Last year V/P made a much publicized move to make all their shoe BJ (other than the games in the HL room) the 6:5 variety. :grrr: A bit after this happened, I was staying at Wynn and made a point to check out the V/P casinos to see what was up. I found that there were still DD 3:2 games to be found, but you did have to look for them. The minimums were $50-100 when I walked through on a fairly busy Friday evening and $25-50 on a slow Sunday early afternoon.

I just got a great offer from V/P and would like to use it. But I know their video poker is pretty terrible so I would really like to at least have some playable BJ in my home casino.

Can anyone update me on current (main floor) BJ conditions? Are they still similar to what I saw last summer? Have things become any worse? Better (yeah right:rolleyes2:)?

    Thanks!

Carve, I walked through the Palazzo high limit two months ago and the rules and payouts were all very good in there. But I didn't really pay attention to the main floor. Hope that helps

Thanks, UKFan. I’m hoping to cut back a little this trip and stay away from HL rooms. But degeneracy + laziness + desire for the best rules will probably mean that I don't stick to that conviction for too long. We'll see.

The main floor I saw were 6:5. They had 100 min pitch DD. 25 min were definitely 6:5.

The HL is where the rules are good. I think min was 200-300.

Thanks man. But just so I'm clear...the $100 main floor DD games were 3:2?

Im like 90% sure it was 6:5. I don't recall it being 3:2.

V/p has horrible bj rule on the main floor

Yes, V/P is now my main casino so this is going off of last months trip. For the record, I usually only play on the Venetian side. That main floor DD game has remained liberal and 3:2. That's the only main floor game worth playing. I think in that same pit they also have an 8 deck H17 shoe that is 3:2 with a $50-100 min. In the HL room they have a 6 deck S17, and at slow times it is a $100 game, otherwise they bump it up to $200-300. The only BJ games I have found worth playing there are the DD, and the HL 6 deck game when I can afford it.

The rest of the main floor shoes are $10-25 min 8 deck 6:5 garbage. stay away from those...

Another option is they have electronic video blackjack which deals from an actual shoe. It is 4 decks, and the cards played are discarded until the virtual shuffle. It's kind of a cool game that I like to just relax on. The rules on it are very liberal 3:2, etc... Be careful though I think only the one across from the big 6 wheel on the venetian side is S17, while the others are H17.

I played the dd game last year in the high limit room at venetian and it was a $200 game i believe. I have also read on this board in a few posts that you can have them remove the 6/5 on the main floor for $50 and above tables (the players said to ask the pit boss). This is all hearsay and I do not have experience on the main floor.

Hmmmm... interesting, I saw a guy playing a shoe on the main floor that was 3:2 that appeared to be his own reserved table and didn't think much of it at the time. So that was probably what was going on, and it wasn't a private table. But if I'm playing $50-100 a hand I'd rather just go play 6 deck.

I also saw the same guy at another table and they had taken out the shuffle machine and had dealers hand shuffle. What's the requirement for that?

Imho, i would rather play dd instead of a 6 deck shoe. At the wynn, they have the shuffle machines in high limit but they will shuffle by hand if you ask (and i prefer). I dont really play at v/p since i dont really like the property but i have read that they will remove the 6/5 and make it 3/2 by request at the $50 and up tables.

Yes this must be correct. I don't play on the main floor, but interesting to note nonetheless. I will inquire next time I am there as to what the requirement is for a hand shuffle, as I also prefer it to the automatic shufflers.

    Thanks guys.

I might give this a try.

Right after they changed the games to 6:5, I was walking the floor and saw a reserved table with a guy betting several blacks a hand. The placard said 6:5 but now I’m guessing he had them change it.
