    My Trip Report

Here is the background – I have 10 comped nights (3 nights at MSS, 2 nights at Cosmo, and 5 nights at Linq) booked in Vegas, my plan was to start with the PAC 12 tournament and stay through March Madness weekend. Starting my trip report on my first day of vacation since it was also in a Casino.
Thursday 3/10 – first day of vacation so headed to Ak-Chin, in Phoenix, for the night. Didn’t have any good wins. Had to watch the Arizona basketball game on our phones because the casino had direcTV which doesn’t carry the PAC 12 network. Boo, but at least the Cats won. After the game we headed to downtown Phoenix to see Bruce Springsteen. It was a great show and he performed for 3.5 hours. Got back to the casino pretty late and called in a night.

Friday 3/11 – Slept in a bit and then played a bit VP. Had brunch in the restaurant and just played most of the day to earn 1000 points. Had BF take me to the airport so I could get settled in before the Arizona/Oregon game. I can’t believe my timing of booking a flight at the same time AZ was playing. Tried to find a sport bar after security and of course all DirecTV with no PAC 12 network. I ended up watching the game on my phone while waiting to get on the plan and then as long as I could before we left the gate. Once we got in the air I switched to my laptop and watched Fox sports to see the score scroll by and it was depressing. As soon as I landed I went back to my phone and then got off the plane and sat at the gate watching. Well while I was watching this young guy asks if I was watching the Arizona game and then asked if he could watch with me and 2 of his friends joined. Our cats made a great comeback and we went to overtime so the 4 of us ended up watching the game in the airport right at the entrance to the shuttle. Unfortunately Arizona lost, but I’m ready for the next game!
I had managed to get a rental car from Hertz for $94 from Fri – Weds because I had points from work so I gave my new friends a ride to the Caesar’s Palace for their weekend of fun and then I headed to Main Street Station. I checked in, unpacked and called it a night since I have a long Vegas road ahead of me.

Saturday 3/12 – So this was my fist stay at MSS and it was okay. Nothing fancy, but did the trick and I did like that the water pressure was great in the shower. For a long time I played 9/6 JoB at the Boars Head Bar where I had several 4 OAKs and always got $2 tickets. I didn’t have any awesome wins, but 2 royals were near me. I was waiting for my friend to arrive from Palm Springs so I just spent the day playing at MSS once again with no major wins. My friend (B) shows up about 7pm after getting settled at some fancy RV park near the Silverton. We decide to go give Pizza Rock a try, they were packed so we left our names and they said they would text us when a table was ready. So we head across the street to the Downtown Grand and get cocktails at the Art Bar. I can’t remember what I got, but it was pretty cool looking with a ball of blue ice (cool as long as you don’t think about airplane blue ice). Tasted good though. Got the call from Pizza Rock so took our cocktails and headed back, but they wouldn’t let us take our cocktails to the table. Boo. Just chugged my drink and ordered something else at the table. We split a margherita pizza. It was delish!
We then headed back to Downtown Grand because I had some free play, ACG coupons, and LVA coupons. We played the free play through some slots and then headed to the blackjack tables. Found a $10 table with no one at it and started to play. Well I have never been to Vegas with B and I learned quickly he doesn’t really know how to play BJ, it was embarrassingly bad (hitting hard 17) and he didn’t want to hear what I had to say. The kicker of it all was that he won and I lost. WTF. At that moment I decided I needed to figure out how we don’t play blackjack together again. We cashed in his winnings and then headed over to the D to use the coupons for their too, but we just played a few machines and then decided to go to the Cal and get some ice cream at Lapperts. Wow was that some good stuff, but I wasn’t really expecting one scoop to be so large! I used my points from MSS to pay for the ice cream. We headed back to MSS where I called it a night and B headed back to his RV.

