yes its a background check, pretty comprehensive, I would think its actually more comprehensive than a taxi driver. Also with uber your being tracked on GPS so if they try to take you someplace wrong you can be tracked whereas a taxi can just go wherever

Just downloaded lyft for our trip to Vegas tomorrow. They gave me a $50 credit but it is $5 off 10 rides.

I want to try uber also, but am not seeing any sign up codes or anything.

how does the "rating" system work? can you see what you get rated? who rates who first? seems like itd be easy to just hold out as long as you can and rate last so he might still rate you decent

We are going in March via Delta but we will have baggage to claim, where would we go after getting our bags to pick up Lyft or Uber? Does Uber pick up at the airport? Should we call before or after we claim our luggage?

At first this seemed crazy, but after reading about, it makes perfect sense. When you look at the map, you realize it should be much easier and you avoid that massive zoo at baggage claim.

ALWAYS after picking up baggage, drivers can't stop and wait for who knows how long it takes for bags.. Wait should be no more than 5 minutes or so for either. Uber has been allowed in airport since December.

Sometimes that is a half hour wait for luggage in Vegas. Sometimes way less. In any event, I would think it would take you close the 5 minutes to walk to the pickup area anyways.

drivers are staging and waiting in the airport. so they will be there 5 mins after you request a ride. do it after baggage claim and once you figure out where your heading!

    My Uber Review

Hello. I highly recommend riding Uber at Vegas. It's very quick, safe and low cost.

I like to share my very good experience with you. I had my first Uber ride at Vegas two weeks ago, from Orleans to Downtown California Casino. It could cost me more than $30 from a taxi ride. Well, Uber cost me only $14.79. The driver was very nice and the ride went so quickly, barely 14 minutes from Orleans' valet parking place to CAL's front door.

Here is the recap of my Uber receipt.

    Distance: 7.55 miles
    Time: 13:55 minutes

    Base fare: $2.00
    Distance charge: $8.31
    Time charge: $2.78
    Safe rides fee: $1.70
    Total: $14.79

    My step-by-step suggestion for you.

    1. Whenever you want to use Uber, just click on your Uber account (at your phone), enter the specific pick-up address and the drop-off address.
    2. Choose the category Uber-X (the most cost-saving category).
    3. You can also get cost estimate for your ride.
    4. Uber driver will be quickly dispatched / assigned to you.
    5. I suggest you to call the assigned driver (name and phone number will show on your phone) to confirm your order of Uber ride. The driver will arrive within a couple minutes. Be sure to stand at your pick-up location promptly.
    6. After you get into Uber car, be sure to see the driver turning on the riding meter (ensure that he didn't turn it on before picking up you).
    7. After you arrive at the destination, also be sure to see the driver turning off the riding meter.
    8. You will get a Uber receipt through email.
    9. Verify the correctness of the Uber bill. After the $15 credit being loaded to your account (with promo code), you first ride will normally be Free.
    10. In case there will be disagreement, you can contact Uber customer service for complaint and billing amount adjustment (to prevent from rip-off by bad driver.)

Do you pay the driver or is everything done electronically? How long does one normally have to wait to be picked up? Say I want to go from Luxor to Rio fairly quickly? How about airport to strip? Would one wait a while to get a car?

You don't pay the driver. Uber system calculates and bills your account electronically. When you sign up the Uber account, you need to provide a valid credit card information for billing. It is very fast from you placing the Uber ride order to getting response on your phone. I highly suggest that you call that assigned Uber driver to ask for his car model and color. Also, to let him know the exact spot you will be standing for pick-up. The driver will show up within minutes.

I haven't tried the ride from Vegas airport to hotel. However, it's very convenient to ride from any location at Vegas. I love it.

Luxor has the Uber pickup location at Luxor's north entrance (underground level), next to the airport shuttle pick-up and drop-off spot.

You can always do google map or mapquest to find out how many miles between your pick-up and drop-off locations. Then, you will know that distance (how many miles) and driving route ahead of time, to ensure the Uber driver will not rip off you.

The good thing about Uber is that the customer service always helps and protects the customer/rider. They will punish and terminate any dishonest or unethical bad drivers.

You tip the driver like you would a taxi?

How long does the free gift last? If I sign up now can I use it three months from now?

Tipping is up to you. You are not required or obligated to tip the Uber driver, if you don't get satisfactory service from him.

Yes, you can sign up right now using the URL that I provided in this thread. The $15 credit will be deposited into your account, which will be applied to your first ride in the future. The credit will not expire.

    Uber vs Taxi Cabs

Just curious if anyone has used Uber as an alternative to taxi cabbing around Vegas. We usually require a couple of taxi cab rides while we're in town and wanted to know opinions on using Uber in Vegas. If you've had Uber experience, and I realize this might be a dumb question, where do you meet up with your Uber driver at normally? There is usually the mile long parade of waiting taxis outside every casino and venue, so I wasn't sure if the Uber drivers were allowed to pull up and pick you up or if you have to rendezvous at some side door or something.

    Thanks for the input!!

We noticed a sign located by Harrahs bus pick up stances pointing out where both Uber and Lyft pick up. Presumably most hotels have a designated spot.
