Do I see unfortunately now Boyd is jumping on the the exaggerated pricing during busy convention times? They used to be always steady on their pricing, I guess we'll have to adjust or visit times!
Actually the biggest convention is the CES which will be held from Jan 6 - 9, 2016. Surprising that the hotel rates are reasonable (under $50 a night) at the Cal and MSS right now. They normally predict approx. 125k people attending the CES. There is a SHOT show going on from Jan 19 - 22 and in 2014 they had about 67k people attending it. At about the same time there is a porn expo but I don't think they will have more than 20 to 25k people attending.
I don't get the premise. Every hotel in the world raises their rates at times when they have more demand for bookings. If you found one that did not, instead of seeing pricey nights you'd just see sold out nights. If you have found Boyd cheap during conventions, it was likely because their location kept the demand for their rooms mostly down.
actually the OP is questioning why room rates are higher than normal when they are lower during bigger conventions like the CES.
