A great Margarita is easy: Fresh lime juice, simple syrup, good tequila, Cointreau, rocks. Done. Just call it. Everything else is a Slurpee.

Very subjective. Like best steak, best burger, etc... I prefer mine on the rocks too. Exactly as Ken described.

Exactly. The key is to find somewhere that uses fresh lime juice not slurpee mix. And Don Julio 1942 + Grand Mariner float doesn't hurt.

I am partial to the prickly pear margarita at Mesa Grill. I can make a mean margarita, but was just curious what others thought.

Hussongs at Mandalay Bay Shoppes; don't forget their Happy Hour. Great value, always stop there for margaritas,

    Try a Mexican Martini

Having been a in a former life a connoisseur of Tequila based drinks.

Instead of a Slurpee Frozzie from a mixer machine Try:
    > A twist, have your Fav Tequila served as a Mexican Martini.

As far as best, /still traveling the world in search of the best.
Soon to be searching in the Quintana Roo area, in October

Indeed. If any of these "best" recs are blended and/or with some other fruit or whatever, it might be damn tasty but it's not a Margarita. (And before anyone gets all bent out of shape we do enjoy Margarita-like concoctions at home and away, say ones with prickly pear extract.) And sweet/sour mix or a budget orange liqueur is a shortcut but if holding to the idea of making a Margarita, it doesn't cut it. Again, it might be tasty ...

Margies are my drink of choice & have tried them many places..... I really like Margaritaville's and have had good ones at Bellagio but the best I've ever had, believe it or not was in the DL at Rio.....served in a tall hurricane glass & it was perfection....so had to have a couple more. Needless to say had a little trouble navigating out of there..... YUM!

I'm totally hooked on the prickly pear margaritas at La Gloria inside Caesars food court. Many moons ago, Bally's had the best on the rocks at the center casino bar. I'd load up on 2 for 1 coupons... those were the days.

Best that I have had was the top shelf margarita at the Border Grill in Mandalay Bay. Kind of a hidden location, but very good drinks and food.
