Any tips tricks or advice about staying at MGM, whats to know about the hotel/casino there?

Is it better to play at the ARIA since they are both MLife properties?

    Thanks!

depends on which one you like more?
I like Vdara which makes me an Aria player
(oddly I don't like the Aria suite except the heated Robot toilet and steam shower)
all Mlife properties let you earn Tier points and Express Comps credit points

but the thing to remember?, unlike CET all Mlife properties are run as separate entities
as far as hosts are concerned, so big play at Aria won't matter to an MGM Grand host and vice versa
so if it's real comps you're after?, play where you stay

but always follow the Golden Rule of gaming...Play where you Win, forget comps

I've only played at Aria when I've been staying somewhere nearby. Two trips ago my bride and I stayed at Vdara (I like it too, Hobofrank!) so Aria was very convenient to access. Another trip we stayed at H32/MC and split our play and dining between MC and Aria.

When we've stayed or spent time at MGM we've tended to spend most of our time just there or at NYNY, Luxor, or MB--sticking to the South Strip so to speak.

I think it depends on what you're hoping to accomplish. Based on your previous threads about comps, if you want to work off your MGM room on the back end, then it would make sense to keep all your play at MGM (and this will generate marketing offers at MGM in the future, too). But if you want a decent marketing offer from Aria come Spring, you may want to devote most of your play there. (Although I admit I don't know what Aria's play threshold is for generating decent marketing offers or teasers.) Splitting play could backfire if your bankroll isn't large enough.

But, as frank said, don't play for the comps, play where you're lucky. Even if it means Casino Royale at 5 in the morning.

This is basically what I've done the past few trips. I split my play about 50-50 between these two properties these past few trips and get property specific offers from both of these places outside of your standard mlife offers. I've chosen MGM the past few times because they've offered me more freeplay/resort credits (which is understandable since Aria is higher on the pecking order). When I stay at Aria I give them more like 80% of my play because I really like it there and I don't have to walk down the street to get there.

The only thing I really like about MGM Grand is the Skylofts [because RR ghost, steam shower, and butler]. The casino is okay, but I have better luck at Mandalay Bay and Aria over MGM Grand.

So when you play at the tables either at Aria or MGM just flash the same Mlife card? Then after playing a few grand at each that should generate some offers in the future? Has this worked for you guys?

Yes. ALWAYS give the dealer your players card, no matter which casino you are playing at.

Offers will be based on your level of play.

If you want to play at multiple casinos, you would be better staying at a CET property...play at ALL properties count the same.

Gotcha, do you guys like the casino at MGM Grand? Ever had any goodluck there? Are the BJ conditions okay at 50$/hand level?

I like MGM. I like to play blackjack in Whiskey Down. During the day you can find it for $50 a hand. Sometimes at night, too. :)

Concentrate your play at the casino for which you want to generate future offers. If you are on corporate offer or no offer, then with mlife you can spread your play across multiple casinos and get back end comps where you stayed.

If staying at MGM, why not just play at MGM?

If you are planning to play mostly at Aria, then I would stay at Aria.

Based on all the input, it seems the best option is to play exclusively at MGM Grand. Thanks all, any tips for the hotel or casino itself? What makes this property/casino special?

Thank you for the update. I hope they don't take all of the tables out of there. It is my favorite spot to play.

Sorry to butt in but how does it work for places like Vdara without casinos. Do they still comp you for your play?

What're the conditions then? $200 a hand? Shouldn't be asking more at that late hour.

By playing a few grand you mean what 40 hands at $50 a hand? That is what about 30-45 minutes of play total? I wouldn't expect anything for that other than a possible discount on the room, but nothing free. As you have been told again and again, 4 hours a day at at least $100 a hand for freebies. But the strip is getting harder and harder to get comps especially at blackjack that has such a low house edge. Double deck with H17, DAS, and DAT is a house edge of .46%, if you can find S17 it drops to .26%. So 4 hours of play at an average bet of $100 generates a theoretical loss of $110 on H17, and $62 on S17, factor in they will give you 30% of that in comps you are looking at $33 or $19 in comps. That aint going to cover the room on a weekend. Just play the games you want to play for how much you want to play per hand and have fun, enjoy the free drinks, and if you win you room is covered. If you want rooms at a top tier place on the weekends its going to cost you $200 or $300 a hand for 4 hours a day for each day you stay. Or just pay for the room for $300 a night and have fun.
