SLS Rooms

Hey All,

I'm headed back to Vegas with my wife for the first time in a while. We're staying at SLS for a couple nights (free - mailer) and have never been. I've heard the rooms are... odd, with some nice and some super small, depending on the tower.

From what I understand, the Lux tower is the best, the world tower being the largest (in terms of # of rooms) and the story tower having the smallest rooms (designed like a boutique).

Any thoughts on the rooms from those of you who have stayed here?

I'm hoping to get a room in the world or Lux tower (and not the smaller story tower rooms) basically for the size. Can you request what tower you'd like or is it luck of the draw? Any advice or info is greatly appreciated.

I stayed at SLS for my birthday this past March. I love, love, love the hotel. It's gorgeous, intimate, and less congested than the rest of the strip. I also won 500 on slots there!

I was booked in a Lux Tower room, and just through some friendly conversation at the front desk, our agent gave us a Lux Tower corner room which was BIG with awesome views of Sahara and Stratosphere . The room was gorgeous. Big, open, very modern yet comfortable, and the rain-head shower with window views of Strat Tower was perfect. I can't speak to the other towers, but Lux was brilliant.

The pool is fun and relaxing with a great cocktail list. Also make sure to visit Bazaar Meat for dinner and The Perq for coffee. I have to say, although I am loyal with CET, I will make many more trips to SLS. It's a real gem, and people don't realize it yet, because they are still very attached to the big boys center strip. Enjoy your stay! I can't wait to hear how you like it.

 

The Sahara turned into the SLS so I'm not sure what you saw out your window.

But i agree the Lux tower was nice. The property is very small. It felt more like a locals casino than a full on Vegas resort. The pool was small, the gaming floor was small the restaurants were small etc. But some people enjoy the boutique thing. We had fun there and I have pics of my room on my trip report site. I wouldnt stay there for more than a night unless your thing is clubbing. I enjoy seeing vegas and outside of The STRAT I really felt on an island there.

Excuse my ignorance on this one, and I'm sure this has been addressed, but is all of SLS completely new? Did they gut part of Saraha and revamp it? It seems like they were building on that site forever and I can't remember what was there before as compared to what's there now.

All the glowing reviews has me intrigued. I have a bad taste in my mouth from recent experiences at what used to be our usual place -- the Golden Nugget. We've been looking for a new home base and I'm thinking we should check SLS out.

 

They renovated the Sahara instead of doing an implosion/rebuild. That's good and bad. It saved them money and allowed them to open sooner but many of the rooms are pretty crappy and small, just as they were at the Sahara. New carpeting etc... but you definitely don't want a standard room. The good news is the place isn't very crowded, even on weekends, so you should be able to easily get a better room and not have to stay in a regular room.

 

I was looking at the pix here on Oyster and the World Tower rooms look pretty swanky. 360 feet though -- not terribly spacious. I just don't get the design of the Story Tower rooms. And 325 feet? That's pushing it for me.

I'll have to start looking for deals!

 

When I say view of Sahara I mean view of Sahara Avenue.

The Avenue juts out into the mountains, so it's quite a nice view.

 

I had a King room in the Lux Tower. I wasn't impressed. It was impractical and rather creepy, tiny window - no view. The highlight was the bathroom. Full details here.

 

SLS's renovation of Sahara is, as the old saying goes, putting lipstick on a pig. They may also touched the pig's eyebrow.
But they definitely forgot to spray some perfume on the pig to cover the stink.

 

I got a Lux King Suite (they called it a "suite") back in October, for my cousin (I got it when they were "matching" other offers)
While I didn't stay in it, I spent a few minutes in it and it was pretty nice. All new furniture and stuff...but the mural on the ceiling above the bed was pretty creepy, LOL.
If offered, I'd definitely stay there (again)...I actually enjoyed my time there (albeit short), AND it's a stop on the MonoRail, so you're connected to "The Strip"

 

Really? Are you talking about the rooms or the entire hotel? In two visits to the casino, I would have no idea it's not a new property except the parking garage feels old.

Exactly this. Its much more than lipstick on a pig. The place is, for lack of a better word, cute. Its fun and whimsical just much too small of a casino for serious gamblers. I've played at Sahara plenty in the past and you would never know (outside the parking garage and those horrible elevators) that this was the same place. The only downside was that they chopped into the casino so much for all the clubs and what not that its a really tiny place to gamble. The seats are very close to each other and when I was there they tied off a big section for some daily slot tourney so there was even less room to play.

Again my room was nice, the staff was nice but I did feel isolated. Yes you can take the monorail to get to other places and they even had a promo where if you show them your monorail pass they would give you back that money in free play. That was a smart move. But you still cant walk casino to casino like you can on the rest of the strip. I like hopping around and seeing new stuff.

I would have gone back. Back after running about $8K through their slots the 1 night I stayed there by bounce back offers were pretty junky. I was getting like $50 in free play or so when the same play gets me $250 at TI, CET etc in town. My last offer was for some slot tournament there that didnt interest me at all.

Once Resorts World is up and running I might make another run at SLS if they would just ditch one of those restaurants, that are only open like 6 hours a day, and open up the casino a little.
