C'mon #7 is a bit of an exageration isn't it? Or on a snowmobile I could see...I have never set foot in the state of WI,though a trip to GreenBay I would not mind at all in the summer/fall to see Lambeau etc..Lifelong Pack fan but have met and partied with countless WI Pack fans on road games (Battle of the Bays in Tampa FL when it was a yearly affair and the Tampa Bay Packer Backers would have beer trucks, cheese carvings,Johnsonville brats grills set up pre-game and HALF the crowd wore Green and Gold!)I One game was #4's entrance in a blowout as Magik went down and the next week we all know what happened...another memorable was #92 holding is helmet up high after a win and pointing to us in the stands jogging to the tunnel..
Another forgettable moment though was late 80's a MNF game @ Giants and GB got killed...I had a Packers hat on (Back then the gear was not as available/popular? as today)
One person gave me a thumbs up and it was a concession stand employee...Bu t caught no BS from the Gints crowd..Nowadays? Fuggehttaboutit..

To top this off, recent plane trip with a layover.Sit mext to a guy and his wife and turns out they are from GreenBay..A minister and wife..I break out my Packers wallet to show I'm not lying..We talked Packers the whole trip...By the time we are ready to depart,he had offered his Tel# and a stay at his house if I ever made a trip to GB..Unbelieveably nice gesture...

Hope I did not derail this thread too much..But that is my take on WI as a NJ native.. GoPackGo !!

In Mn we have loads of people that wear shorts with winter jackets and hats as well. It may be 15 below and this one guy at work shows up in shorts.

Not an exaggeration for some of the idiots with 4 wheel drive who think they are invincible. But on several occasions we have caught up to them in the ditch while they wait for a tow.

Funny, there is a Northern NY version of this that's almost identical. Just a few minor regional differences.

    Playing Blackjack in TI.

Guy sitting across from me, late '50's, decked out head to toe in Packers gear. We strike up a conversation about football (he gives a polite smirk when I reveal I am an Eagles fan) and he tells me about how he converted his basement into a Packers shrine. Favre had just signed with the Vikings and I asked what he would do with all of Brett's stuff, now that he played for the enemy. He said that Brett Favre will always be a Packer.

Just then his wife comes by. He says so long nice to meet ya and for the first time I notice he is a paraplegic. I also notice that his wife is pushing a Green Bay Packers wheelchair. They disappear into the crowd as he gives me a little wave.

#26. After all these years away from Milwaukee I still miss the Friday night fish fry thing. I've never seen it anywhere else with as much gusto as Milwaukee, and Wisconsin in general.

I also miss the south Milwaukee vibe where literally every corner had four bars on it, for many many square miles.

    Go Badgers!!!

Two reasons for the fish fry tradition. An over abundance of Catholics who didn't eat meat on Friday and the great supply of Lake Michigan perch, sadly now mostly gone. The perch we get now come from lake Erie and the perch fish fry is usually around $10-$11. Even the smelt run tradition has died off. The Great Lakes are changing.

I grew up on the Southside in the middle of the block. My closest corner to the left had three taverns on the corners and a hardware store. To my right, only two taverns, but that meant 5 taverns in the same 1 block area.

I can remember growing up in Manitowoc ( north of Milwaukee) when my dad would take me to the south or north piers and we'd catch 5 gallon buckets full of perch. Sometimes 2 perch at a time on a treble hook.
And the smelt runs we'd hit early in the mornings were unreal...sometimes taking all afternoon to clean them all and then a fabulous smelt fry at night. Ah - life was good.
That kind of fishing from the 60's is long gone.
