I have about 20,000 slot points on my card which I use and stay at Orleans. Am I able to use these slot points toward food there? I am thinking I get a discount when using points plus points have some value when using for food or free play. Anyone know what the point values are? Thanks

If you use the slot points towards food at a Boyd owned restaurant you get a 40% discount - so 600 points = $1. Your 20K points equals about $33 then. If you want to use them for slot dollars (free play) then 1,000 points = $1 and your 20K points would be worth $20. You can download these at most slot machines (and video poker) - normally anything with a progressive is excluded.

One more note, you have to use your points directly at the dining venue for the discount - if you charge it to your room instead then you will not get the 40% point discount.

We like the Boyd casinos and they are very good to us low rollers.

    Enjoy your trip!

    Cheers,
    Kelly

Can you pay for a portion in point and portion in cash? I have a minimal amount of points that might get me a side of fries or 1 pint at 777 Brewpub.

For freeplay/cashback Boyd requires a $5 minimum to use your points. Not sure if food is subject to the same rules. If so, it's not listed in the "official rules". But I have been to casinos that required $5 of points minimum for food (e.g. Pinnacle Entertainment properties). Best to just try, and if they can't do it, they can't do it. Or play a handful of 9/6 JoB at Boar's Head to get enough...:evillaugh

Just wanted to clarify the Boyd owned restaurant for the OP. If it is a chain restaurant you will be charged at the 1000 pts per dollar ratio. So, if you are wanting the discounted ratio, avoid TGIF and the food court in addition to whatever chain coffee provider (Starbucks, etc.) they have there. The coffee shop at the Orleans is good with a very broad menu. The Oyster bar is good as well and there are a couple of higher end options if you want to get into the points and cash combo. I find the buffet to be very average but a quick option if you just need to refuel quickly.

I am so confused! lol I thought that when I stayed at the Fremont and ate at Tony Romas, the fact that I charged it to my room gave me the 40% off. You are saying that is not true - that I only need to use my points for my meal and I will receive the 40% off? Also, if I use a food coupon for part of the meal, would I still receive 40% off if I used my points to pay for the rest of the meal?

Heading there in a few weeks and cannot wait!

Pretty sure there is no 40% discount at Tony Roma's regardless because it is not a casino owned restaurant. If you do go to a casino owned restaurant, you use your points to pay at the restaurant. I would choose the Redwood grill at the California. Sticker price is higher than Tony Roma's but after factoring in the 40% discount you get a much better meal for about the same price.

Offers are based on your daily avg and have nothing to do with the current tier score or card level. Based on my experience they use primarily your three most recent trips. If you played lighter than normal last trip that would override heavy play from your fourth most recent.

I have paid with a food coupon at the Gold Coast buffet and paid with points for the rest and still got 40% off the points. I've done this many times recently.
