    My Trip Report

I left Austin on Friday, 2/19 at 7:30am. The flight was on time and I picked up my rental from Enterprise at about 9:30. The cost of intermediate rental through Tuesday was just under $200.00. I drove to Caesars self-park and headed to diamond check-in. I thought that it could be hours before the room was ready so I left my carry on and full size bag in the car. At diamond check-in I was asked if I prefer Augustus or Octavius and I chose Octavius. I was told the room was ready:thumbsup:. I head back to self-park to retrieve the luggage. After getting the luggage and exiting the elevator from the garage I see two SWAT looking guys with Secret Service written across the uniforms. Later I found out that HC was to be there Saturday. After unpacking I head for the Café Americano just off the Caesars lobby for lunch. It was 10:50am and they don’t begin serving lunch until 11:00 but I ordered the steak stir fry which was very good but pricey. I play blackjack and video poker. Even though I was going to rock concerts in the 60s I can still do a four night Vegas trip with less than 4 hours sleep/night I believe because I don’t drink (did I just lose some readers?). I only gambled a little Friday because I wasn’t feeling lucky, down about $400.00. Saturday’s gambling was much better. The average blackjack session was about an hour and there were maybe eight sessions between Caesars, Bally’s and Pho. My betting ranges from one hand at $50.00 to two hands at $125.00. At one point in the evening one of the other players at the table mentioned that the crowd at the adjacent craps table was because Will Ferrell was playing (+1 celebrity sighting:nworthy:). I closed out the day up $800 at about 4am. At 11am Sunday I drove to the Wynn and gave up $1000.00 on video poker and $1000.00 on blackjack in a HL area. I couldn’t get out of the parking garage fast enough after that beating:grrr:. After adjusting my psyche for the loss I went to the cage at Caesars and picked up the $400.00 free table play on my offer and then continued occasional blackjack and video poker sessions until 2am closing the day down $400.00. Monday morning at about 11am I drove to the Freemont area. I remembered that 3 years ago (last time I was at Freemont) the Golden Nugget had a fun party pit but I wasn’t able to find it on this visit. Possibly it was too early in the day. I walked through several of the casinos and then headed east. I saw the El Cortez for the first time and stopped in for a little video poker. I turned $40.00 into $200.00 and my business with the El Cortez is completed for now. I headed back to the strip and stopped in at the SLS for my first visit there. I wanted to play a quick video poker session but couldn’t find ANY JoB. I asked a slot attendant and she looked around and radioed in with the question. No, they don’t have JoB. I find that unusual but maybe it’s just me. So back to Caesars. I had my diamond celebration dinner at Old Homestead and ordered the Bone-In Filet Mignon 16 oz. which I really enjoyed:peace:. My blackjack and video poker sessions continued until about 1am when I decided to lock in a win of $1,500.00. The room was comped up front and about $300.00 in room charges (all but tips) were comped on the back end by my host. The flight on Southwest was paid with my diamond aspirations II airfare credit. This was my 22nd Vegas trip and my first trip report. If/when I have better trips in the future I hope I can write better trip reports. Thanks for reading.

Yeah, I had to think about that one longer than I should have.

    Nice win meliphilus!!!

And I agree that seems odd that SLS has no JoB at all. It's possible I guess. Generally speaking though, Bonus Poker is the better game on the strip vs. JoB 90%+ of the time in terms of payback. SLS definitely has 8/5 Bonus (99.17%) for dollars+. Strategy differences between the two games are minimal.

I've given up on JOB and switched to B, DB, or DDB. Those 4oaks are so much sweeter. I've also given up on Blackjack. It's just too frustrating a game. I'm sick and tired of it. It's a stupid, lousy, stinking game. And I play for peanuts. I'm dealt 20 and the dealer has 14 and sucks out A, A, 5 to beat me. I'm done with it. If I was playing for serious money I'd be even more upset.

I've never thought about doing Vegas sober. You're a strong man.

I gave up trying to figure out who HC was. I know why now.

Thanks for the trip report! I admire your ability to refrain from drinking!
