Any recommendations, for places that specialize in Whiskey cocktails? One that makes a good manhattan or old fashioned?

The more laid back, and especially, the more old school the better

Oak and Ivy at the downtown Container Park. Excellent whiskey selection of 100+ American whiskeys and super knowledgeable bar keeps.

"The Bar" at the Mandarin Oriental made a perfect Old Fashioned for me....well, actually a few, last time I visited. No smoking though.

I'm not much for mixed drinks, but I think Whiskey Down in MGM would be a good choice

Delmonico at V/P has an impressive selection, but modern

Ria Ra in the bridge between Mandalay Bay and Luxor also has a very nice whisky list. It's a pub

Clique Bar in Cosmo would be worth a look too. Cosmo's cocktails are top notch

I second the recommendation. I don't remember the exact costs (of course, depends on your whiskey), but it is much more reasonable than Strip bars. On your way to or from the Container Park, you might want pop into the Parlour Bar in the El Cortez. Very reasonable cocktails, especially during happy hour 3-6 pm. Another place for a good cocktail at the other end of Fremont is the bar at Oscar Goodman's in the Plaza. Good selection of top shelf whiskey, bourbons and scotches. They also have a happy hour, but I don't remember the hours.

I would consider the prices very reasonable vs those on the strip. If I remember correctly, my Kentucky Mule made with fresh ginger beer and Woodford Reserve was $12.

My goodness, those are steals compared with the strip! and the have Breaking and Entering, which I can't seem to get out east right now and have been wanting to try! High West for $12/shot, not horrible price-wise

I visited the one in the container park on my last trip. Everytime I go there, it seems slow, but it works out so I can get a seat. I ordered a makers on the rocks ( wanted a sweet whiskey ) and I think it was 8 bucks. Kind of pricey for downtown, but nothing that bothered me. The bartender seemed fairly knowledgeable and was friendly. The selection was decent considering how small those places are also. I would recommend stopping in for a drink while checking out the rest of the facility, but I don't think you could make it its own destination for an extended period of time.
