I know what I DON'T want. More dancing dealers and LOUD music. But given the way these owners roll, I won't count on that.

Several $10 3:2 two-deck blackjack tables with DAS.
    A UTH table.
    A good quality cafe.
Attractive, young-ish female dealers, but not necessarily 'scantily clad'.
Music volume along the lines of MSS, Fremont, Plaza, Nugget, 4 Queens or Cal.
    Better, brighter lighting.
Cocktails served in glass instead of plastic.
    Total remodel of the restrooms.
TVs...several of them over the pits, running sports programming.
Move the gift shop to face Main instead of Fremont... convert the current gift shop Fremont frontage to an exterior-view VP bar...but enclosed & air-conditioned.
Re-open the "pass-thru" to the Cal...put shops in there to justify it...perhaps some slots, or even a smaller bar with good-rules bartops.
    ...I'll think of more later...

    LInked players club
Food options: Breastraunt/sports pub, Food court with a Five Guys, Jimmy Johns and a Tim Hortons
Skywalk link to California (it would benefit Boyd and LVC so they should split the cost)
    A good VP bar
    All suite hotel tower
A split casino: First level Rowdy with modern music, 5 buck limits and dancing dealers/ Second level more 70s/80s/90s music at a reasonable volume and 10 dollar min tables with good odds
A subtle well engineered scent, more like mirage than Plaza if you know what I mean

Honestly if it was mine to run, I would evaluate all of those options. I really don't understand how you think it is a joke. If you thinking a coffee shop/2 dollar 3:2 blackjack/ fullpay VP joint or a nightclub/high end retail and VIP casino will make it in the present Downtown you are mistaken. A casino needs to appeal to patrons who have just become legal to those near death and with the bankroll of working poor to upper middle class to have the best chance of future success. It would be nice if they had the knack of making even the lowest roller feel important like Benny Binion used to but those days are sadly gone.

Probably not feasible to have a skywalk between the Cal and LVC. For one thing they are "competitors" so I doubt they would agree to that. So easy to just cross the street to get to each hotel (once they open up the back area of the LVC) so no real need to have a skywalk IMHO.

Definitely a coffee shop (in the area by the old greater moments room) and possibly another nice restaurant either upstairs in the old upper deck restaurant or in the area across from the old player's club. They did try the nightclub thing in the back area (old sportsbook) but it didn't last. Get rid of that dumb store in front and like gg put up an outside bar in that area.

Bring back the best 21 in vegas with surrender, 3:2, 20x odds on the crap tables.

Unfortunately with a Stevens run casino I would expect LOUD music and dealertainers, something that will make us old timers run away from so we probably won't be playing there very much.

Yeah, it looks like Stevens is competing with Boyd properties, Boyd has 3 downtown and now Stevens also has 3. In any event the change will be good for downtown since the LVC has been dying a slow death.

More and Bigger Hamm's Beer Specials!

OK... how about playable VP Pay tables... you know like across the street at the Cal/MSS... not like the GG or D?

OK... how about opening the old backdoor so we can get to the Cal quicker if you don't do the above?

I'm one of the "old" people around here, & I don't mind the 'Stevens' treatment coming at all... I like 'theD' ok & Golden Gate is one of my favorite places to play... with 'theD', it's really just too loud....even GG keeps the music subdued enough to hold a conversation... 'theD'? Not so much... but I'm ok with the 'vibe' at 'theD'... I like to play UTH there.

What I'm hoping for is that they'll go for a bit of diversification, and mirror Boyd a bit more than 'theD'... I seriously doubt we'll see an 'across-the-street' version of the Golden Gate...that would be redundant.
He's a smart businessman...I suspect the new LVC will be unlike either of their two other properties.

Was giving this a lot of thought and I first had to eliminate what is already being done and one thing I thought about was a place themed for the LGBT community. You could close the gift shop and turn it into something similar to the old Drink & Drag that was in Neonopolis. Have food places that are popular in gay areas of New York, San Francisco, and West Hollywood. And as the stereotype goes; "when the gays move into an area and renovate the property values go up"

    Just a thought

I'd like it to see it become a destination with owners who understand how to draw in business by offering the most basic Las Vegas fundamentals: great food & gambling values.

    - Refurbishment and reopening of the hotel towers.

    - Reopening of all the old areas of the ground-floor promenade which were stupidly walled off by Tamares, which could have been used to expand the facility with a sports book and restaurants.

    - Restyling of the casino to an inviting "old-school upscale" atmosphere which hearkens back to old Vegas combined with some modern stylish touches.

    - I'll say it again - GOOD GAMBLING VALUES. $5 pai gow, full pay VP, perhaps even an old fashioned $3 3:2 blackjack table if they really want to get some attention.

    - A poker room. Right now there are only 2 casinos (Binions and GN) that offer poker downtown.

    - Destroy that MORONIC t-shirt and knickknack shop and turn it back into casino space.

If it's been bought by some bean-counting asshat who cares nothing about ambiance and attracting gamblers, expect something saddening like a Walgreens entrance 10 feet from the casino floor.

That's the way I'm leaning too topcard. It will be interesting to see what he does with it.

I haven't been visiting LVC as long as many of you here but do kind of remember, while coming from the Cal using the pass through, when the back area was filled with slots. Does anyone know what kind of space is available on the second floor? Is it hotel rooms or is there public space to develop? I remember a fancy restaurant but can't recall where it was situated.

I'm just trying to get an idea of what he's starting with.

My memory isn't what it used to be :)

Yeah, I'm hoping he re-opens the rooms. But, if I remember right someone was saying they closed for a reason, asbestos maybe? But, I do like the idea of an all suite hotel.

I think a good hamburger place would do good there. He's already got a good steak place, and a couple of good cafe places at GG and The D.

I'd like to see the music at a level somewhere between GG and The D. GG you almost can't hear it at night, and The D you have to yell. My voice was going out after playing craps for 3 nights there.

And, the "uniform" that they're wearing now would be nice 24/7. ;)

I'm tired of dark casinos. I'd like to see more casinos that mirror the atmosphere of MSS. Bright, shiny casino with pretty, friendly CW's and fun dealers.

There is one thing I've noticed about the MSS CW's that makes them stand out from other CW's, even the ones next door at the Cal. The thing I've noticed that makes them different is that when they ask if you want cocktails and drinks they really mean it. They'll come up to you and look you in the eye and ask. Try that at other casinos. They call "Cocktails, Drinks..." then when you turn you head to look at them all you see is their ass as they round the corner.....sheeesh!
