15 minutes late. Our limo shows up and I offer him a ride to the airport. He declines, saying he prepaid for round trip. I hope he got there.

Story #2. Waiting outside Plaza for their Escalade to the airport. Woman out there waiting for Showtime and it's 10 minutes late. I comment that they are notorious for being late. She gets on her cell and calls them. 5 minutes later the shuttle pulls into the Plaza circle drive, stops for 30 seconds at the far end, not near the front doors and leaves as she is rushing with her luggage to get it. She shared our comped Plaza ride to the airport.

Blonde, I guess you have been lucky!

I've considered shuttle service but have yet to use one. But I would say try it when you arrive, but catch a taxi/Uber/Lyft for the return back to the airport.

It's not worth the stress of waiting, not knowing when or if they will come or not.

But the taxi would not stop. It would go strait to your hotel. That has to be faster. Plus what if you just miss a bus?

On average a shuttle takes me less than a half-hour from the time I get my ticket to the time I arrive at my hotel. The longest it has taken me is about an hour. But I typically go to PH.
