    My Trip Report

This is a trip summary more than a trip report. I started writing a report and realized most of my days are very repetitive. (As are my reports as I do the same things every trip!)

    So in summary:
    Trip – Saturday to Saturday

About 14 hours a day of craps.
Several sessions of Pai Gow (tiles)
A few sessions of Pai Gow (poker)
    A few shoes of BJ
    A dozen roulette bets
    A few hands of UTH
A few hours of poker (cash)
    A dozen slot pulls

    Casinos Visited:
MGM (home base): +9K (craps and a little of everything)
    Aria: +20K (all craps)
    Mandalay Bay: +5K (all craps)
    Luxor: +3K (all craps)
    Monte Carlo: +2K (all craps)
    Excalibur: -300 (craps some UTH)
    NYNY: -700 (craps)
    Cosmo: +2.5K (craps)
    Bellagio: -600(one craps hand)
    Encore: -400 (one craps hand)
    Wynn: -700 (one craps hand)
    Palazzo: -800 (one craps hand)
    Venetian: +1200 (one craps hand)

Donation to college funds: 11K (or at least in that ballpark, I tend to lose track)

Restaurants: Craftsteak, Gallagher’s(twice), Tenders, Camelot, Jean Georges

A successful trip in that I came home positive, a slight bad taste as I gave away a whole bunch of money my last 2 days. Played way more $100 tables than I should have, but 2 tables mostly stayed at that level because a few big boys were in town, although they were never reserved they did stay black.
I don’t normally go north of Aria, but decided to do a trip to those northern casinos since I was by myself. Didn’t fare well but didn’t play too long either. I did nicely at the Cosmo, think I could have done even better, but I attract yahoos like flies to the craps tables, they never stay empty for long.

I still think I would destroy at the Monte Carlo if I could ever get an empty table, those are the softest tables around, the dice just lie down and die. Got lucky at the Luxor as some yahoo was chucking the dice and had a great hand (too bad I don’t bet bigger on them). Mandalay Bay was amusing as I was hopping from empty table to empty table as I kept drawing a crowd. Thought the boxes were going to have a canary. Did really nicely at Aria, guess I made the floor nervous as he stayed at the table the entire time for one of the sessions (not my biggest one though).

One of my strategies is to make money shooting for crap/7 on the come-out. Had my best single time ever on that strategy, between the world/3-way red/craps bets made over $1500. The table was not happy, except for one guy who realized what I was trying to hit and went along for the ride. The rest of the hand was very short, so I was happy the strategy paid off on the come-out.

Hit the bonus (all twice) and the small/tall a few times. The dealers tell me that they are losing money on the bonus bets as it seems the big betters hit it enough to have a loss. (Guess management doesn’t believe them yet….if true I figure it is only a matter of time before it disappears.) [The one time I was playing with a guy putting max ($1100) on them he did manage to hit the tall twice and had a chance to lay some number for big gains. Still $1100 a bet doesn’t take long to add up!]

According to the dealers shareholders asked the BJ tables to be 6/5 and they were busy (interesting if true, as I can’t believe most shareholders would know the difference – maybe a few big ones?). All the tables I played at were 3/2 but they were at least $25 tables.

Already trying to squeeze a trip before my yearly Thanksgiving trip!

Wow! I wouldn't leave a trip like that with any bad taste in my mouth. What an incredible run! Every casino you won at, your winnings were four and five figures. And the only times you lost, it was a few hundred. Great run! Especially considering the amount o hours you put in. That is a fantastic result!

I saw that thread, but sadly I *think* I will be there a week or 2 before. So I'll miss it. Great idea though!

I do like the ladies, but alas have zero skill at picking them up. I have found it easier to just part with money. Never any misunderstandings that way either :wink2:

So, from I'm reading between the lines, you dice set. How has that worked for you? I've been practicing for months and leave for Vegas tomorrow. Any particular tables or casinos i should stay at? Any advice?

you want tables that are hard as concrete w/ zero padding or bounce

    so MC, PH and Cosmo

What location on the table do you prefer? I've been educated to stick-left, correct?

I've been practicing many years. I use the hardway set for the feed back it gives. You can immediately tell if you are off axis, have a single or double pitch.
When you practice it really helps to have a computer. We use protest numbers, a statistical set of numbers, to see if we're any better than random. You can't really throw 1000 times a session to get good numbers so a special statistical set determines if we really are better than random or not. For protest numbers to work you also have to use the hardway set.
It also helps to have a partner. While its fairly easy to see if the dice are together, it's much easier for a partner to see if you have a race condition (x-axis) problem.
(Also helps if they are entering the throws in the computer, getting the dice etc)

I like a nice soft table, ideally without much bounce. They are forgiving on the edges of the dice. I stay away from the hard tables, anything like concrete tends to be less forgiving on the edges. The real bouncy tables can also cause havoc. If you practice enough, I always recommend practicing a lower trajectory (a roll), and a higher one (a bounce), then switch to the one best suited for the table. It's hard to master multiple trajectories though, so start off practicing one around 45 degrees.

The most important thing is to stay away from a newly opened table, brand new dice have very sharp edges. The duller the edges the more forgiving they are.
Takes a few hours before they dull.

And remember you are just influencing the dice a little, don't magically expect 60 roll hands. Steadily getting into the teens should be enough to make money!

Obviously the shorter table the better.

My home casino is MGM so I like several of the tables there. Mandalay Bay and Monte Carlo both have nice soft tables. Luxor has concrete aircraft carriers which are normally fatal, but they don't seem to care if the dice are short which is nice if you can do a low throw on axis.

Nice wins, Bo - always enjoy your TRs and summations.

It'd be cool to have you at the VMB Craps Table but I saw you'd may be out there before. But if you can swing it a spot is saved with your name on it.

The most profitable trip I ever had was about 100k. Unfortunately I gave half of it back the very next trip as I got cocky. Even worse was the trip I gave some back was the next calendar year!

A shame I'm going to miss that. Would be nice to play on that table. Sounds like fun!
