So I always pick up one of the many available calendars available when I'm in town. Never sure if I will be back the following year, so I picked up the 2016 one last month when I was there (as you may remember from my trip report: https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?121833-Golden-Nugget-June-10-15-Trip-Report-Lots-of-Info ).

So as I flip through it now that I'm home in Canada, what do I find? This damned calendar is anti-downtown! Come think of it these calendars have always been so strip-related, which was fine when I was a Strip guy but after my trip I'm a lover of downtown.

So my question is can you suggest where I might order a good calendar that includes downtown pics/footage/content?

Thanks, and please send Pizza Rock...I'm hungry.

The Golden Gate makes a nice calendar with pics of their scantily clad dealers. I'm pretty sure you have to buy it at the GG, not available on-line, I could be wrong though.

Thanks Mike....not really looking for that. Looking for one that features the properties downtown. Just can't believe every photo in the 2016 calendar I bought at the gift shop has not a single shred of evidence that Downtown exists.

GG also has a 'historic' calendar which shows just GG through out the years. Once again, probably not exactly what you're looking for but I thought it was pretty cool the one year I got it (I also got like five of the dealertainers calendars that year and gave them out for Xmas).

I want to keep this topic alive because I think I'm onto something here. I had an exchange with Anthony Curtis about this today and it truly sounds to me like a giant hole in the Las Vegas souvenir market.

I may start another thread with a poll, but I'm truly curious to know whether some of you would opt for a Fremont or Downtown themed calendar ? It seems there are people that are staunch in their support and love of one "part" of Vegas over another.

Would you consider a downtown calendar over the traditional ones available everywhere that essentially ignore the existence of Fremont.

I vote for the downtown calendar even though I have not played there yet. Downtown/Fremont be a big part of my August Vegas trip. After being "confined" to Strip these past few years -- due to personal laziness and the seeming hostility MGM and CET seem to have towards non-Strip properties -- I am excited to venture off the reservation for a bit. Plus after watching "Casino" on AMC last night, I can't wait. Hell, I might be more excited to visit Fremont Street than I am to visit the Strip. Does that make sense?

    kev,
That is an awesome trip report. I will move el Cortez higher on my to do list. I agree there needs to be more $5 tables but isn't the Strip crowded enough?

That was a great trip report.

    As re: the calendar:

Why don't you contact Scott Roeben, who publishes the VitalVegas blog? He's a terrific photographer and (get this) he works for the Fremont Street Experience! I'll bet he could get the FSE to put out a promotional calendar with just a little bit of encouragement

They could even use the terrific photos he posted of Fremont Street after the rain on his blog.

Anyway, check out that link for some Downtown Las Vegas inspiriation.

Thanks for the mention, Bazzito52 (I assume that's you real name). I would love for FSE to have a calendar featuring downtown! I'm definitely going to run that one up the flagpole. FSE might not be entirely the right entity to put something like that out, as it would likely contain just the casinos in the FSE family, which would leave out photogenic casinos like Downtown Grand, Plaza, El Cortez, etc. Still, even just the FSE hotels (there are eight) and the canopy would fill out 12 months, and I would personally buy a calendar like that. I guess the calendar-makers are, like other companies, focused on subject matter they think will move the most product. While a lot of people visit downtown, I'm pretty sure those who are passionate enough about it enough to want a calendar amount to a fraction of the folks who visit The Strip and want to see photos of the big resorts. Anyway, great thread, and food for though for 2016. I pitched a "Men of SlotZilla" calendar, as I think the ladies would eat it up, but the casino photo calendar could be cool, and maybe we could donate the proceeds to charity or something. Or to my Captain Morgan fund, either way.

Funny no downtown Las Vegas casinos are included in a Las Vegas calendar considering that every casino south of Sahara Ave are not even in the city limits of Las Vegas.
They are in unincorporated land governed by Clark County!
I had a friend that went to Vegas for the first time in May and stayed at Luxor.
I asked him if he went to the Stratosphere or downtown... he said no.
I then told him that he has actually/officially has never been to Las Vegas. lol
    DOWNTOWN RULES !!

I truly think we are onto something here. How do I remain part of this as the thread starter! Lol.

I would think the smaller but very spirited downtown Vegas fans would eat this up.

You could take your own photos or search through something like Google Images and find a dozen pictures you'd like... most print shops can make them in to a calendar for around $20-25
