Has anyone been in the Plaza this week? The last I heard areas of the casino were wet and had a number of tarps hanging from the ceiling? Hear it was due to a Saturday rainstorm. I was planning on bringing someone new to the Downtown area in next week, but now have second thoughts unless they have cleaned it up. Were the bars or sports book areas damaged? How about the table games?

I would wait until this Saturday to go if I were you so that it will be a full week after the big rainstorm. The Plaza is worth millions if not billions, so within a week should be sufficient for them to fix the water damage.

That works for me. Arriving at Nugget Monday evening so won't get over to Plaza until Tuesday. Weather looking very good for the week.

I'll be at the Plaza tomorrow evening.
    I'll try posting something.
If I don't post anything assume things are fine.

It does rain in vegas, no chance that the roof suddenly leaked all over the casino, I thought I heard it had something to do with the pool?

i think it was a combination of pool construction and the rain.

Not sure if the construction had anything to do with the roof, it was all over the news for a day or so. Yes it rains here but records were set that day for rainfall. A tenth of an inch gets the weathermen excited, some places had close to two inches that day. I was in a wal mart in Henderson and it started to hail with thunder and lightning. Which is also rare. The Walmart had buckets and caution tape all over as their roof was leaking heavily. The blazing summer sun is hard on roofs, especially flat ones. Even with pitch, downpours like we had will find the bad spots. Lighter rain doesn't usually cause leaking as bad. If you even notice it.

Billions? City Center cost billions. The Plaza's value is about the same as 10-15 floors of just one of those hotels.

Las Vegas Club sold for $40 million. I doubt that The Plaza is worth much more than that.

I was there this afternoon. There are black tarps over areas of the casino, from floor to ceiling. There has been quite a bit of rain here this week.

The only area closed off is the old Poker Room area. Everything else is fully operational.

I would think it would be substantially higher than that. LVC sold at 40 million with a non functioning hotel, no restaurants, and a barely running casino. They had even sectioned off part of the casino to put in a giftshop with the thinking it would bring more revenue. The Plaza has renovated rooms, a casino at least twice the size, and retail and restaurant space. The Plaza at $40 million would be a steal.

Yes it would, save for the fact that the 40 million figure is being tossed around in the same conversation as "billions" and by folks that will be negotiating for nada. Hell 1.5 billion is a steal for Cosmo. Why stop there.....

Not to mention mostly the entire 3rd floor. Warning if you are coming from the parking garage, DO NOT try to go through the 3rd floor. It is doable, but you will be covered with dust before you make it to the front desk.

And the black tarps, from floor to ceiling, are only about 4 feet away from the table games.....

I just returned from 5 night stay at Plaza. Very pleased with my stay. Walked 3rd floor from Parking Garage to South Tower elevators, noted nothing amiss, but short walk. Casino did not bother me, live music every night I was there was great, great odds on VP and 21 tables. Pop Up Pizza and Hash House is great eating.
