When we're in Vegas we only dine at buffets.

Are we the only ones that are true fans, and exclusive to buffets? IMO, where else can you sample foods from around the world prepared properly, all in one sitting? Add to that the new option at many buffets of unlimited beer and wine and we're hooked. Some of our favorites are the Mirage, Rio, Red Rock, GVR, MSS, PH, Silverton, The M, and a number of others. We only have breakfast, and an early dinner buffet, as three buffets would leave me needing a new wardrobe. LOL For breakfast I always have a made to order omelet with everything in it, plus a sampling of all the other breakfast items, especially bacon, and maybe even a little sushi for fun. My wife will have a salad, and pizza, or something just as crazy as that for breakfast When it comes to dinner, well, there's split crab legs, shrimp, Chinese, sushi, stir fry, steaks, and just about anything else you could want.....and then you have desert. Oh yes, dessert. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Every minute my Vegas countdown ticker inches ever closer to Sunday Brunch in Vegas, where we're headed right after we pick up the rental car....with bottomless mimosas and champagne. Yeah, I'm ready. LOL

Not sure I could do it. We always hit up Bacchanal and then maybe one or two others (in 7 nights) if we're drunk, or just can't decide what sounds good. We have talked about for our upcoming trip getting the 24 hour "Buffet of Buffets" pass from CET, not to eat at any of them necessarily, but just to go in and sample each. Not sure its worth the money, but the experience might be worth the price of admission.

The only CET buffets we've done (aside from CP) is Paris, and Harrah's. We liked Paris for breakfast, Harrah's was meh.

I think if all I did was eat buffets it would force me to try a lot of things I ordinarily wouldn't as to me most buffets (with some notable exceptions) taste the same.

Different strokes. Haven't had a Vegas buffet in years, won't have one during the upcoming trip. And that is why traveling is a good thing -- everyone gets what he/she wants.

Addendum: I can hang with a brecky buff it they have fresh stations.

No thanks. Buffets are fun from time to time but I would rather get that full service dining experience. And when it comes to international, I've always found it better to get it from a place that specializes in that cusine over a buffet that does the most familiar dishes in a bland way.

Not my thing either. Bacchanal every once in awhile. Did Spice Market on a Groupon twice (once it was good, once it was bad).

If anything I may do a breakfast buffet if I"m in a hurry and I know I won't be eating again for awhile.

Mirageluvr, nothing wrong if it's what you enjoy. You brought up some good points, especially about the variety. The Vegas buffets you mentioned are a cut above most of the buffets offered throughout the country in quality and freshness.

You're on vacation! Enjoy yourselves and do what you like to do. I enjoy buffets also. I tend to go to the ones you mentioned and also to the higher end ones like Bellagio, Wynn, and WS. These places has high traffic as far as customers so the food is always fresh.

Even though buffet prices has skyrocketed, I think it still offers value for what you get.

Breakfast buffets are fine in the absence of a good old fashioned casino coffee shop. I prefer hot foods served directly to a table. I find dinner buffets largely overpriced, with many items I simply would not ever order, let alone eat. As to desserts, I find most buffet's dessert offerings to be average at best and usually not worth the calories they contain.

I used to be until I hit my 40's. Then the following things happened:

1)My metabolism slowed down, so I couldn't eat as much without disastrous consequences.
2)I had eaten at each of the buffets, so nothing was "new"
3)I started getting comps to the higher end restaurants, so buffets were no longer a "necessity"

However, you gotta do what you gotta do. As long as you're enjoying it, knock yourself out.

We got the 24 hour buffet pass on our trip this week for one day and it ended up being a great deal, especially since we were able to comp it. We ate at the Bacchanal twice, Paris once (blah), and Spice Market once. For us, buffets are a big part of the fun of Vegas.

One of the things about "diversity" for us, and as pointed out above, if we want northern Thai or Vietnamese, Yucatan Mex or border Mex, bistro, whatever, most places we travel have a diverse food scene -- Vegas certainly does, local big name and chain -- so we eat around the world one dedicated/knowledgable restaurant at a time versus one pass through the line. Again, it's the not the one way, the only way, it's just our way.

Vegas has so many restaurants we try to squeeze into a trip that its hard to enjoy a buffet. If my wife and I overdo it for one meal that ruins our plans for our next meal. We usually try to enjoy a breakfast buffet and one dinner on each trip if it works out.

I do the opposite and do zero buffets. Haven't been to a buffet in many years. I find that the food is overly salted as well.

    I do enjoy a Vegas Buffet --
because I can try a little bit of everything.
And have learned ( the hard way !) about NOT overeating at one.

I still feel the more expensive Vegas buffets - are still a bargain.
But I only do those once a trip.
I will hit up any number of Seafood Buffets during one trip.

I do a lot of buffets in vegas, but I would quibble with calling it 'dining', and the notion that the noted buffets are preparing dishes from around the world 'properly'.

Personally I love breakfast buffets as breakfast food is hard to screw up (and delicious), they are cheaper, and like you I skip lunch.

But I do far fewer dinner buffets.

This year I'm checking out the Bellagio and Aria. I've also tried the Wynn, MB and Paris. The old Imperial Palace buffet for one that was not so special. ;-)

I totally agree with your points. I will dine at Ruth Chris or Morton's, but when I'm in Vegas, bring on the buffets. I guess my palate is not as refined as some, but I do enjoy them. :licklips:

When I first started going to Vegas, I loved buffets. Now. as I have gotten older, I find that all I need is an inexpensive breakfast buffet. I don't even want a dinner buffet anymore. I find that all I need is a sandwich for dinner.
I have gotten to the point where if I see a lot of food, I lose my appetite.
So, one buffet per day is more than enough for me.
