I like to play at tables where I am the only player and proceed to play with two hands simultaneously.
Thus I would cycle through shoes much more quickly than say if I were to sit at a full table.

Would I earn tier credits at the same rate as someone who was sitting at a crowded table playing a hand every 60-100 seconds as opposed to me playing a hand every 15-20 seconds?

Yes. Most houses rate on an average number of hands per hour, they don't factor in your individual table conditions. If you're playing faster than average, you won't be rated as such.

This has always been the strategy of certain "comp pro's". Take frequent breaks and play at a crowded table. Whatever it takes to slow down the game. They also like to look for hand shuffled games because that really slows down the action also.

I'm sure you'd get credit for 2 hands if you were consistently doing it however.

it may depend on the casino
some places have an active computer terminal, they swipe or enter your card in. those keep track of players and their seat number
some places do it by paper.

Many of those tables keep track of which player is in which seat etc. So its impossible to know if the formula the computer uses has a variable for the amount of players.
When I play 2 hands, sometimes the pit rates you as 1 spot, and doubles your average bet, some places do it that u take 2 spots at your average bet.

I know at Aria I almost always get credit for double my bet when I'm playing two hands. They're also much more generous about things like rating me for my girlfriend's play if she buys in with my money, which Cromwell, for example, refused to do.

    that's not really true.

they have 3 checkboxes on the form for slow, normal, fast.

that adjusts the hands per hour used in the calculation.

however, I will say that the "fast" calculation is nowhere near as fast as you can play by yourself with a fast dealer.

so you definitely get screwed on comps when you play like that.

I've had the exact same experience at Aria. They'll rate me at more hands per hour when I'm on a table alone and/or playing multiple hands. And they also rate my wife along with me, for a combined, higher rating. I've found them to be very accurate over the past three trips.

And, 44inarow, looks like we may well be sitting next to each other at a blackjack table at Aria next week!!

Thanks for the replies - yes, I think I may be shortchanged on my comps and on the recording of theo/ADT/etc. considering at the speed I like to play.

They do count both my hands as one bet wherever I play (MGM properties), but what I accomplish in 4 hours is what others play in 8 to 10 hours.

Well at least you're not getting completely screwed then.

if they have you coded to the lowest HA/best player, you get totally screwed for theo as a BJ player.

the HA they use is miniscule besides the fact that if you play fast you get screwed further.

it's not a game you play for theo.

Absolutely spot on. Of all the table games, bj has been the one where the new rating systems have most hurt the players.
If my memory is not mistaken, 30 years ago not only would the pit subjectively overcomp bj players but craps odds were looked at with a favorable eye rather than the math.

As they should have years ago. Someone who plays basic strategy pretty perfectly has a .3% HA. You do the math on how small this theo is. Say someone is playing $1000/hand and manages to play 3 hours a day over a 2 day trip. They think they are a High Roller. They ain't.

    $1000 X 50 hands an hour = $50,000 X 6 hours of play = $300,000 X .3% = $900 in Theo. Yes, $900! The theo generated doesn't even cover a suite let alone any comps.

And this person played $1000 a hand over 6 hours!

And yet while you generate hardly any theo playing BJ if your luck is as bad as mine was during my last trip you can lose 20x that amount without breaking a sweat!

Luckily they comped everything, I assume cuz of my loss because I doubt my theo even covered the suite.

Betting $25/hand you can very easily lose $500 or $1000 over a weekend in Vegas so betting $1000 hand...

If you didn't get to play your normal amount of hours due to the loss, then they probably comped you based on a quick loss as it sounds like you took a pretty hard beating.

Just ask silly questions about splitting 8s and 9s, they'll bump your rating down a bit. :)

My record for loosing $500 on a Blackjack tabled at $25 a hand was under 25 minutes (there was 2 other people at the table too!). Very fast dealer and everyone played fast. I got a few double downs and splits that I lost. it was awful!
