We are probably going to be staying at the Linq this summer. Wondering if anyone has stayed there recently, and if so, is it a big improvement over the old Imperial Palace? I know that the rooms are small, but I understand that every room now comes standard with a refrigerator - Is this true? Also, do the standard rooms have a closet? From the videos and pics of the room it looks like there is just a small space to hang a few shirts next to the bed.

Have they improved the elevators at all or the noise from Carnival Court? Any advice on a certain room to ask for and has anyone had any luck with the $20/$40/$50 trick? Any other advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks all!

We had fridges. The "closet" is a small space like you hint at.

Elevators are better, but you have to tap your room key to go up and punch the floor fast, which is annoying. If you are in a "green district" room (former tower 3), you may have quicker service using "blue district" elevators (former tower 2). Both banks are accessible to you and most people in the lobby don't realize the elevators leading to the "blue district".

Carnaval Court is Carnaval Court, that place will never shut up. Ask for a quiet room not facing that if that's an issue. As long as you don't check in late, it shouldn't be a problem. Most of the former tower 3 is good for quiet I think. Now labeled as 3xxxx rooms, and is in the "green district". We heard some construction noise in our first stay, but that should be over with by the time you get there.

Overall, I thought the room remodel was a significant improvement. Will be coming back in the future.

Stayed there April 26 to30. Very nice, you will not recognize the casino. Has an upscale look now. As you know, the rooms are small but nicely decorated. Baths very nice.
Full tile floor and walls. New fixtures and large walk in shower. They do have a closet and that's where the refrigerator is located. Our room was towards the front , so we
used the front elevators, the ones closest to the front desk. Those have always been less crowed and faster than the ones in the back. They just had installed the electronic
device in the elevators the require you to wave your room key in front of this device to use the elevator. Its only on one side of the elevator door so if a few people are on its
difficult to reach. The same system is used on your room door. Its a circle shaped device and you just wave your room key in front of it to open your room door.

Our room did face Carnival court. In fact our room was sandwiched in an inside corner , so no view either. Could barely see part of Flamingo and Ballys in the distance. You have any other questions, post it and I'll try to answer.

On another note..........noticed a bit of a sketchy crowd in the casino at times, but that may have been due to the big fight was going to held that weekend at MGM.

I've stayed there twice. November 2014 and March 2015

Love Love Love it. Casino is very bright and clean. Being attached to O'sheas is also a huge plus

Rooms are modern, bright and clean. When I was there in March there was a lot of construction noise as they rushed to finish the pool on time, but I've been told all the construction noise is over. Never had an issue with any other types of noise (such as carnival court).

Hash House A Go Go is great, eat there. Avoid Guy Frieri's, it's expensive and not great.

Love the location, as the Linq and Harrahs are probably my two favourite casinos to gamble at. Table minimums and selection are acceptable.

Never used the $20 trick as I've had a comp'd 2 queen mini suite each time which was more than good enough for me.

Closets have a safe, room to hang 5-6 things up and a decent size mini fridge. Shower comes with dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

And that elevator system is new to me, but sounds practical. when I was there on both occasions, there was a security guard there 24/7 asking to see your key. This would free him/her up to do something more useful.

Really like the new casino at The Linq. Staying there in 2 weeks for 1st time. Didn't notice and was wondering if they have a Diamond check in line?

Yes, but you won't need it. I've never seen a line at that counter. It's usually well staffed and not busy

It's pretty bad at peak times, or at least it seemed to me last month. Nothing close to Flamingo bad, but I would assume 20-30 min. waits at the worst.

Stayed in November, like it alot (already a fan of the casino remodel). Closet has no door (curtain, maybe?) You could hang much more than 5-6 items IF there are more hangers than that!
The bath is quite small--only 1 at a time getting ready there!
NO memory of a fridge...no elevator issues...

Well, I guess we will give it a try. I was never a fan of the IP, but when I was there last year it looked like the remodel was coming along nicely. I already called about an upgrade and they want $300/night for a 600 sf room. Not paying that as our reservation for 5 nights with resort fees is only $283! I'm going to try $50 or $100 trick at check in and see what that gets me. I'm just not real hip on the idea of a room that small.

Worst case I guess we stay one night and then move hotels, but I think we'll be fine. If it were up to me I would stay somewhere else, but the couple we are going with picked Linq due to the price.

If anyone has experience with the $20/$50 trick, I would love to hear about successes or failures.

I think you'll be pleasantly suprised with the Linq. Maybe the $20/$50 trick can get you a 2 queen / king mini suite. I've had one of these through Hunter on each trip (the first time in November it wasn't finished, so I had the extra space and tv, but no couch) and the extra room was definitely nice. It's no more than another 100 square feet plus a bit bigger bathroom, but it does make a difference. With that said, I had two friends stay in a regular queen room, both being bigger guys, and neither complained about the size. But I guess it all depends on what you're used to. I'd aim for the mini suite though as it would make a difference

Agree with most of what others have said...

The only "complaint" I have is that if you are not familiar with the Resort's layout, the signage can be not existent or flat out confusing.

Hopefully it is an improvement from before it changed to the Linq. I stayed there a couple of years ago and the check in line was obscene, taking almost 2 hours to get processed. It seemed like there were probably a hundred people waiting in line at 4 pm. After awhile people got word that they could get processed faster by signing up for a player's card (so they can go through the shorter line) but eventually that line got backed up also.

I'm sure that the rooms are a much better improvement since they were renovated. Let's hope that they continue the upkeep of the rooms so it will be okay for a number of years.

I found it most convenient to take the back escalator to get to that bank of elevators. They were relatively fast and not very busy. My room at that time was facing the pool area and was in good condition (may have been one of the early rooms renovated but before the fridges and the closet change).
