"Massage at the tables" - any good?

On my last trip to Vegas I was approached a number of times by masseuses who were offering a massage while I played. While I tend to be a focused gambler, I was tempted by the prospect of this and thought this might be the right place to ask about them.

Silly question off the top - is it "complimentary" like the drinks? Or do I have to pay a certain rate for them? If I have to pay, what do they typically go for?

Aside from that, are they any good by your experience? Any commentary that might persuade/dissuade me from taking one of them up on their offer?

 

yes, you have to pay... usually about 10-15 dollars..

i've had them a couple of times,especially during marathon blackjack sessions.... the pit critter didn't like it when i took off my shirt one time....oh well

 

I have never gotten one altho I have been tempted many times.

I believe the normal rate is $2/minute (paid in cash or chips and can not be charged to the room)

 

I haven't personally done it, but I've been at tables with people who have, and they enjoyed it. It's not exactly the sort of top-not experience you're going to get at the spa, but it's a dollar or two a minute and is decent enough. As mentioned, you have to pay cash and can't do a room charge; at most casinos, they're part of a third-party service as opposed to being employed by the property itself.

 

I do this a lot. It's 2$ min.
How good they are vary by person. Some are better than others.
I usually do 20-30 mins at a time, if the person is real good I'll go longer. I only do this on games that need no concentration like Pai Gow or Pai Gow poker. Rarely on black jack because the hands are fast and take interaction.
Occasionally if its a girl I like I'll go over to a slot machine and have her do it so I'm not purring at the table.

 

I did this once while playing blackjack. I had been at the table for hours. 20 bucks for ten minutes. It was great.

How much does a traditional massage cost?
How much better are they and how long do they last?

I have never been to the spa (I assume that is where you go for them?)

Maybe on my next vegas trip I will finally get a real massage

 

I had a friend who moonlit as a masseuse part time. She also worked at a legit massage parlor. They charged about $50 - $60 an hour and with my friend it was worth it. I usually fell asleep during the massage and I was in a mellow great mood the rest of the day. They also had 45 minute massages for $35 or $40.

The good thing with these massages is that they massage you on a table (complete with the donut to put your face in so you can lie flat) and they give you a full body massage.

At the shopping malls and some other places they offer massages but you basically sit on a chair that leans forward. It is great if you just want a quickie massage or a shoulder, neck or back massage. They usually charge $1 a minute (tips also welcome).

while I have seen the roving masseuses I never had a massage at the tables, I want to devote my full concentration on the game and I will probably get distracted by the massage.

 

Massage runs the gamut, from inexpensive strip-center "day" spas to spendy "destination" spas at the hotels. At the basic level you fork over several 20s, get on a table and get 50-60 minutes of standard massage. The fancy joints will have workout facilities, plunges, steam and sauna, nice treatment rooms and an array of services. That will cost a lot more. When it comes to massage there are many many variations. Massage therapists need to be licensed in Nevada (as elsewhere).

That is a popular one here. Seems to be particularly important to the dating-challenged.

And as for a postscript ... not sure how this works for Vegas, but when traveling we've frequently been able to get services at massage schools. Bit like going to the culinary academy and paying lesser bucks to let the kids experiment on you.

 

highly recommend the massage at the tables (you turn your chair around and they stand behind you). it's 2$ a minute as others have said, plus I usually tip around $5-$10. usually very active at PH from what i've seen. They do wonders for your neck/shoulders.

 

I wish I could have that done at the craps table, that's where I'd really need it and where I spend most of my time.

 

I second that, I did ask once, but alas I was told they won't do it if you are standing.
