We are coming in next month and to change things up we decided to use my two night comp offer at Suncoast. We wanted to play a little golf across the street at Angel Park and dine at two of their restaurants.

So the original plan was to get the Suncoast shuttle from the airport, stay two nights and then take the WAX to downtown and MSS for two nights and use the MSS limo back to the airport.

I got to thinking maybe we should just skip MSS this trip and stay all four nights at SC, so I emailed a host asking about extending our stay.

    The reply:
We do have rooms available, but I would have to put you at casino rate at $104.00 for the 17th & $96.00 for the 18th (does not include taxes & resort fees). Unfortunately, I cannot provide a limo back to the airport ( that is a $100 comp) Your play just isn’t strong enough for that approval. I’m so sorry I can’t help you further, call me and let me know if you wish to extend those dates.

What puzzles me is how much play do they expect? Our last two night stay they got almost the exact same play we give to MSS, around $12-$15,000 coin in daily.

At MSS, that gets us a suite, limo and Gold card for all dining. Suncoast is nice and has free WiFi, but not that nice.

It still ticks me off a little that MSS won't comp WiFi and charges $10 per day, per device.

Anyway, sticking with the original plan of two and two.

VP or slots? VP it's maybe understandable. If it's slots, you should get whatever you want. Obviously there's a big difference in theo.

If your normal stay and play history is only two nights at a time, then it's conceivable they don't want to comp you 4 upfront but would cover it back end.

So if you parse her email very narrowly, and read between the lines a little, if a room comp is worth $100/night and they're only willing to give you two upfront, then adding a $100 limo on top raises the total upfront comp by 50%. They're willing to comp $200 and you're asking for $300.

Your expected loss for the games you play is probably less than $300/day. If they comp say 40% you can see the problem.

MSS values rooms much lower I expect.

Suncoast is a higher level property. You're a VP player and your loyalty to MSS along with a multi year host relationship has gained you maximum comps. You're not going to get that same return at other properties, especially a higher tiered property.

LOL, I'd be happy if I only lost $300 a day!

Joe, were are doing close to $15k coin in daily at MSS and we can't even get all of our food comped. We have flights booked for a pre-Memorial Day trip but haven't booked a room yet. I'm frustrated with asking for back-end comps. This trip might be a non-Boyd visit.

My brother -in-law plays only slots. I play craps. I tend to gamble more than him when we go on trips together with our wives.

He gets more comps than me. He loses more than me even though I bet higher and gamble more than him.

Last trip he was told if he only ups his play a little more he can get the GOLD CARD. Oooohhhh.... the coveted GOLD CARD.:evillaugh

Last night he told me how badly he wanted the....GOLD CARD. I looked at him and asked "You're willing to risk losing more money to get this....GOLD CARD?"

He looked at me blankly. I smiled.

I believe Cox Cable gets the fees for wifi, or most of it. maybe why they don't comp it

    Interesting.
I once put in like 20K coin-in at MSS in one day(and lost $2000) , never ever get any offer from them.
I only visited SunCoast once, put in 10K coin-in (and lost $1000), now I get free room, food, free play from them every month.
Well, I never take their offers or even visit SunCoast again, but the offers keep coming.

I'm happy for you that Main Street Station treats you so well, but if you're doing 15k a day and your real theo is 1% or so your comps are exceeding your loses. As I'm sure you know 1% theo on 15k is a $150 a day. The bartop at MSS doesn't get much worse than that 1%. Stay at MSS where they treat you like a VIP. No casino in their right mind is going to beat that.

I agree 100% with aaisack...the deal you're getting at MSS is absolutely unbeatable.
Joe, it's mostly the loyalty factor with MSS...they KNOW what to expect from you. Also, with Suncoast, I *THINK* it's Boyd's highest tier property in Vegas, hence why so small comps.
Another thing though...you may have played machines with such a low theo setting, that the casino figured it can't make any money off of you.

THAT is another reason I love MSS. I cant figure them out either although we are like-minded.
Boyd properties just seem unique in their level of comp vs. play level from each other.

I hate Suncoast, except for their mix poker game. So far away. I guess Boyd thinks it's their top property because it's the newest? I would think their DT properties would have higher demand/room rates, but apparently not.

Start hitting royals at the rate your wife does? :poke:

Well your posts convinced me. Why screw with a good thing. I cancelled Suncoast and we'll just be at MSS. I don't want to screw up my comps there.

Why didn't I think of that!

We got back from this trip and I asked her where her $33,000 was from her 33 Royals over the years. :evillaugh

I feel the same way. I was fully comped with silver card and $75 free play for years. My comps have been scaled back to 3 free nights and 2 $20 food vouchers. I might try booking and calling for a silver card. If they decline, I might be done with MSS for now. I have always targeted about $12k coin in each day. Suncoast has been offering 1 free night on that same level of action.

On the other hand, we stayed at Sam's town on a sapphire renewal offer. I played there one day of the stay and did $10k coin in. Since that stay, I have been getting monthly offers of 5 nights, gold card and $125 slot play. They are also mixing in tickets to Ka and Celine, etc. We are definitely spending some nights there this next trip.

In the fall I went and saw Brett Michaels at Orleans. i was playing craps for a little before the show, the pit boss signed me up for a players card. I just got an offer for the Garth Brooks concert at Tmobile.

Joe, I enjoy your MSS posts and I stay there too (less than I use to). I'm curious what kind of FP you get for that action? Not too many years ago I would get the coupon book or card and $100 FP. Then, the FP got less and less and subsequently so did my play. Hal Welch has told me that he'll be my host and give me a suite and a gold card, I pressed him slightly on what kind of FP I could expect and he was vague. In my opinon 4Q blows MSS out of the water in this category. My offers at Gold Coast are much better than what I get at downtown Boyd properties.

    I have the same question.
I would be very upset if I was offer these tickets because I already got them many times from Mlife properties.
