The forecast is calling for 18" - 24" starting Friday afternoon.

Only Chess knows this as well as I do, a snow of this magnitude will cripple this area (Southern Maryland) for about a week.

Supermarkets are probably already sold out of milk, bread and eggs, because for some strange reason, I always think people have to have French Toast during big snows.

Following will be 25 comments from SoCal smartasses and Hawaiians about how great their weather is. :grrr::poke:

Well let me be the first. We are supposed to warm to 25 today and no snow.

Breeze, as you know, the great thing about retirement is if you don't feel like going out, you don't have to. That's assuming you have enough alcoholic beverages in the house.

Omaha just got hammered on Monday. Fortunately I'm on the road this week. News reports of all kinds of traffic problems and city crews not being very diligent about getting the streets clear.

    I'm north of NYC.
    *
    I just can't wait............ugh.........
I shovel/plow all day + nite = on the job.
Sleep somewhere at work, for a couple hours, in a chair ?...who sleeps ?
Then, go out, plow + shovel more !
Looks like Saturday a.m. til Sunday afternoon = snow job for me.
Oh...yeh.....then, I get to come home and shovel out my two
end parking spots ( in my complex) ---- which the contractors, plow under /pile up -- because I'm
not home to move out our autos.
They get pissed + do it on purpose === then the management committee gives my two $25 tickets.
    *
    It's a wonderful experience !
I better DVR those NFL playoff games -- I ain't gonna be home to watch.
    *
    Only saving grace ?
It's OT Saturday ......and Double OT on Sunday.
I may have to call in SICK on Monday --- I won't be able to walk.

We're on the border so unknown what the impact will be. Ice, then snow - 1/2" ice, 5-12" snow, who knows. But I have paid attention to the PSAs and I am prepared!

Never thought I'd say this but I'm lucky to have my flights this weekend out of DTW instead of BWI if that snow actually hits. Or is that unlucky because maybe I could've stayed home an extra day or two instead of being stuck in Albany.

As with most of the big storms last year, we are right on the fringe. Only 1 to 3 inches expected in Pittsburgh, however 25 miles to the south it will be much more.

It's 75, muggy, and windy here on Galveston Bay, but a cold front is coming in this evening.

Here in Philly we're looking forward to a weekend of sipping hot chocolate while watching the snow blow around outside. Expecting over a foot of snow and winds of 40-50 mph. IF YOU'RE GOING TO LV BETTER HOP A PLANE TOMORROW! Airlines are rebooking at no charge here at PHL and BWI.

My in-laws are in Florida (west coast, central) and my FIL was telling my husband yesterday how his mom was wearing shorts (FIL called to see if we were getting snow - which we were) Well, their current forecast is for some severe thunderstorms and potential tornadoes - personally, I prefer to be snowed in, thank you very much:thumbsup:

Snows no big deal here, its the coastal flooding that can really mess up people near the water. Combination of full moon high tide a big storm with 60 mph winds is not good. The good part is that they had several days to prepare and the storm is hitting on a saturday so most people can stay home.
Just saw where they are evacuating people near the bay near us ,its low there and it floods bad. Daughter JG lives a couple of blocks from the ocean so she's spending friday night and saturday here high and dry.

I had to wear a pullover for the first two holes of the pro-am yesterday in La Quinta. Talk about a bad bit of weather luck!

We're expecting 8" to 12" in NYC according to the metioroligist at work. I'm not worried but I'll pick up 2 night worth of dinner tomorrow. Hopefully I'll clean my apartment and then take a nice snowy walk.
