So I reach out to a host at Mirage, since I don't have one there. Explained to him that I would like a pool or Strip view for my stay and to confirm it when booking the trip for me.

His reply was..." I have you for a promo at 3 nights comped and $500 F/B. I can not guarantee the views requested. Would you like me to book this for you?" I know what my comps are and didn't need it repeated. I was looking for the extra attention to assistance that host are suppose to provide. Really???

At the other casinos, when I request a specific view or room I get a confirmation of that. Isn't that what a host is for? Does anyone else have this issue in general or at Mirage? Just venting and possibly thinking I should reach out to another host since I don't have a relationship. Maybe I will just stay at Bellagio as usual. Just wanted to try another venue.

You said he is not your host. So he has no reason to give you anything more than you already have. Your offer doesn't guarantee a view, he won't either.
Same as you asking for a suite instead of the standard room in your offer, or asking $1000 F/B instead of $500, he won't do it for you.
    What is wrong with that?
"the extra attention" comes from your established play and good relationship with YOUR host, not from a stranger.

Room views are assigned at check in

Your host can request a room view for you if they book your stay. But JeJas is correct. If its not your host, they likely aren't going to do anything extra for you. They want to take care of their established players first

No experience with MLife properties, but I am Diamond w/CET and my host bookings don't even guarantee the room type I book. On my last trip in January at Paris, my host booked a Red Room & I ended up with older Classic "blue" room. This has happened to me a couple of times. So I never count on anything with my comp rooms with CET. I am not a High Roller, but always leave a nice donation each trip :(

Agree with this. For OP, best bet is to request a view at check-in; once you are an established player with a host, your host will add your preference on the reservation.

What if you wanted a specific room like 32010 or whatever? Would that be an easier route? Tell them it's special to you, you did whatever in it 20 years ago

Yeah, narrowing half of the hotel down to just one room will get the job done. Like said, this is something that can easily be sorted upon check in.

I used to work the desk at a (admittedly non Vegas) resort and specific room requests were not uncommon, I'm sure they get requests too

Yeah? But if you read the replies, the host wouldn't guarantee a room type that's literally half of the hotel. What makes you think he'd go the distance of reserving 1 specific room?

I agree that if it's not your host, they don't have as much incentive to help special requests. BUT I was less than impressed with HOW your potential host delivered the news. How hard would it have been to add, "but we'd love to give you the room with the view at check-in, if available" be? They're not promising anything, but it's a much softer approach.

I get them not wanting to promise the room with the view with no relationship, but in my book, the way the host replied doesn't bode well for a potential future relationship, and if you DO get tagged under him and he doesn't warm up, it's hard to switch. I've had hosts offer more, and less generous comps, but it's the way they deliver bad news that will sour me on a host, not the news itself.

FYI Mirage used to be my homebase, but I also got the "take it or leave it" approach a few years back on a promo question. I didn't fuss, as then I just feel high maintenance, but it put a bad taste in my mouth. I switched homebases due to it, now stay at Aria, get better comps, better WARM service, and am actually grateful for the Mirage disapointment, as I've fallen in love with Aria. Cosmo also is huge right now on attracting new players and giving warm service, and both Aria and Cosmo have bathrooms more on par with Bellagio, with a separate shower/tub.

I love the atrium at Mirage and the gorgeous fish behind the tank front desk, but the rooms, while quite nice, might be less than what you're used to at Bellagio. The Mirage renovated, and the bathrooms are pretty, but tiny, and you'll have a shower/tub combo with a shower curtain (deluxe room) versus the roomy, glass enclosed showers of Bellagio'Aria/Cosmo that are standard even in the basic rooms, so unless you're staying in a suite, keep this in mind. [And if you are staying in a suite, I am not sure if Mirage has the unique perks the other suites do....cosmo has a terrace, Aria a gorgeous full corner of windows (two WALLS of windows), and even Bellagio's junior suite is just that, sweet!]

P.S. Cosmo has been matching promos on VMB for new players, so you don't have to start from scratch. Check out some of the Cosmo posts in VMB. It's one of the FEW hotels I've seen aggressively going after new players...so you don't have to start from scratch on their comp system...Plus, if you're Mlife, it means you'll now have a non-mlife hotel to cover the mandatory 72 hours in between mlife promos...just a thought...

You don't need a suite for a separate shower/tub at Mirage. You just need a tower king room.

    Try another host, can't hurt.

Going against the grain here, that's poor customer service. I don't care if there's a 'reason' per se, reason being if he's not your host he shouldn't care about you - I still think it sucks. It's not like you asked for a chip-driven El Camino limo with a jacuzzi in the back.

Actually, you should phone that host back and demand a chip-driven El Camino limo with a jacuzzi in the back.

When a host promises a room type, he is looking for trouble. He has no idea how many people will already be in rooms. He has no idea how many big time players will book last minute.

    $hit happens.

All my hosts at both Aria, cosmo and wynn encore will pretty much do anything I ask for. I.e had a skysuite off which was only valid until 30th May I don't arrive till the end of June they changed it for me. Cosmo always give me a terrace suite with fountain view as requested. Speak to another host. Tanya is a good host at mirage. Hope this helps

Mirage is where hosts get put in Mlife to die.

nothing good comes out of Mirage.

eh. except hosts that know how to do it and can not only get you a room type, but can block a specific room number to you to make sure nobody else gets assigned there before you arrive.

Well that explains a lot :)

I was never impressed with my host there. I have never been one to want a host as I get very good marketing offers that I am more than happy with. But Mirage forces one on you if you are Platinum. And all my host would do was book my marketing offers. So, what's the point of having host then.

    Maybe try a different host.