    Sunday 3/13
I decided to do some laundry so I walked across the street to the RV park at MSS and started a load of laundry and then played VP at the Boar’s Head Bar for about an hour. Made about $100 and then walked back and moved laundry to the dryer. Played VP for another hour and broke about even. I then went to the 777 brew pub and ordered an oriental chicken salad and iced tea to go. Went across the street and got my laundry, picked up lunch and schlepped it all back to my room where I had lunch and folded my laundry.
B showed up at MSS about 2pm. I then took him to the pinball museum where we had some fun playing the games for about an hour. I hadn’t been there since their early days and I was surprised at how it has grown and how busy it was. We then headed to Caesar’s Palace since had reservations at Mr. Chow’s and B has really been wanting to go there. Our reservations were fairly early (5:30pm) because we had a reservation at 8:30pm for the Neon Museum and wanted to make sure we had enough time to do it all and travel. We were a bit early to CP so we went the Total Reward Desk where they told me I could use my $100 diamond voucher at Mr. Chows. We played slots for a few minutes and then hung out in the diamond lounge waiting for our dinner reservation.
Get to Mr. Chow’s for our reservation and it is quite dramatic to get in: check in at a desk, take an elevator, check in at another desk, wait for the Maitre D to take you the table (which was more drama than needed since it was early and the place was empty). Started off with a cool champagne cart and I let B pick, he ordered us both a nice rose and this was the best part of the meal. We had to starters of lobster shumai and I can’t even remember the other one, then filet mignon and a shrimp dish with a side of rice and mushrooms. Well the food was fine, but it wasn’t anything special. Didn’t really have much flavor and the service was so rushed it wasn’t really what you normally get or expect for fine dining. They brought the dessert cart around and B was sort of dismayed that they had canned lychee on there instead of fresh. Nothing looking really special on the dessert cart so we skipped it. I used my $100 credit and reward credits to pay for the meal and B picked up the tip. He was really peeved about the restaurant and I expect he will put a negative review on trip advisor. The kicker of it all is that Open Table sent me a note about my not honoring my reservation at Mr. Chows. Geez.

We then went to the Neon Museum for their tour. We really had a great time here. Our guide really knew his stuff and seemed to really enjoy his job. After the tour I went back to MSS and called it a night.

    Monday 3/14
I slept in a bit and then packed everything up. Had about an hour to gamble before checkout so played a bit of VP where I did not do well. Chatted with a host who picked up my whopping $14 room charge for my salad. Checked out and then met B at Lotus of Siam (figure I would show B a better option that Mr Chows) which was sooooo great. We shared coconut soup, grilled shrimp, drunken noodles and coconut ice cream. The meal was a hit.

I then went to the Mirage to pick up the MyVegas tickets I have to Love and to see if I can purchase one for B (I had booked it before I knew he would meet me) so managed to get us 2 seats together, but had to move up a bit higher. I also got an entry to Siegfried and Roy’s secret garden and when I got it online I had to pick a day and time I would use it, but doesn’t matter. So picked up that ticket too and will use another day.

Then I checked in to Cosmo and wow did I get lucky. Got upgraded to a wraparound suite. Glad I did MSS first! Played a little VP where it wasn’t great and I need to find out what happened to the 100 play that had been in the high limit room. It is all table games in there now. I’m hopeful the machines I like to play around now in the new high limit rooms on the second floor, but I haven’t looked yet. B was supposed to meet me at the Chandelier bar, but when I got there I got a text from him telling me he was running a bit late. I saw a Buffalo Gold Machine so thought I would give it a shot. Put $100 in and played $300/spin. Hit the bonus after about $25 and spin got me the minor for about $11 and another spin and then got the 3x pay on the minor. My second spin got me 15 free games. In the middle of the games B texted me and told me he was at Cosmo so while my free spins were happening I was trying to tell him where I was at and watch for him so I don’t really know what happened on the machine. Once it ended though I had $250 so that was a pretty good few minutes. Cashed out and we grabbed a cab to Mirage.

Got long hauled and it really pissed me off. I hate taking cabs in Vegas. Saw Love and really enjoyed the show. We then walked back to Cosmo where we had 9pm dinner reservations at Jaleo. This was another amazing meal. We had a bunch of different hams, cheese, shrimp, bacon wrapped dates, and mushrooms. Too full for dessert. Today was a good food day. Walked B to valet and said goodbye and wished him safe travels back to Palm Springs. I then played a Sons of Anarchy slot while waiting to get a Cosmo. Hit a bonus where I won $150 so I cashed it out and took my drink to my room to enjoy it on the balcony. Really want to enjoy this Cosmo room. I don’t have big plans for Tuesday and not meeting anyone so probably just have a big gambling day at Cosmo and just enjoy some downtime before other start arriving for MM.

Title edited. Congrats on the wraparound upgrade at Cosmo. Had you only known, you could have waited and done your laundry there. Whenever I split stays between hotels, I leave Cosmo til last if possible or it is always a letdown moving. The terrace just puts Cosmo above even Wynncore for me.

Thank you! I don't see a washer and dryer in here and I am pretty sure I have looked everywhere. Maybe they don't have them in all the suites? I need to make myself leave the room so I can go gamble and get more offers to stay here.

Hmmmmmm..... I had a washer and dryer in my wraparound suite. I wonder if they've removed them. It was in a room right off the hall across from the second washroom in the suite I was in.

