    Hey guys,

I don't play craps and haven't been able to find the answer to this question:

I notice casinos will offer different odds. Correct if me I'm wrong but laying 100x odds at Casino Royale means I'd lay $500 behind a $5 pass bet. What is the house edge on that bet? Seems like it'd be amazingly low, unless I misunderstand something.

The combined house edge for a resolved bet is .021% (essentially 0). But the volatility is extraordinarily high.

According to the Wizard of Odds (the guru of casino math) the house edge on a pass with 100X odds is 0.00021. In percentage terms that is .021% or about 2/100s of 0ne percent. A bet with 3-4-5X odds is 0.00374 which, in percentage terms is .374% or about 4/10s of one percent.

yep except you'd be at Casino Royale!
plus people here say it's only at one table (mini tub if I recall) and the dealers are very cranky

i was there in september. that tub is long gone, but was the scene of one of my female friends rolling for 47 minutes... #hugeracksfullofchips...

dealers can be a little testy if you're a bit slow as they are really fast.

on my 50th birthday i waited for the dice.... "point is 6"
take out the 5 benjamins and put it behind the line.... and bet a quarter hard 6.
    about 4 rolls later 3/3

when i went to cash out later, the cage asked me where i got the barneys...told her and she called the pit and i could see the critter nodding yes.
that was the only time i took the 100x

Yes, 100X odds is virtually a 50/50 bet.
BUT, it's still ONLY a 50/50 bet. Just like flipping a coin.
Would you flip coins with anyone for $500 a pop?

This. Sure it is good odds but not what anyone can/will really bet with any regularity.

Says me. That's just what I think, and I may be 100% wrong. Am I? I have never seen it but then again I have not been many places other than Casino Royale that offer it.

Usually because the attitudes of the dealers there will drive you out of the place...certainly not the friendliest crew on the strip!

I don't think people would bet the 100x all the time. But, with a hot shooter, it's nice to up it past the 5x that most strip places have.

When I first started visiting Las Vegas regularly (in the early 90's) Sam's Town and Binion's both offered 100x odds. After a couple of years, Sam's Town reduced the max to 20x. I asked a dealer why they had cut it back, and she told me that just a few weeks prior, a group of heavy hitters was in town and hit them pretty hard (probably enough to affect their quarterly earnings report). So, clearly there are some who are willing to bet big with regularity. Look at it this way - if a player is willing to play $100 flat and back it with $500 odds, which wouldn't be at all shocking at WynnCore, why would they not want to play where they can get that $500 odds bet down with only a $5 flat bet? (Ambience aside).

The max I've ever played is 20x (after a couple of presses), but would have gone higher on a couple of monster rolls if it were allowed.
