like I said a phone call and we got the room we wanted

new orleans does this all the time, you ask your host and they say, no its sold out, you ask another host and they say they can do it...

I know some diamond, hell platinum and gold players can have better adt than some 7^s

they say 7* gets best room avail at check in and the junior suites are first come first serve, you check in and ask for the junior suite and they say that they are all sold out, ask another person at the counter and they have to call your host and see if they will give it to you, so you ask well how are they sold out and available at the same time. they say well its by "availability and criteria"...they are trying to hold them in case a player with a higer adt comes along and needs a room...seems a phone call always gets it done if it is not truely sold out

heres one for ya, see if you can figure this one out.... booked a room at harrahs new orleans hotel during mardi gras, think it was a thursday or friday, I looked online and all rooms are comped at harrahs and the partner hotels, decide to put my girls diamond card on as companion see if we can get a better room, nope came up with the same results, so i book the room. well shes stuck in traffic and im at the hotel, I forgot she was on the booking so she has to be there at check in with me..i tell the guy, it will be the same room comped with her or without, just rebook it under my card only. he argued that the hotel was fully sold out and if i rebooked I would lose the room and wouldnt be able to stay there. I told him I have the room, how can I lose it...he just kept on and on...told him dont worry about it, ill wait then, 10 minutes later she gets there, we get a different desk person and my girl says we may have a 3rd person staying, can we get a room with 2 beds, she said sure no problem...

I loved my room in Octavius tower :) The huge deep jetted bathtub was so relaxing. I admit I loafed in the tub with suds up to my chin, I loved it. I really wasn't bothered by the walk to the casino, truly didn't think it was anything out of the ordinary, but maybe my room wasn't as far off as others?

i have no issues with octavious other than the walk, if you leave and dont go back till time to go to bed its not that bad, but there are times ill be up and down to change or if i forget something ect and thats where the extra walking combined with walking all over the strip takes a toll...i think the octavious bathrooms are slightly larger than augustus but they both have the jacuzzi tubs, when we went in march I fell asleep on the jets, I had a line of perfect circle red marks as I slid down one jet, it was on me for about 5 days...so comfortable though

lol, they will politely say that there are no upgrades available and give you your $20 back or they will say we can move you from here to here, and if you take the upgrade she takes your $20...they are friendly everywhere out there

That second person on the reservation thing has gotten more serious over the past few years. We have run into that a few times as well. I make sure I do not put both numbers in when I do the online. But, sometimes if the host books it, she puts both numbers in. Once at Cherokee, my wife was not at checkin with me, so I had to find her and get her there. I sort of get it, but it is a pain. The person at the desk has no idea if I would have qualified for the room on just my number of not.

As to "rebooking" into a sold out hotel... that is normal. They would have to cancel your first reservation, and then then try to make a new one. At that point, all the free/comp rooms are no longer available for a NEW reservation. And, if they have oversold, they are not even able to book a paid room, which of course at that point would be $1000 a night. Your previous room is gone. Just how it works.

So should I be asking for Augustus tower so I have less of a walk to the strip?

Just got back from my stay at Caesars. I Had room 3772 and 4354 which were great rooms in the Augustus Tower. Both had spectacular views of the Bellagio fountains and were set up like the 2nd picture of the renovated rooms from a few posts back. The 43rd floor is smoking. Renovations started at the top and at the Diamond lounge they told me they are just about done working their way towards the bottom. He thought they were somewhere on the 20th floor or so this weekend. No major construction, just a refreshing of the rooms.

I got in 50.5 hrs of gambling Thurs-Sat (about $5000 in total theo for the weekend) including 7am to 3am Friday :) I intended to spend Friday at the pool all day, but most of the pool area was closed all day for the Vegas Uncorked Event. That sucked! Elton John was awesome again. And, my awesome host took care of all my food expenses again even though I didn't even ask this time.

justdeb your trip is right around the corner--you got a wonderful comped upgrade. Caesars room are all good to great, but why not stay in great for the same price!
As far as the walk, it is a trek no matter which tower you stay in. I am kind of over it (ALWAYS snagged Caesars comps if they showed up...) but will be there again in 3 weeks--my gambling budget may be more limited than usual so decided Caesars for great pool with more walking (really, not a bad thing...) is better than Ballys with less walking & a "meh" pool.

just wanted to post my thoughts on the Laurel Collection room.

we were in the Augustus tower room 4463. it wasn't facing the fountains. The guy said they didn't have any with that view. No biggie though.
The room was nice. The bathroom was the highlight with the jetted tub and big shower. The rest of the room was just average. we had a view of the strip facing the Venetian i believe.
i did a price check about a week before we left and the same room was 232.00 a night. Glad we didn't pay that. I guess I expected more.

    The bed was super comfortable!

Can you cross the street walking to get to Harrahs at the entrance to the omnia?

That is one nice room. ALMOST worth the 10 mile trek needed to reach the Strip.
