    My Trip Report

We are leaving on Wednesday afternoon to fly from Seattle to Vegas. We've been several times, but we are especially looking forward to this trip since I've been busy being my dads caregiver as he gets cancer treatment (his 2nd stem cell transplant) and I have not been home much this year (We've had to stay in special apartments for patients near a cancer center in Seattle). Its my 16th wedding anniversary Valentines weekend, but we are going a week early to celebrate. My dads best friend is filling in for 4 days for me as a caregiver so I can get my first break away I've had since 2014. I am nervous about going.. but I am sure he will be fine while I am gone.

Anyways, we are in our mid 30's, staying at Cosmo for 3 nights in a terrace studio with Bellagio view. (2 nights fully comped, and $105 free play), and we have a bankroll of about 1K-1.5K a day. Not nearly as big as some of the people on this board, but enough to keep us entertained for the day usually as we only play slots, and tend to do bets in the $1-$5 range. We go planning to lose our money and just go for the fun.. but if we come home ahead thats even better!

We usually see shows and have much longer trips but this trip is only 3 nights/4 days so we won't be doing any shows this time around. We plan to have dinner 1 night at the Aria buffet, one night we are going out to a nice steak and lobster dinner and the rest of the time we will just figure it out as we go.

I wish Wednesday would hurry up and get here!

I hope you have a wonderful trip. It's so important to take care of yourself when you are caring for someone else. Glad you are getting some time to relax and recharge.

Today I'm working on getting things prepared for Vegas, started packing. I always over pack for my trips. I'll be there 3 nights, so 3 outfits should do right? Nope I'm bringing like 10 lol. Good thing bags are free on Southwest.

I had already purchased early bird check in so I don't need to worry about that, but I just need to check in tomorrow to be sure it DID in fact check me in. Even with early bird you have to wait until 24 hours prior to see your boarding pass, correct?

I've got reward cards ready to go, my husband is getting the cash from the bank on Wednesday morning. I got some MyVegas rewards purchased. I am allowed 4, so I got the $50 off $100 at Camelot steakhouse, 2 for 1 Aria dinner buffet, Free Crepe at Aria, and a free drink at the Chocolate bar at NY NY and also got a HEXX 2 for 1 cocktail which does not count against my 4 allowed rewards. My husband is allowed 3 awards and he got the free drink at the chocolate bar at NY NY, the Crepe at Aria, and a 2 for 1 admission to Secret Garden which we may or may not use. All the times we've been there, several of which we stayed at Mirage and I've never been. I thought it might be a good way to spend a bit of time away from the slots. We may or may not actually use these. The last few trips to Vegas we never used half of the rewards I had planned.

I am debating buying the Groupon for the 2 admissions to the bar car for the High Roller happy hour.

My dad (as I mentioned above I am his caregiver as he gets cancer treatment) got sick on Friday and spiked a fever, and I almost thought I was going to have to cancel but he is doing much better now. I know I am going to be worried while I am gone, so I just need to try to let go and have a good time.

Just noticed this thread was moved to trip reports from misc. vegas chat. No idea how it got put in misc. vegas chat to begin with, it was intended for trip reports I tried posting from my phone that was probably my first mistake lol.

Honestly, unless you plant to chug, I would reconsider happy hour on the high roller. My experience is you have to wait longer and car is more crowded. My sister and I wend during the day during the week around 2pm on a Thursday or Friday, can't remember for sure, and we got right on and had the car to ourselves. I did bar car with hubby and it was cool, but I think I'd have been just as happy to get a drunk at the bar on the way up.

Hope you have a great trip!

Can't remember the exact time but threads are supposed to be in chat until 24 hours before trip, then they can be moved to trip reports. Admins will move them for you if you ask (and sometimes they are so fast/good you don't even have to ask!) :D

It is the day before you leave... the mods are great and will move it back there in time for your trip! If it not a quick note to the mods to move it an it will be there before you know it!

Good luck on the trip! I know about having a parent with Cancer... it is hard work for sure bless you for all you do for him.

Glad you get a break to Vegas. Treating cancer patients is what I do for a living. It's a labor of love to care for an ailing loved one. Enjoy your escape! Relax, recharge and win some $$$!

Congratulations on your anniversary... 16 years is incredible for somebody in there mid-30s! Hoping the best for you, your husband, and your dad.

The wife and I had a great time on the happy hour car, but yeah it was crowded and there was a bit more of a wait. Was definitely worth it for us, though.

Don't know if you are guys are into Italian, but if you are going to be at the Mirage, Portofino has a buy one get one on MyVegas for 9K LPs. We loved it!

    Have fun, win big!

Thank you, i am pretty proud of our 16 years considering we were teen parents facing every obstacle. But now we have 4 kids and a nice life and I love him more each year it seems. I got lucky with him, he is a great man.

I have had some very good sessions in the Mirage HL slot area, I would suggest hitting it up. Many hand pays in the mid 4 figure range on Cleo, Wof and top dollar. Best of luck and most importantly congrats on the anniversary.
