I haven't been to Vegas since October 2014, and when I was there we had a blast playing the back to the future slots. Does anyone know if they are still around the casinos anywhere, or if they have all been swapped out? Thanks!

I'd love to know too. The ones at Cosmo are gone. I tried Boyd's slot finder and they don't show up on there. Downtown Grand had some but no idea if they're still around.

We spent hours playing them at Aria, drinking some good drinks last trip. We were hoping to repeat that night. We never won huge, but kept winning enough to play for hours and walk away up a bit.

Damn, I have yet to see that slot machine.
Is this machine on its way in so maybe start seeing it in more places or on its way out?

Well we played it in Vegas October 2014, and in Reno February 2015. So I would guess it's on it's way out :(

+1 For Casino Royale. Hoping to invest a few bills on one of them next month. 'Bout the only thing worth a damn in the place (apart from the dollar beers). :)

I can confirm there are two Back to The Future slots, mid place in the casino on the wall that butts against Las Vegas Blvd. they are about 50 ft from the Outback Steakhouse stairs. I got luckly and won $120 on the first wager of max coin ($3.00 I think). I cashed out after the first spin and marked it a success.

Yeah, I think Casino Royale was one of the few places that had them on my August trip. Might give them another chance next week before they fully disappear!

That sucks they're almost all gone. Why do you think? Just not a popular slot? Or perhaps licensing was a pain in the ass?

I think the licensing fees on these slots are very high as a percentage of operating cost. Not to mention most of the new slots technology hardware is pretty expensive. The LED screens have come down in price, but those huge curved touch screens are costly.
I would imagine between the licensing fees for games and leasing costs for slot cabinent the hold percentage would have to be higher to generate a profit. That means if the slot does not have a huge popularity then the casinos move them off the floor quickly.
I thought the manufacturers get a hold percentage in some deals nowadays. So less popular slots end up at smaller properties like Casino Royale who probally can negotiate a more favorable deal from slot companies.

That's why I find it amusing that many of these themed slot machines have such crappy line pays, unless of course you get a major bonus hit. Here in the Midwest CET started pulling all the themed slot machines.
For example at HSI we lost: Airplane, Princess Bride, Ironman, Wizard of Oz (all variations), Lord of The Rings. In there place they have loaded up on the Konami machines.

I think there are a total of 10 themed slot machines of 1700 slots on the floor (WOF not counted since no Pat Sajek) they are: Britney Spears (2), Big Bang Theory (2), Michael Jackson (1), Willy Wonka (4) and Titanic (1)
and they all have high hold percentage and crappy paybacks. Its interesting too, because the new Britney and Big Bang slots they located right next to the nightclub on the second deck to cater to the millennial crowd that frequents the club.

Pretty much all the penny slot inventory is unplayable at HSI. So I only play old and crappy slots there or Video Poker.

We see the same things at the CET (soon to be Rock) and Penn Properties in Ohio. A smattering of licensed games (LoTR, Ellen, Brit, Michael, Titanic) among the rows and rows of WMS and Konami games. I was amazed when HColumbus got Game of Thrones a few weeks ago, thought I wouldn't see that for years in Ohio. Of course, after playing for about 15 minutes I was sick of it, the payouts are awful.

Although I'm not a big slot guy, my all-time favorite game has pretty much disappeared from the strip - Family Guy. Last I saw it was only at PH.

Only unit left in the entire CET empire is there. Ouch. It was at Mirage my last trip in august.

It's one of my faves too. Probably should toss a few bucks its way before it disappears.

I mean we didn't get a hand pay or anything but spending hours playing drinking and coming out a few hundred ahead each worked for us :) I think between the two of us we walked away close to a grand up that night.
