    Hi All,

My wife doesn't really like gaming. She finds it too stressful to watch money actively disappearing. (Yes, she enjoys the winning part. Don't we all.) I think she'd enjoy slots much more in a controlled loss setting like a slot tournament and after reading Curt's post about the Plaza $10 buy-in (or 2,500/pts) slot tourney (Wed/Thurs/Fri), I wanted to see if there are others like it. I did some searching online, but I couldn't find any reliable/current list of non-invitational daily/weekly slot tournaments in Las Vegas.

I guess El Co has a daily one and Silverton has one on Tuesdays.

I think we'll definitely hit up the Plaza and check out their tourney, but does anyone know of other low buy-in ($50 or less) slot tournaments in Vegas? Strip, downtown or off-strip suggestions are all a-ok as we drive to Vegas from L.A. so we have a car to get anywhere. Thanks for any leads!

    ---------------------------
    Regular Slot Tournaments:

Plaza - Players may enter by redeeming 2,500 pts for 1 session or pay $10 cash at the cage. Ace & king members get 50% off their 1st session of the day. Wed/Thurs/Fri. Sessions are at 10am/12pm/2pm/4pm.

MSS - The cost is $10 for B Connected card members. Qualifying rounds are 11am ,12pm, 2pm or 3pm with the finals at 4pm. Daily.

Main Street Station has a regular Big Kahuna slot tournament for a small buy in. It's around $20 or so. I'm not sure which days of the week it occurs. Inquire with the BConnected club when you're there.

Thanks for the info Jimbo. I emailed MSS last night but haven't heard back yet. I'll post the info once I do.

Any other suggestions very welcome. Thanks!

The MSS slot tournament is $20 for non Bconnected members and $10 for Bconnected members. It is 7 days a week with about 5 or 6 sessions starting on the hour. The top 5 winners from each session go to the finals at 4pm with all money being returned to the top 3 players. FYI if you get into the first tournament of the day there are times when less then 5 people are playing so you automatically go to the finals.

This is great info - especially the part about the first session! Thanks Ben! We'll be at MSS so we'll definitely check it out.

I've done MSS. It was fun. We went in early and explored downtown waiting for the final. In think all buyins pretty much go to the winners.

These tourneys last several minutes. What about the rest of your time?

    Sounds good. Thanks Leo!

We do lots of things non-gambling wise too. I just think she might enjoy slot tournaments and if so, yay - more trips to Vegas for us! :)

    Thanks Phantom! Will do.

Not only that but the very reason why I'm not such a big fan of these things is the fact that usually you have to stay tethered near the property. My most recent slot tourney was at Luxor. Session 1 was at 12AM. So from 9AM when i was up and out of bed to 11:30 I couldn't wander too far from Luxor or I would miss my turn. Session 2 was at 3PM so the same thing I had to hang around for a couple hours to make sure I got in my time slot. Then the winners were posted at 6PM and you HAD to be there in case you won a raffle prize. And they did a 2nd chance drawing at 7PM for any winners that weren't there at 6PM. So basically on vacation I had to spend my entire day at or very near to one spot for a silly slot tourny. That is why nearly every property does them!

Just to clarify. Every slot tournament I have been in does not actually play with money. The fee is more of an entry fee. The start the machine on a timer (sometimes a fixed amount of credits). You play for the 5-10 minutes and you are done.

It is NOTHING like normal slot play. All the "wins" just get added to your score.

So, if she does a tournament that is over in 10 minutes, then what?

This is good info Grid. Thanks! Yes, we'll be sure to avoid the tournaments that require return visits every couple hours and tie you to the casino all day. The MSS one for example has a session at 11 am and then we can go off (we have a car) and do whatever we want and be back at 4 pm for the finals (or I can play VP at MSS). I think that's ok. But we wouldn't do one where we had to be at the same casino all day and check in every two hours or something. That sounds terrible.

Playing in the slot tournament isn't supposed to take up all of our time. I just want to see if she'd have fun doing it and if so, perhaps it can facilitate more future visits if she enjoys them. She plays some slots, but feeding $20's into machines is more painful for her than most people - and yes, I get that it's an entry fee and you're playing for points, not actual money (unless you win the tournament or place in the top whatever). But a low buy in slot tourney might be up her alley. This is more of an experiment than anything, which is why I'm asking around to see what's available and what they entail, since we've never done them.

Otherwise, we'll be doing other Vegas-y things. I'll gamble some, we'll eat, drink and wander and maybe she'll hit the spa. Whatever. I totally understand this is a very short 10-20 minute thing (per round). It's more of an experiment to see if she would be into this type of thing (and want to go back to Vegas more often). That's all. It's just for fun and not our entire itinerary or anything. Thanks for the info though.
