My local casino does not have real tables which sucks, but they do have an electronic Blackjack table where the dealer is on the screen. Blackjack pays 3:2 and the deck is shuffled every hand. I'm wondering how bad this game is to play vs a real table with real cards? I find that the dealer gets a lot of 20's and 21's when they have a hand that is not favorable. Example 10 5..9 6 etc. I've had some ok hit and run sessions but it's got the better of me more than a few times. Am I best to stay away from it?

Mathematically it should be the same as playing at a table with a continuous shuffling machine. Do you know the other rules on this machine? The one I played at Monte Carlo last year was really good. $1 minimum but S17, DAS. Much better odds than their lower limit tables.

It's not the best I guess, dealer hits on soft 17 but you can double after splitting. It is also $1 min. I don't think it's great to have a long session but the hit and run has worked out pretty well for me. I really wish we had real tables though.

I play video blackjack at our local Chances casino here in BC. I find the same thing with dealer getting a lot of face cards on deal or drawing a 21 from a break card. 6 decks with 1/3 penetration, dealers second cards after players are finished drawing.

I am just about convinced that the video blackjack machine is tied into the computer the controls the payout on slot machines.

On the webs site for lottery corp it says that they pay back 23% in prizes. Lots of fingers in the pie here.

It depends on the state. In Neveda any game that simulates cards has to have it represent a true deck and be random. In theory 10 million hands it will look similar in the machine as it would a deck.

I like sitting by myself and having a few drinks and playing video blackjack when at a casino. I can just play my own pace and relax a bit.

I find that every time the dealer turns up a 10 it turns up another. It's like it's a guaranteed 20 every time.

I went again today to kill some time and decided $20 was the most I would lose. I was betting $1 -$3 and it lasted about an hour. I don't like betting more than $5 per hand if I'm planning to stay awhile. If I stay long I usually don't win (shocking I know). The best I've done on it was the hit and run, played 5 hands between $50 -$200 per hand and left up $450.

If it's like Nevada, the electronic game has to mimic the odds of a real game. It would be the equivalent of playing a love game with a continuous shuffle machine.

I never trust those things. I played on them twice; once the dealer either had blackjack or 19-20 for 22 hands in a row and the other time I pressed the button to add a side bet (at Harrah's Chester) and it didn't accept the bet and it deals. I would have won the side bet ($200). Rigged!

What they said! If your local government doesn't have the same rule as Nevada, then yes the cards could be skewed. For instance, here in Washington all the Video Poker has to run on the same system as the slot machines, so basically it doesn't matter what cards you hold you will get the jackpot or whatever prize was determined when you hit the deal button. You could be dealt a flush, throw the flush away and you would get paid a bonus equaling the flush payout. There's no skill involved, it's just a slot machine.

Either way, you can't determine it just based on some random playing sessions. You could have just had a bad run, or you could have confirmation bias, only remembering when the dealer pulled out a crazy win, and not the times they busted.

I also don't trust the machines and see them hit 21 WAY too often. With that said, you're playing usually at a rapid speed and seeing more hands than you would in a live game, so the odds of the dealer hitting 21 more in an hour are way up. Regardless, I try to avoid these machines.

OP, is your local casino Woodbine Racetrack

London. I play the electronic Roulette and do much better on that than the Blackjack. I should stay away from the blackjack but it lures me in from time to time.

My Wife and I went last night and played the electronic blackjack for a few hours. We ended up about even combined. She had a stretch of some of the worst hands I've ever seen, my wins made up for her losses luckily. The dealer definitely turned way to many 14 15 16's into 20 and 21. I'll never expect to win on this machine but it's still good for entertainment if you can leave close to even. We then went and made a quick $70 by betting 7 straight odd bets on roulette..that was fun.

They put in another electronic table at my local. It's min $5 vs the other one at $1 min. I played it for the first time tonight and the dealer busted a lot. The other machine seems to bust a lot less. I turned $100 into $500 so until further notice I like the new table! The guy beside me was up 4k and started betting $500/hand....he lost $2000 on 4 straight bets. I left so not sure how that ended.

I have yet to have a losing session at the new table. I've played it 8 times and have left up $400 $45 $40 $100 $300 $80 $80 $60. Everytime I play it I'm expecting it to be my first losing session but it hasn't happened yet. The $1 min table is close by and I'm constantly hearing groaning about bad cards and the dealer getting 20 and 21 too much. Seems so strange that this new $5 min table seems a lot better......so far anyways.

So when you say the the electronic games in Nevada must replicate the odds of a real deck is this also to assume that it is a simulated shuffle after every hand? Is the shuffle on a single deck? I was curious about those multi game things that have the video poker, black jack keno etc. For the BJ, some you can play for as little as .25 a hand.

I read that they were approved to bring them in last July so I thought they would have them by now. London doesn't have enough room for real tables so I don't think we will ever get that. I'll be curious to hear what the rules are once Woodbine gets the tables going. I will probably go check it out once it happens.

It depends. Take a look at the game menus next time. It will tell you the number of decks, typically 6 or 8 decks. Haven't seen it say if it actually plays out the shoe so I have to assume it's a continuous shuffle.

As for the video poker machines that also have blackjack, are pretty terrible in terms of payback. They are either single or double deck, again check the rules screen to confirm. But blackjack pays only even money. And in general have other bad rules.

Every time I think one of those machines is cheating me I just move to a live table and I get an identical beating. I have played them often in Vegas because I prefer the hit and run to prolonged table play. And lower betting limits. Though last time on the Strip I saw people playing a 6/5 machine at TAG for ten dollar minimum.