Interesting .... The front door opens in to a living area and there is a closet, then walk down the hall a bit and there is a bathroom on the left with a shower but across the way from that is just a wall. Keep going and there is a kitchen to the left, dining area, sitting space and office space to the right. Then the bedroom and large bathroom with a sunken tub and two sinks. I would try and take pictures, but my cell phone had an unfortunate fall in to water at MSS and while it is still working it is being really temperamental about charging

The last wraparound I had the washer/dryer door was locked. I had to ask them to come open it.

There is a locked door so maybe that is the key! I will ask at the front, would be great to do laundry again before I move to the Linq. Thank you!

The 100 plays are still there. High limit slots were moved into their own separate area from the high limit tables.

washer and dryer update - I called down and they said they no longer have washer and dryers in the rooms ( i suspect they are behind the locked door though), but they offer laundry service. Well ...duh.

I went downstairs and lost $200 on the 100 play VP machines and then won't it back on sons of anarchy and buffalo, but ended up losing on top dollar and big bang theory. Managed to move up to Sterling level though. I have two comp tickets to Hoops and Hops for Thursday so I tried to get those. What a fiasco -- they tell me I can't get them until Thursday morning and they don't know what time will call will open, probably 7:30am. So now I guess we need to get here early Thursday and hope they are open because we won't to miss the beginning of the first games (Champster is coming in tomorrow and he is going with me). I was told to check back again tomorrow afternoon and they might have a better idea of when Will Call will open. If I had bought tickets I could pick them up, but comps have to wait. Stupid. We have comp tickets for the Flamingo too for all 4 days we might have to start watching there and head over to Cosmo after things get rolling so we don't have to wait in line for our tickets. This is the first year i have had this kind of offer at Cosmo so i don't really know what to expect and I only have it for the one day.

Decided to buy a green juice -- $12 for juice! - which I charged to the room. Just updating this report while sitting on the balcony and enjoying my juice. Will replenish the bankroll and make one last run at it, but might just be a night of some Holsteins take out enjoyed in this fancy suite.

Had some good wins (won a $700 bonus on buffalo grand) and some big losses. In for the night enjoying this fancy suite and great burger from Holsteins. Talked to a host who said right now he can't pick up any charges from the room and to check again tomorrow. We'll see. I just wanted to get established here to get more offers and I think that has been accomplished. Host also checked for me and said Will Call will open at 7am on Thursday morning for MM. Guess Champ and i will get a real early start.

I think I am going to plan a coupon run for tomorrow since I have the car until 7pm. I have the ACG and LVA coupons, where should I go?

I have decided to head down to Fremont and play in the Poker Tourney at the Plaza (free coupon in ACG) and do a coupon run down there. Then I plan to hit Orleans, Palms, and Ellis Island. Maybe more if there is any time left after those. Might stop by Vons to get a few things and fill the car up with gas. I need to return the car around 7ish and will update how the day went while I am waiting for Champ at the rental car center. I will hitch a ride back to the Linq with him.

Great report, keep it coming. Have fun watching the ball games, one of the great times to be in Vegas. So much energy in the sportsbooks during the games, love it.

    Wednesday 3/16

Got up and rushed to get ready and packed so I wouldn't be late for the slot tourney at Plaza at 9:30 (free entry in ACG). Get there, self parked and realized the tournament started at 10:30. Get my $10 free play and played some stupid penny machine and while I was playing some young kid sits down next to me and asks me to buy him some food. I gave him two protein bars I had in my bag. Win $25 match play at Plaza. I then head over to Golden Gate to use coupons there where I lost $10 on a machine and won $25 match play, got the certificate for free pancake. Decided to try to eat breakfast before the poker tournament, but the line was too long. Went back to the Plaza and played in the tournament for hours. I had a nice hand of 4 sixes and got someone out, but I ended up in 5th place and didn't win any money.

Finally had some pancakes at DePars and they were as good as always, but I could only eat about half of them. Then I headed to The D where I didn't win my $25 matchplay and ended up quickly losing $100 at blackjack. Then went to Downtown Grand where I had $25 free play and played 8/8 bonus poker for a very long time on free play and then played for a very long time on $100. I earned 5 bottles of Irish Whiskey and had a good workout carrying them to the car. Once I lost that I walked back to the Plaza and got my car out of the garage. I had the parking ticket validated when playing poker, but didn't realize I needed to take it to the cashier. Luckily the attendant took care of it for me.

I headed to El Cortez and got $10 freeplay and also took $1k out of the ATM so I could get the $50 free play. Played some VP on that freeplay and cashed out $45. Returned rental car and am now in the rental car center waiting for Champster to arrive, he should be landing any minute. I had plans to go to so many places today, but ran out of time. Once i check in to the Linq I think I will just play there for a bit since we have an early day tomorrow for the beginning of March Madness.
