I just read about this today... the Hard Rock Hotel is ripping out the center bar and remodeling the casino.

The article in the Sun claims everything will be done by September 4. My next trip to Vegas is scheduled for that weekend and I am considering double-booking at HRH. Can that deadline be trusted?!?

I dunno... that's 60+ days of construction time... they're not building a new tower.

Hmmm... this is slightly making me reconsider my planned stay @ Hard Rock in August.

This. It would be one thing if you were 10 to 15 days beyond the scheduled finish date. The mirage poker room was about 10 days late, iirc.

I'm honestly surprised they even set an opening date. I remember when Aria was going through something similar with the City Bar --> Alibi transition, they didn't even announce a date until they were almost done. I suppose the generous reading of it is that it's such a minor project that they think it'll only take three months, but I'm skeptical.

Anyway, I'd indeed be reconsidering a stay there if it were closed, just because it's basically the central point of the casino. It's not like Mandalay Bay or Bellagio, where they have bars scattered throughout; to me, it'd be as, say, Lift Bar and Alibi were both closed simultaneously, or if Chandelier were shutting down for renovations.

Bumping this back to the top...

Can anyone provide a report on progress of the Center Bar renovation? Any guess if it will be done by Labor Day weekend (or no shot in hell)?

3 months in commercial construction is basically f**k all. Must be very, very minor if they are putting firm dates on milestones at this point.

Ah Ha! Ya teaser! I was there last week Sunday-Tuesday, but had an awful lot of business to do and was only downstairs for a few hours each night. All the "regular" people I know were "off", so I met a lotta new staff... at least new to me. Nobody to give me the good "scoops" like you always get!

paperposter - thanks for the feedback! I hope that it is mostly finished by the 5th but this doesn't sounds too promising in the short term. It is good to see you back posting in the forums!

I sure did and it was "alright"... to be fair my son and I ordered a couple slices about 9 p.m and they didn't quite pop 'em in the oven long enough for me. The place is owned by the Ferraro family that owns the Italian place across the street of the same name (Ferraro's). I'd like to order an actual pie fresh cooked and try it... am sure it'd be better. Very few places to sit in the small space, but saw lots of people just walking around the casino and eating the slice. Also saw several people with a box heading up to their room. Like FU... Pizza Forte delivers to the rooms, which should be GREAT! They also have something called Hoffman Hot Dogs that seem to be a big deal... I didn't try one yet, but they sure looked good.
