    Hey guys,

Was hoping someone might have had experience dealing with this issue. I have an iPhone 6plus 16 gig, and the space is just not enough. I have a page and a half full of apps (use all of them), no pictures, maybe 7 songs, and that's it. My free space is under 1 gb. I've looked on google for recommendations for clearing space, which only worked marginally. Has anyone had any issues or success with freeing up space? Was really hoping to do a live TR with pics and vids but this would be a near impossibility with my space issues. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

If you go to Settings > General > Storage and iCloud Usage > Manage Storage, you can see a breakdown of what's taking up space. Some apps can be surprisingly large.

Hopefully that helps! I'd love to see a live TR.

Delete your commercial email app (yahoo, gmail) and reinstall. A mature email app will have all of the folders synced, which adds a surprising amount of data. The downside is that you won't have immediate access to the folder data upon reinstalling but the folders are still there if you need to access an archive.

Also remember to "double" delete photos/videos as well. They are residually stored after the initial deletion.

I would be interested to know just what you have on there taking up space. My 16 gig phone has about 4 pages of apps, 300 songs and 200 photos (optimized to the cloud) and I still had just under a gig to play with. Something is taking up way too much space.

I listen to on demand content using siriusxm app and found out it doesn't free up space when you delete the content. It was using almost 2gb alone. I have to delete and reinstall once in a while to get space back. Depending on the app it can be a space killer.

I never could get it figured out and this was the sole reason I jumped to Samsung. The 32gb is great, I download away!! I think this is Apple's biggest negative, you shouldn't have to pay so much more for a phone with decent storage.

If you download a ton of podcasts, especially video podcasts, then that could eat up space.

    Get more gigs.

You can't own a 6S Plus and expect to live on a budget.

    Yes, I do own one.

double check your texting... especially if you send pics. Delete old conversations.

Breeze, do you read any books on the 6s Plus? I'm thinking of upgrading and part of the reason is screen size for reading vs. getting a iPad.

Went from a 5s 16 GB to a 6s plus 64GB. Love the screen size. I always had space problems with the 16. Every month I would have to weed through photos and apps and texts to delete stuff. Facebook, for instance, is only 100 MB when you install it. After a few weeks it can cache up to 500 mb. Simply deleting it and reinstalling fixes that.

My phone isn't an Apple, but I know when my wife texts me a photo or video I have to delete them after awhile: they'll linger in my text inbox for a while and can take up a fair bit of room depending on how many are in there.

The other thing would be: to watch for apps that have additional downloads or may need extra storage. Casino game apps are a great example of this: one might list itself in the app store as only needing 50MB of size or something like that, but then it has 200+ games and each one takes 25-50MB of size to download.

And then if your web browser and email program give you an option to clear their cache try that to clear up lingering images and data that you don't really need.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. The two MyVegas apps are leading the way as space eaters, with 2.1 GB and 1GB respectively. I might try deleting both apps and reinstalling, in hopes of creating some more space. I also can just use those apps on my tablet and clear out a ton of space.

I am looking to upgrade soon, but Apple makes it so hard because you have to wait a year basically until the newer versions come out. I dont want a 6s, so if I want to keep an iphone I might as well wait it out until the next version comes out.

There is a Recently Deleted folder in in your photos. Like the Windows recycling bin. When you delete photos in IOS, they go there for 15-30 days. You can go into that folder and select the photos, and delete them again, which is permanent and recovers the MBs of space for other uses.

Stream your music, Move photos to the Cloud. Dropbox/Google Photos are best for this. Clear your caches more often than usual. Also move all Video to the Cloud. Again Dropbox is my choice for this.Box is my 2nd favorite cloud service. Make sure your settings are configured to delete old texts, web history etc. Within 1-3 days.

This actually helped a lot. Went and saw the attachments of people I texted often, and probably deleted over 50 pictures and 10 videos that were attached in the conversations. Ended up free up about 500 mbs doing this.
