    My Trip Report

Quickish TR. Two night stop in LAS en route to visit my dad at his winter home in Hawaii.

Bought the plane ticket before calling Cosmo to grab a standard email two night mid-week comp offer, which didn't work out, "we're booked. Only thing available is a 1br terrace suite at $750/night." As I mentioned in a previous post, I then engaged a host who booked me a room. This was my first time interacting with a host.

I'm a cheapskate when traveling alone and upon arrival, I bought a round trip shuttle ticket for $14.50. The shuttle long-hauled me and my fellow passengers. Why??? I didn't get it.

Checked in early, around 10am in Autograph Room. Desk attendant was very friendly, we have the same first name, he has family in MN, etc. I asked for East Tower on my reservation and he said there was nothing was available in East Tower yet; I said I didn't mind waiting b/c I really prefer East. He picks up the phone, I heard him mention my confirmation number, clickety click on the computer, and I have a 1br terrace wrap around at no additional charge. I said no - I don't want/need that, it's just me for this trip, you don't have to do that. Well it's the only room we have available right now and I like to take care of my fellow MN peeps, so up to East Tower room 3582 it is. I gave him $20.

I'm a big, big fan of Aria corner suites. I thought this was nicer - full kitchen w bar and fridge, second full bath, better layout in general of the living area (if one were to have others in the room). Aria corner suite has a nicer tub and bath area. Settled in the room and had to do some work things.

By the time I got to the casino it was dead. Played FBBJ and craps and had Pedialyte for dinner.

Next morning, breakfast at VaBenne - they had an Italian breakfast panini with a fried egg in it which hit the spot thirty different ways, it was that good. Double espresso, large coffee and I was back in form.

More craps and FBBJ. FBBJ was available at $10 for most of, if not all, day. Most people who sat and played knew what the game was, but I was the only one with a FBBJ strat card. Lots of fun table banter about the card and its modified strategy.

Emailed my host while on the casino floor he came by and said hello, I told him about the upgrade and thanked him for it though he said it was all the front desk's doing.

Losing sessions overall, I hit my loss limit almost every buy in. Was up at one craps session early on but that was the only time I was up. Tried playing two FBBJ hands at $25 but it went south pretty quickly, only upside was that Ed was dealing. Dabbled in some outside bets at 00 roulette, I had no intention of buying in but saw some patterns and played them for the hell of it. Ended up winning a few hundred. Very cute, young, lady of the night with a client was somewhat entertaining to watch play out.

See my post in Gaming thread about Comso BJ - 3:2 is making a comeback, and craps field 12 now pays triple. Dealers spoke of rumors that the craps tables will be moving, the plan is to consolidate table games in one area, all around where the bacc and PaiGow tables are now. Another rumor that Book and Stage will be renovated, though to what nobody knew.

Dinner at the bar at Jaleo. I didn't have my glasses on and couldn't read the menu so I just asked the bartender for three courses of his choice and a glass of red wine. Goat cheese hazelnut endive salad; chili-fried shrimp and beef tenderloin with a reserve Tempranillo. It was fantastic. Nice conversation w the couple next to me, I love dining solo at the bar.

Another of the staff at Jaleo recognized me from a previous trip, really nice, professional people at Jaleo and Cosmo in general.

More craps, roulette and losing. And cocktails. Lots of fun people on the casino floor, no dbags. Seemed like a really fun mix of conventioneers cutting loose and people starting to come in for MM.

Breakfast again at VaBenne the next morning, spinach egg panini wasn't as good as the Italian.

Met with my host before checking out. We chatted for a while in the back office; I told him I was having a fantastic time but down about $1000 for the trip. He said that's odd because their system showed me as being up. The f can that be, I know I left the table many times at 50% of what I bought in at, but whatever. He reviewed my charges, picked up the room and meals except tips and asked if I had a ride to the airport. In a rare moment of clarity, I recalled a post here from a week or so ago, and said no.

Since I then cancelled my shuttle ride, I had an extra two hours at the tables. Whereby I lost another $200 at craps. Love the game, hate the game lol. Ended up chatting with a guy next to me who has the same host. He was recently re-assigned to this host, was using him for the first time and spoke highly of him. We also chatted about the improved gaming conditions at Cosmo and he had noticed them too.

Sid drove me to the airport in a Mercedes GL SUV. That ride is so quiet I had to look at the tach to verify it wasn't a one-off electric version.

I want to thank the many people/posters here for comments over the years re hosts and comps. I've learned a lot here and this trip wouldn't ever have happened if it wasn't for the board. I am fairly certain that I played lower than my last trip (I was too much of a pussy to ask my rating) and I hope it doesn't jeopardize any future offers, but at the same time I refused to give in to any pressure to play for comps and played at my normal, comfortable level. I think (hope) it worked out well; we'll see what happens for my next trip in May. That being the case, I plan on emailing my host the details of my flight before the trip, so I can see Sid again (thanks Shifter).

My attempt at chip/craps porn. Had some nicely pressed bets going when I shot this pic. Then we all know what happened on the next roll...

Note dealer bet too. I like to put it on the line for the dealer after a win and then, if I've been chatting w the player next to me, ask him/her to put odds down on the dealer bet to help them out.

And the cutie lady of the night. When the dude wasn't fronting her $100 bills at the table he had his hand on her ass; only in Vegas...

    Great report!
Did I read you correctly? PayTriple on the field for 12? Yes! That's what it says on the picture of the craps table! Awesome! The big irony has been that I spend a lot of time at the Cosmo playing craps, but they have only been pay double in the field on the 12 for years now.
Glad you had a good experience with a host!

Judging by the dice pic, your starting action looks like $44 inside and a $10 pass. This kind of action gets you a host at Cosmo?

$750 a night for a one bedroom terrace midweek? That's crazy.

Thanks for the TR. Going to Vegas in a couple months wish I gave Cosmo a try but already booked Encore. Too bad you came out negative.

    Nice host!

My host says about a $500 average bet for four hours a day for a midweek wraparound, and $750 for the weekends.

Maybe I need to switch hosts!

JB, thanks for the details. I have been intending to try Jaleo for a while now, and it just never works out for some reason.
Do you mind PMing me your host's email/contact info? I have been wanting to establish play with them but would prefer to have a contact to start.
    Thanks.

I'm jealous of the wraparound. I get booked into either terrace studio or 1 bed rooms when booking the offers, perhaps one day I get the free upgrade. Did you go to autograph lounge because of going thru a host/offer or due to Identity status?

I am totally open to the prospect that I just plain lucked into the nice room and it had nothing to do with my low-roller play. It was my birthday, so maybe that had something to do with it. It was mid-week. Or, like he said at check in, maybe it was the only room in the East Tower ready for my early check in (I'm Gold and I think that guarantees an early checkin?).

I've always gone to the Lounge because they have water and the lines are shorter, I figured booking an Identity offer gives me the OK to go there (same as using VIP checkin on a MILF offer) and it hasn't ever been a problem.

My previous trip over MLK weekend had a much higher avg bet, spread over craps, FBBJ and PGP. I had some bigger bets at FBBJ and PGP last trip, not so much this time. My craps this trip was a strict Dice Doctor single odds Converted Come.

For all I know I won't ever get any kind of offer/comp again because I was rolling pretty low, who knows.
