Sorry if this has been asked before.

If you stay at a MGM property and then play at a CET property, would you be assigned a host at the CET property even though you never stayed there? or are hosts only assigned to guests of the hotel?

If your play warrants a host, you can get one whether you stay there or not.

i dont play at MGM as only 1 property is close but in the next state

as for CET, I had several host at properties i didnt play at or played very little.

I had a host at harrahs gulf coast and had never went there at all. now im on my 3rd host there after playing there a lil bit...

first time in vegas i lost $300 at Planet Hollywood and got a host shortly after, same with harrahs and now my harrahs host extends to reno

I played a good bit in the linq and the cromwell for my first time and had host greet me while playing

lost a ton at paris recently and nothing

won and lost a ton at CP and nothing

won a small amount on a 2day trip to cherokee and got a host that extends to murphy

so basically if you ever play enough at CET you can get host at other CET properties without yet visiting them, your situation, you need to play and play to get recognized

First off, losses really are not what they look at.

They look at total amount BET. That is not the same as what you came with. You can start the day with $100 and bet a thousand if you are lucky.

Next, a host often will not do much for you. Where you sleep is not an issue.

I think it also depends what you need a host for. Are you looking at staying at their hotel in the future? if you are just looking for comped meals you don't need a host for that but if you want them to offer you free/discounted rooms then a host might help out.

As others have mentioned, it usually depends on your play at the tables and machines, the higher and more $$ you play the more you may end up on the hotel's radar so if your play warrants comps then you should ask for a host. On the other hand, if you don't gamble enough then many hosts will check out your play and just smile and tell you that your play doesn't qualify for any comps at this time.

Funny story, I was downtown at the Cal a few years ago. A player was on the crap tables playing black chips ($100's). He had no players card but after half an hour a host came by and introduced himself and was falling all over the guy, offering him free rooms, free meals, etc. The host gave him his card and said if he ever needed anything, room, etc. to just call him. I think the player was from the strip and decided to give downtown a try.

great story, so basically a host will come up to you if your play warrants it, is this also true with slots and VP?

Yes. Obviously nicer properties will require bigger play for this to happen.

Back in the mid - nineties I was playing at a packed five dollar craps table when this drunken cowboy bought in and started tossing green chips around like they were popcorn. After about ten minutes of his hooting and hollering a casino host literally shouldered through the crowd to get to him.
    The exchange went:
Sir, are you a guest at our hotel?
    I don't think so.
    Would you like to be?

Frankly, many times you don't even need a host. I'm only a low platinum player, primarily blackjack (25-50 a hand) and I pretty much get free rooms at almost all CET properties on most all days throughout the year (including Fr and Sat). If you're looking for more than a room, obviously a host can help there but for just rooms, just check the CET calendar regularly and it's really simple. My position is unless someone is a mid-High Roller, you can do for yourself what a host can do regarding a room and sometime food wise.

Long story short, your play will get you rooms and the like if meritorious whether a host is assigned or not and whether you're staying there or not.
